In Mumbai, Alphonso mango 1 kg price at AlphonsoMango.in works out to roughly ₹800 to ₹1,030 per kg, approximately, because we sell by the dozen from ₹1,849 to ₹2,999. Delivery is free, Mumbai addresses can get Sunday delivery, and the fruit arrives semi-ripe. Local market rates change daily, so compare on weight, not on the headline number.

What is a kilo of Alphonso really worth in Mumbai?
Depends who you ask, and on which morning. Mumbai buys mangoes from many channels: roadside carts, society fruit shops, the big wholesale yard at Vashi APMC in Navi Mumbai, and now apps and specialist sellers. Rates swing with arrivals from the Konkan, the grade, and the week of the season. We do not publish a daily market rate and we would be guessing if we did.
What can be done honestly is to anchor on a seller's own weights. That is the method below. You can run it on a cart-seller's piece rate too, if you ask what a piece weighs.
Our rate, worked out
We sell Ratnagiri and Devgad Alphonso by the dozen. Multiply the declared weight per mango by twelve and divide the price.
| Grade | Per mango | 1 dozen | Approx. per kg |
|---|---|---|---|
| Small | 150-180 g | ₹1,849 | ₹855-1,025 |
| Medium | 180-220 g | ₹2,099 | ₹795-970 |
| Large | 225-250 g | ₹2,499 | ₹830-925 |
| Extra large | 250-275 g | ₹2,699 | ₹820-900 |
| Jumbo | 275-300 g | ₹2,999 | ₹830-910 |
These are approximate. The mango alone is weighed, not the carton. A worked Mumbai example: a family of five in Thane wants fruit for a weekend. A medium dozen at ₹2,099 gives twelve mangoes, or about 2.2 to 2.6 kg, which is roughly two and a half mangoes per head. Two dozen, ₹3,999 against ₹4,198 for two singles, saves ₹199 and covers a week.

Receiving mangoes in a Mumbai flat
Mumbai delivery has its own friction. Gates. Security desks. Lifts that are out of order in monsoon-ready buildings. So, a few practical rules.
- Tell your society security that a courier parcel is expected, and give the courier your direct mobile number.
- Choose a delivery time when someone is home. A first attempt that fails hurts semi-ripe fruit.
- Do not accept a crushed, wet or open carton without photographing it at the door.
- Open the box the same day. Fruit stuck in a security cabin in afternoon heat is no one's friend.
Mumbai addresses can receive Sunday delivery, which is useful, but dispatch itself runs Monday to Saturday. Orders placed before 1:00 PM IST dispatch the same day.
Ripening in Mumbai heat and humidity
Mumbai in April is hot and sticky, and that speeds ripening. Fruit that might take five days in a dry climate can be ready in three or four. So check daily from day one.
Keep the mangoes out of direct sun, away from a sun-baked balcony, in a ventilated corner. Avoid a sealed bag, which traps moisture. Ripe signs: aroma at the stalk end, firm-to-soft give when pressed near the stalk, slightly wrinkling shoulders and a colour that moves from olive to golden. Once ripe, put the fruit in the fridge and finish it within a few days.
If you must delay eating, the pulp is a plan B. Alphonso pulp is ₹590 for 850 g and available all year.
How an order reaches Mumbai
Fresh mangoes are harvested to order and packed against your order, then shipped semi-ripe through BlueDart to serviceable PIN codes. Enter your Mumbai PIN on the product page; most are likely fine, but the page decides. Delivery is free, payment is prepaid only (UPI, cards, net banking, wallets), and there is no cash on delivery. You get a tracking link on email and WhatsApp. If a box arrives damaged, claim within 24 hours with photos or video and your order number. Read the shipping policy and return policy.
Carbide, and Mumbai street fruit
Carbide ripening is illegal. Regulation 2.3.5 of the Food Safety and Standards (Prohibition and Restrictions on Sales) Regulations, 2011 prohibits it, since carbide releases acetylene and can carry arsenic and phosphorus. Ethylene ripening up to 100 ppm is the permitted route; check fssai.gov.in.
We do not use carbide. Our Alphonso mangoes are ripened naturally (on hay beds, as our FAQ states). For any seller, ask the question out loud. A white or grey powder in the carton is a warning sign, and a bucket float test is only a clue.
