Why book Devgad Hapus ahead?
Because the best weeks are short. Devgad sits at the southern end of the Konkan Alphonso belt, and the early fruit is the stuff people talk about. Early fruit is also limited.
Booking ahead does three things. It fixes your delivery window instead of leaving it to chance. It lets you plan around travel and events (a wedding in April, a Gudi Padwa table, an office gifting day). And it gives the farm side a better read on how many boxes to pick. That last one matters to us, since we harvest to order rather than stocking fruit and hoping.
Is it necessary? No. You can order in-season. But if you want a specific week, book.
How pre-orders and the Monthly Pass work
Straight from our shipping policy. Pre-orders and the Monthly Pass are dispatched in the window shown on the product page. Quantity or delivery week can be changed before dispatch. Payment is prepaid (UPI, cards, net banking, wallets); there is no cash on delivery, and delivery is free on every order to serviceable PIN codes.
Start at the Devgad Alphonso product page, choose a grade and a dozen or two-dozen pack, and enter your PIN code. If your PIN code is not serviceable for fresh mangoes today, the page will tell you, and about 7,000 more PIN codes are expected by January 2027.
What a booking does not do is lock a price for 2027. We have not announced 2027 prices on this page. Whatever the product page shows when you book is the price that applies to that booking.
When does the season start?
Alphonso usually runs February to June, with the heart of it in April and May. The 2027 season is listed to start 1 February 2027. Check the product page for live dates, because weather moves the harvest and we move with it.
Early-season fruit tends to be smaller and fewer. Mid-season is when volume peaks and the grades fill out. Late-season fruit, in June, can be excellent too, particularly for pulp and aamras. If you have no fixed date, order mid-season for the widest choice of grades.
Prices and what to budget
Current Devgad dozen prices, as listed.
| Grade | Weight per fruit | 1 dozen | 2 dozen |
|---|---|---|---|
| Small | 150-180 g | Rs 1,849 | Rs 3,499 |
| Medium | 180-220 g | Rs 2,099 | Rs 3,999 |
| Large | 225-250 g | Rs 2,499 | Rs 4,749 |
| Extra large | 250-275 g | Rs 2,699 | Rs 4,999 |
| Jumbo | 275-300 g | Rs 2,999 | Rs 5,499 |
Worked example. A family wants fruit in two separate weeks: one medium dozen each time, 2 x Rs 2,099 = Rs 4,198. A single two-dozen medium pack is Rs 3,999, Rs 199 cheaper, but all the fruit ripens together. Two dozen weigh roughly 4.3 to 5.3 kg, so you need to eat or share them within a few days of ripening. Two dozen medium is the better buy only if you can use or give away that much at once. Per kilo, medium works out to about Rs 755 to Rs 970 (approximate).
Changing or cancelling a booking
Before dispatch: change address or phone, change quantity or delivery week on pre-orders, postpone fresh fruit by up to 2 days, or cancel free with a full refund. After dispatch: address change only within the same city if the courier accepts, and no cancellation of fresh fruit. Message WhatsApp +91 70830 75556 or support@alphonsomango.in with your order number. Details in the shipping policy.
Ripening and the carbide rule
Fruit ships semi-ripe. At home: single layer, room temperature, ventilated, check daily, refrigerate only when ripe, eat within a few days. Look for olive turning golden, a sweet smell at the stalk and a soft give near it.
Why we talk about carbide so often: because early-season demand tempts some sellers to force fruit. Calcium carbide is prohibited for ripening in India under Regulation 2.3.5 of the FSS (Prohibition and Restrictions on Sales) Regulations, 2011. It releases acetylene and may carry arsenic and phosphorus impurities; FSSAI allows controlled ethylene up to 100 ppm, as the current text at fssai.gov.in explains. We do not use carbide. Our Alphonso mangoes are ripened naturally (on hay beds, as our FAQ states). Flat sourness near the stone and white or grey powder in a carton are warnings. The water float test is only a folk clue.
How an order reaches you
Mangoes are harvested to order, packed against your order and shipped semi-ripe. Dispatch runs Monday to Saturday; orders received before 1 PM IST go out the same day. Fresh fruit travels with BlueDart to serviceable PIN codes (more partners are being added from December 2026), and tracking reaches you by email and WhatsApp. Receive on the first attempt. If anything arrives damaged, send photos or video and your order number within 24 hours; see the return policy. Or compare with Ratnagiri Alphonso.
