What is Alphonso Mango

The Hapus reigns supreme in tropical fruits, a cultivar of the Mangifera indica species revered for its exceptional flavour and aroma.

Hailing from the coastal regions of western India, particularly the Konkan region, this fruit variety stands as a testament to nature's bounty, captivating the senses with its rich, creamy texture and delicate sweetness.

The Alphonso journey from its humble origins to global acclaim is a tale of tradition, innovation, and the pursuit of culinary excellence.

Fruits had always favored rich, tender, and overpowering sweetness in the earlier days before sugar was not widely available.

Fruits were valuable substitute sources of sweetness.

Alphonso: A Healthy and Tasty Delight

It is loaded with a creamy sweet taste. Pulp has a tender and delicate texture, little or non-fibrous fruit, and sweet and tangy juicy pulp.

Which country is famous for Alphonso mangoes?

When we speak of mangoes, we talk of Alphonso mangoes, the established sweethearts of every Indian household.

We opulently display a wide range of premium handpicked tropical fruit that satisfy your creamy sweet tooth while making you crave more.

Do you know what Alphonso Aam and Origin

Are there any who haven't heard of the King of Mangoes Alphonso in their lifetime?

We don't think so. Portuguese started the sweet and rich flavor of the Hapus grown during the aam ka season in the Western Ghats of India.

Their Viceroy Afonso De Albuquerque, who conquered the state of Goa in the fifteenth century, established the presence of the Portuguese in India.

Mango in India

It was grown since time undefined because of their reference found in Upanishads and other sacred religious texts of Hinduism.

However, the specific Alphonso variant was Portuguese introduced with grafting on the hapus tree in Konkan.

Hapus history is way behind from the 12th century. Still, it was more developed by Afonso de Albuquerque; somewhere in 1508, he landed intending to gain control of all maritime trade routes for the East.

Afonso de Albuquerque, who conquered Goa, wanted to make his Naval base in Goa against Muslim rulers. He first attempted Cochin and Tamil Nadu, but when unsuccessful, he tried to attack Goa with his 23 ships.

Afonso de Albuquerque did the naval base for diverting spice trade and used it to supply Persian Horses to Hindu Kings in India.

He was Warrior in his career but a farmer and researcher by heart while moving around western India.

He found this fruit in India during the Mangos season and the Indian variety of this trees.

That time it was good n taste firm flesh.

Thought that these fruit varieties could be traded on the spice route and sent back to the King & Queen of Portugal as there was abundant aam ka production in Konkan.

He did a bit of research on this tree, developed a new Variety by grafting on a Hafus tree, and developed King of mangoes Alphonso.

These Mangoes had firmer fleshy pulp and could withstand the transportation time on the sea.

He contributed to this Variety of fruit, now world-famous King of Mango

Since then, it has grown in the Western India Konkan area of Maharashtra and the western seacoast of India.

This fruit is the best and the most expensive variety of mangoes worldwide. Certain varieties of Hapus are grown in Karnataka and Tamil Nadu in Salem.

But they are not as tasty and juicy as Konkan Hapus.
