What farm fresh means when you buy mangoes online
Farm fresh is a phrase many sellers use, so it helps to be specific. For us it means three things you can check. The fruit is Alphonso from the Ratnagiri and Devgad belt on the Konkan coast. It is sourced from 55 villages of that belt. And it is ripened without calcium carbide, on hay beds, before it leaves us. We run AlphonsoMango.in from Powle Home Foods in Mumbai, and this guide walks through each step between the orchard belt and your door.

Alphonso is a mango variety, sometimes called Hapus in Marathi and Hindi. The fruit is usually sold by the dozen, and it is a seasonal product. Fresh Alphonso is not sold outside the season, so the page you read in the off months may show pulp instead of whole fruit.
Where the fruit comes from: Ratnagiri and Devgad
Ratnagiri is a district on the Konkan coast of Maharashtra. Devgad is a taluka in Sindhudurg district, further south along the same coast. Both sit in the Konkan belt, a stretch of the western coast between the Arabian Sea and the Deccan Plateau. We source across 55 villages of the Ratnagiri and Devgad belt, so the two names on our product pages describe the place the fruit comes from, not two different mangoes.
We do not claim that one of the two areas ripens earlier, harvests later or tastes better than the other. Both are the same Alphonso variety. If you want a specific origin, choose the Ratnagiri or Devgad product page, and read the origin details on our Brand Facts page. We hold the GI Authorised User certificate AU/5974/GI/139/260 (GI No. 139) for Alphonso from the Ratnagiri belt.
Harvest for all our Alphonso is done at Brahma Muhurta, the pre-dawn hours, so the fruit goes into the packing stage early in the day.
Choosing a size, a dozen and a budget
Alphonso is sold by the dozen, and you can pick the fruit size that suits your use. Smaller fruit suits a family that eats mangoes whole. Larger fruit suits gifting, or people who cut the fruit into slices for a dessert. Alphonso fruit generally weighs about 150 to 300 grams each, so a dozen weighs roughly 1.8 to 3.3 kilograms depending on grade.
- Alphonso from Ratnagiri or Devgad: from Rs 1,849 per dozen. The largest Ratnagiri option is listed higher on the product page.
- Kesar: a different variety from Gujarat, sold as half-dozen and dozen boxes. It is not Alphonso, and we do not describe it as GI-tagged.
- Pairi: sold as one dozen from Rs 2,799 on its own product page.
- Alphonso Mango Pulp Tin: pulp tins are sold in 850 g and 3.1 kg sizes from Rs 590. They are available all year, so they suit drinks and desserts when fresh fruit is out of season.
Check the product page for the current price before you order, because prices are listed as starting points and the dozen options change. We do not quote a price per kilogram on this page, since that depends on grade and box.
How the fruit is ripened before it ships
We do not use carbide. Our Alphonso mangoes are ripened naturally on hay beds. Calcium carbide is prohibited for ripening fruit in India. The Food Safety and Standards (Prohibition and Restrictions on Sales) Regulations, 2011, Regulation 2.3.5, sets that rule, and we are an FSSAI-licensed seller.
If you are buying from any seller, ask how the fruit was ripened. A good answer names the method and does not depend on a single test. Our guide to identifying authentic Hapus mango lists the questions to ask. A simple water test or colour check is only a rough clue, not proof of how a mango was ripened.
Ripening at home is also simple once the fruit is in your hands. Our how to ripen Alphonso mangoes at home guide covers room temperature, when to move fruit to the fridge and how to tell when a mango is ready to eat.
Ordering, dispatch and delivery across India
To order, open the product page, pick the dozen or box you want, add it to your cart and enter your PIN code at checkout. Orders received before 1 PM are dispatched the same day. We dispatch by Blue Dart, and about 65% of Indian PIN codes get next-day delivery. Check your PIN code at checkout.
Delivery times depend on where you live, so we do not promise a fixed number of days for any city. Enter your PIN code before you pay, and read the delivery estimate shown there.
For corporate gifting orders, shipping is charged extra. GST applies on that shipping charge, and the invoice shows it. There is no GST on fresh mangoes. Our corporate gift guide for Alphonso mangoes explains the gift options in more detail.
What to check when the box arrives
Open the box on arrival and look at the fruit before you store it. If any fruit is damaged or the quality is not what you expected, report the problem within 24 hours of delivery to support@alphonsomango.in or call 8369048029.
Some fruit will be firm and some will soften faster, because natural ripening is not uniform. A firm mango is not a fault. Use the ripening guide above, and keep ripe fruit in the fridge only when you are ready to eat it.
Season, storage and what to expect
Fresh Alphonso is harvested from about February to June, with the best supply usually from March to May. The 2027 season opens on 1 February 2027. Outside the season, fresh Alphonso is not sold, and we say so on the product pages rather than offer fruit we do not have.
Dry fruit and seeds are sold alongside the mangoes, and
shows one of our cashew lines, for customers who want a nut order with their fruit.
Once a mango is ripe, eat it within a few days or refrigerate it. Whole ripe fruit keeps better in the fridge, and cut fruit should be covered and eaten within a day or two. Pulp keeps longer, and our Alphonso Mango Pulp Tin is available all year if you want the flavour after the season ends.

If you want to visit us in person, walk-in visits are possible only at our Mumbai office at No. 07, Bhave House, Kale Marg, Bail Bajar, Kurla West, Mumbai 400070. Please call 8369048029 first. We do not offer walk-in visits in other cities.
How to choose a seller for farm fresh mangoes
A seller who is clear about origin, variety, ripening and delivery is easier to trust than one who is vague. Look for a named variety, a named district or taluka, a stated delivery partner and a clear PIN code check. Look for a seller who says what happens if fruit arrives damaged, and who tells you the season dates instead of showing fruit all year.
We are an FSSAI-licensed seller, and our Alphonso products carry the GI Authorised User certificate AU/5974/GI/139/260 (GI No. 139) for fruit from the Ratnagiri belt. Our editorial standards explain how we write about our products, and the Brand Facts page sets out the business details in one place.
