: Direct B2B resale supply of GI-tagged Alphonso mangoes for regional supermarkets. Verified FSSAI compliance, naturally ripened, and tailored wholesale terms.

Regional supermarkets interested in B2B resale of Alphonso mangoes should write to the team on WhatsApp at +91 70830 75556 or support@alphonsomango.in. We publish our licences, GI numbers, sizes, retail prices and delivery terms, but not wholesale rates, margins, minimum quantities, credit terms or retail-pack specifications; those are agreed individually and in writing.

How does a supermarket buyer see Alphonso?

As a high-margin, high-risk seasonal line. Alphonso brings footfall and a premium price, and it is also the item most likely to produce complaints: fruit that is not ripe when the customer wants it, fruit that is over-ripe on the shelf, and fruit whose origin claim is hard to defend. A category buyer has to balance those against a very short selling season.

The buyer's questions are therefore commercial and operational, not romantic. Who is the supplier? Can they deliver on the dates promised? What is the shrink? What does the shelf label say, and can we stand behind it? What happens when a batch is wrong? A supplier who answers these plainly is worth more than one who offers a lower price and vague terms.

What do we publish, and what do we not?

Published: Powle Home Foods, Kurla West, Mumbai 400070; FSSAI Central Licence 10020022011783; APEDA registration 225579; GI Authorised User numbers AU/5974/GI/139/260 (Alphonso) and AU/6932 (Devgad); five size bands; retail dozen and two-dozen prices; free delivery on every order; BlueDart dispatch Monday to Saturday, same day before 1:00 PM IST; prepaid payment; a claim process with a 24-hour window.

The retail prices are Rs 1,849 (small, 150-180 g), Rs 2,099 (medium, 180-220 g), Rs 2,499 (large, 225-250 g), Rs 2,699 (extra large, 250-275 g) and Rs 2,999 (jumbo, 275-300 g) a dozen. These are consumer prices, not a wholesale list, and should not be used to work out a supermarket rate. The 2027 season is listed to start on 1 February 2027, and usually February to June is the window. We do not publish 2027 prices yet.

Not published, handled on enquiry: wholesale or trade rates, retailer margins, volume discounts, minimum quantities, credit and payment terms, retail packaging and labelling specifications, branding and the form of GST invoicing. Please do not infer any of them from this page.

What should a category buyer ask?

  1. Can you supply the volumes I need in the weeks I need them?
  2. Which sizes and which origin, and how consistent is size within a delivery?
  3. What is the delivery route to my stores or my distribution centre, and who bears transit risk?
  4. What is the ripeness at delivery, and what is the recommended in-store ripening plan?
  5. What are your food licence and origin documents? Ours are above and can be checked on the registers.
  6. How are damaged or rejected deliveries handled for a commercial order, in writing?
  7. What is the invoice form, and which legal entity is on it?
  8. Can I have a trial order before committing to the season?

Items 3, 6 and 7 are the ones where the standard consumer terms may not apply. Expect answers to be agreed in writing. For comparison, the consumer terms are in the shipping policy and return policy.

What about shelf life, ripening and shrink?

Fruit ships semi-ripe, so it needs days at room temperature to ripen, and it should not be refrigerated while unripe. For a store, that means a ripening area or a staggered delivery plan, so shelves never hold a mix of hard fruit and fruit past its best. Shrink in mangoes comes from over-ripening, bruising and rot; it is driven by handling and by how long fruit waits between ripening and sale. I will not quote a shrink figure, because I have none that I can support.

Our post-harvest steps on the Brand Facts page include harvesting with a pole and net so fruit does not fall, sorting by weight, machine scanning for defects, controlled hot-water treatment, cooling and ripening on hay beds. Ask for the same level of detail from any other supplier. See also reserving next season's supply.

What about carbide and compliance?

A supermarket is exposed if a supplier uses banned practices. Calcium carbide is prohibited for ripening fruit in India under Regulation 2.3.5 of the Food Safety and Standards (Prohibition and Restrictions on Sales) Regulations, 2011. It produces acetylene and can carry arsenic and phosphorus impurities. It is called masala in the trade. FSSAI permits controlled ethylene ripening up to 100 ppm; see fssai.gov.in.

We do not use carbide. Our Alphonso mangoes are ripened naturally (on hay beds, as our FAQ states).

A written statement from the supplier and a licence number are the minimum for a compliance file. White or grey powder in a carton, or fruit that is yellow outside and hard inside, are warnings on delivery. A float test is a rough clue only. Only a lab test proves it.

How an order reaches you

For standard orders: fruit is harvested to order and packed against the order, then shipped semi-ripe by BlueDart to serviceable PIN codes, with tracking by email and WhatsApp. Commercial supply to stores is arranged separately. See Our Farmers for the 48-village sourcing in Ratnagiri and Devgad.

Verified business details

You can verify the GI, FSSAI and APEDA numbers on the official registers.
