A trusted GI-authorised Alphonso seller can give you a GI Authorised User number you can verify at ipindia.gov.in, an FSSAI licence number, a registered address and written delivery and claims policies. Ours are AU/5974/GI/139/260 (Alphonso), AU/6932 (Devgad) and FSSAI 10020022011783. Check them yourself rather than trusting a badge.

Why I will not simply recommend a seller
The title asks for a recommendation. A fair answer from a seller is awkward, because I run one. If I told you to buy from us and stopped, I would be asking for blind trust. Better to show you the method, which works on any seller, and then let you apply it to us.
I am not going to name or rate competitors. I do not have verified information about them, and a list of names without evidence is just opinion. What I can give you is a way to test claims quickly, and a set of figures about our own business that you can check independently.
What GI authorised actually means
Ratnagiri and Devgad Alphonso hold Geographical Indication status. A GI links a product’s name to a defined region and standard. Producers and sellers who want to use the registered name properly can be recorded as authorised users. That is the system in outline; for the precise rules, read the GI Registry at ipindia.gov.in.
Practically, an Authorised User number is a reference you can ask for and check. A GI logo on a website proves nothing, because logos are easy to copy. A number tied to a named legal entity is harder to fake and easy to look up. Note that an authorisation tells you about the right to use the name. It does not tell you about ripening, packing or service, so it is one test among several.
A seven-point trust check
- GI Authorised User number for the seller, checkable on the official register.
- FSSAI licence number, visible on the site and verifiable on fssai.gov.in.
- Legal name and address. A company, a street and a pin code, not just a brand.
- A real contact. A phone or WhatsApp number that answers, and an email on the same domain.
- Written policies. Shipping, returns and claims, with a window and a remedy stated.
- Ripening method disclosed, including a clear statement on carbide.
- No impossible claims. Not organic without paperwork, not farm-direct without evidence, not delivered tomorrow everywhere.
Sellers who pass four of seven are common. Sellers who pass all seven are fewer. Score us honestly against the same list.
Red flags that cost nothing to spot
- A GI claim with no number.
- A price far below the market for the season with no explanation.
- Alphonso offered in months when it is not in season, without a clear source.
- No address, or an address that cannot be a business.
- Cash on delivery as the only option, with no paper trail.
- Reviews that are all five stars and all one sentence.
None proves fraud. Each is a reason to ask a question before paying.

As the Brand Facts page states, fruit comes from 48+ villages across Raigad, Ratnagiri and Sindhudurg. A dozen runs ₹1,849 to ₹2,999 by size; see the Ratnagiri Alphonso page and the Devgad page. The season usually runs February to June, and the 2027 season is listed to start on 1 February 2027; check the product page for live dates.
Carbide: the question that separates sellers
Ask every seller how the fruit is ripened. Calcium carbide is prohibited for ripening fruit in India under Regulation 2.3.5 of the Food Safety and Standards (Prohibition and Restrictions on Sales) Regulations, 2011; it releases acetylene and can carry arsenic and phosphorus impurities. FSSAI permits controlled ethylene ripening up to 100 ppm. A white or grey powdery residue on skin can be calcium hydroxide, and “masala” is the street name for carbide.
We do not use carbide. Our Alphonso mangoes are ripened naturally (on hay beds, as our FAQ states). Brand Facts cites weekly carbide and pesticide testing by Envirocare Labs. A float test is a rough clue only; a lab test proves it.
