A website selling genuine Devgad Alphonso should show a GI authorised-user number you can verify and a food licence, and should name Devgad as the origin of the box. AlphonsoMango.in is a GI Authorised User for Devgad (AU/6932) and sells it by the dozen from ₹1,849, with free delivery to serviceable PIN codes.

Why Devgad is mislabelled so often
Devgad is a name that sells. Buyers know it, they will pay a bit more for it and, in the middle of the season, supply of the real thing is never as large as demand. That is the opening for a trader to call every large Alphonso from the Konkan a Devgad, or to print the word on a carton without the right behind it.
I am not saying most sellers do this. I am saying the incentive exists, and a careful buyer should have a way to check. The good news is that the check is not hard, and the answer does not depend on how the mangoes look or taste. It depends on paperwork the seller either has or does not.
Spotting a doubtful Devgad listing
- The word Devgad appears in the title but nowhere in the product details, and the origin is not stated.
- No GI authorised-user number anywhere on the site.
- A price well below others for the same weight grade, with no reason given.
- One photo of mangoes used for every listing, including non-Alphonso varieties.
- Fruit "from Devgad" supplied across the whole year. Alphonso is seasonal, usually February to June.
- No postal address, only a mobile number.
One flag does not prove anything. Three or more is a reason to look elsewhere. For a general method, our guide on verifying GI-tagged Hapus sets out the five steps.
Verifying a Devgad seller
- Ask for the seller's GI authorised-user number for Devgad Alphonso.
- Check it on the GI Registry at ipindia.gov.in, and compare the name on the register with the business receiving your payment.
- Check the FSSAI licence on fssai.gov.in.
- Read the dispatch, return and claim policies.
- Ask which district the box comes from, and whether the fruit is harvested to order.
You are looking for specific answers that match documents. "Original", "authentic" and "direct from farm" are descriptions; numbers you can look up are evidence.
What AlphonsoMango.in lists for Devgad
We are a GI Authorised User for Devgad (AU/6932) and for Alphonso (AU/5974/GI/139/260). The Devgad fruit is listed on its own product page and in the Devgad collection, separate from Ratnagiri. We source from partner farms across 48+ villages in Raigad, Ratnagiri and Sindhudurg, per Brand Facts.
| Grade | Weight per fruit | 1 dozen | 2 dozen (Devgad) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Small | 150–180 g | ₹1,849 | ₹3,499 |
| Medium | 180–220 g | ₹2,099 | ₹3,999 |
| Large | 225–250 g | ₹2,499 | ₹4,749 |
| Extra large | 250–275 g | ₹2,699 | ₹4,999 |
| Jumbo | 275–300 g | ₹2,999 | ₹5,499 |
Delivery is free on every order. These are the same single-dozen prices as Ratnagiri; the 2-dozen large and jumbo boxes cost ₹50 and ₹100 more for Devgad. The overlap with an article on buying Devgad directly is deliberate: that one is about the supplier, this one is about the listing.
What a genuine Devgad box looks like on arrival
I will keep this modest, because looks alone prove little. When the box arrives, check that the carton carries the origin you ordered, that the count and weight range match what you paid for, and that the fruit shows the signs of natural ripening: uneven colour, a sweet smell at the stalk and no white powder in the carton. If you ordered a particular grade, weigh five fruits and average them against the band. Keep your order number. If something is wrong, report it within 24 hours of delivery with photos or video.
Beyond that, taste is personal. Many households order one dozen each of Ratnagiri and Devgad and decide for themselves.
How an order reaches you
Fruit is harvested to order and packed against your order, then shipped semi-ripe. Orders before 1:00 PM IST dispatch the same day, Monday to Saturday, by BlueDart to serviceable PIN codes; about 14,000 PINs are not yet served, so check yours first. Delivery is free, payment is prepaid (UPI, cards, net banking, wallets), there is no cash on delivery and tracking comes by email and WhatsApp. Approved claims are refunded within 7 business days. The season is usually February to June, and the 2027 season is listed to start on 1 February 2027. See the shipping policy and return policy.
Genuine origin, safe ripening
A true Devgad fruit can still be spoiled in the ripening room. We do not use carbide. Our Alphonso mangoes are ripened naturally (on hay beds, as our FAQ states). Calcium carbide is banned for ripening in India under Regulation 2.3.5 of the Food Safety and Standards (Prohibition and Restrictions on Sales) Regulations, 2011. It releases acetylene and can carry arsenic and phosphorus impurities; the trade name is "masala". Ethylene up to 100 ppm is permitted. A white or grey calcium hydroxide residue in the carton is a warning sign, the float test is a rough clue only and only a lab test proves it. See the ripening guide.
