How a Pune mango order works
We are Powle Home Foods in Mumbai, and we run AlphonsoMango.in. We have sold mangoes since 2019 and online since 2020, and we have served 47,000+ customers, including offline and marketplace sales. A Pune order is placed on the website like any other Indian address: choose the fruit, pick a size grade and a dozen option, and enter your PIN code at checkout. We have no shop, counter or agent in Pune, and you do not need one.

Our main fruit is Alphonso, which Pune calls Hapus. We source it across 55 villages of the Ratnagiri and Devgad belt on the Konkan coast, the same belt that supplies the Market Yard stalls in Gultekdi. Alphonso from this belt is GI-tagged in India under GI No. 139, and we hold GI Authorised User certificate AU/5974/GI/139/260 (GI No. 139). We do not use carbide. Our Alphonso mangoes are ripened naturally on hay beds.
- Ratnagiri Alphonso Mango, from Rs 1,849 per dozen.
- Devgad Alphonso Mango, from Rs 1,849 per dozen.
- Kesar mango from Gujarat: half-dozen Rs 999, dozen Rs 1,699.
- Alphonso mango pulp tin (850 g and 3.1 kg, from Rs 590), available all year.
Prices rise with fruit size, so check the product page for the current price.
Market Yard, Mandai or online: what changes
Pune has good mango trade of its own. The wholesale fruit market at Market Yard in Gultekdi takes Konkan Hapus by the peti in season, and retail stalls in Mahatma Phule Mandai, Camp, Kothrud and Aundh sell from those lots. Many Pune families also have a Konkan connection and get a peti sent up by a relative. Buying mango online in Pune is a third route, and it suits a different buyer.
| Point | Market Yard or Mandai stall | Online order from us |
|---|---|---|
| What you see | The fruit in front of you, often mixed sizes in a peti | A named size grade, with fruit weight in grams, before you pay |
| Origin | Depends on the stall; ask for the taluka | Ratnagiri or Devgad named on the product page |
| Ripening | Ask how the lot was ripened | Hay beds, no carbide, stated on every page |
| Price | Bargained per peti or per dozen, changes daily | Fixed per dozen by grade; shipping shown at checkout |
| Convenience | A trip in Pune traffic | Delivered to your door by Blue Dart |
Neither route is wrong. If you like to pick fruit by hand and bargain, the market is a pleasure. If you want a known grade delivered to Baner, Hadapsar or Pimpri without a trip, order online. Our note on Alphonso cost online versus the local market goes into the price side.
Ratnagiri or Devgad for a Pune home
Both are the same variety, Alphonso, grown in the same GI belt. Ratnagiri is a district on the Konkan coast; Devgad is a taluka in neighbouring Sindhudurg district. We do not rank one above the other, and we do not claim that one ripens earlier or tastes sweeter. Pick by what you already know you like, or try one dozen of each in the same week and decide for yourself.

Alphonso fruits generally weigh 150 to 300 g, and we grade by that weight. A dozen of 150 to 180 g fruit is Rs 1,849; a dozen of 275 to 300 g fruit is Rs 2,999. Smaller fruit suits daily eating and aamras; larger fruit suits a gift. A dozen weighs roughly 1.8 to 3.3 kg depending on grade. Our Ratnagiri and Devgad Hapus guide explains the two names in more detail.
Mango delivery to Pune
We dispatch by Blue Dart, and about 65% of Indian PIN codes get next-day delivery. Check your PIN code at checkout. Orders received before 1 PM are dispatched the same day. We do not promise a delivery day for Pune or for any named area, because the PIN code and the courier route decide it. Read the message the checkout shows for your PIN code; that is the only timing we stand behind.
- Give an address where someone will be at home. In a gated society, tell the gate to expect a Blue Dart box, so it is not left in the sun.
- Open the box on the day it arrives and lay the fruit out in a single layer.
- If anything is damaged, report it within 24 hours of delivery to support@alphonsomango.in or 8369048029.
Our guides on the delivery period for mangoes and mango home delivery cover timing and packing in more detail.
How the fruit is harvested and ripened
Our fruit is hand-harvested at Brahma Muhurta, before dawn, with a zela pole fitted with a catching net, so the mango is never dropped. Harvest to ripening of Alphonso takes about 15 days, which is why a box can arrive with some fruit still firm.

Calcium carbide is prohibited for ripening fruit in India under Regulation 2.3.5 of the Food Safety and Standards (Prohibition and Restrictions on Sales) Regulations, 2011, and we are an FSSAI-licensed seller. Firm fruit ripens at room temperature in Pune within a few days. Keep it out of the fridge until it is soft at the shoulder and smells sweet at the stalk. The full method is in our guide to ripening Alphonso at home.
Mango season in Pune and what to order when
Alphonso is harvested about February to June, with the best supply from March to May. The 2027 season opens on 1 February 2027. Fresh Alphonso is not sold outside the season, so an order placed before it opens is for the opening of the season, not for stock on a shelf. Kesar from Gujarat overlaps the later part of the Alphonso season.
- February: the first fruit, in smaller quantities.
- March to May: the widest choice of size grades, and the time to order for Gudi Padwa and for aamras-puri at home.
- June: the tail of the season, before the monsoon reaches the Konkan.
- July to January: no fresh Alphonso; the Alphonso pulp tin covers aamras, mastani and kulfi.
Pune's own mango mastani, the thick mango milkshake served with ice cream, is best with ripe Alphonso pulp. For a gift to a Pune address, see our gifting page. Questions before you order: support@alphonsomango.in or 8369048029.
People also ask
Which mango is best in Pune?
Alphonso, called Hapus, from the Ratnagiri and Devgad belt is the mango Pune waits for each summer. Kesar from Gujarat is a good second choice later in the season. Choose by what you like: Alphonso for aroma and a non-fibrous pulp, Kesar for a lighter, lower-priced box.
What is the price of mangoes in Pune per dozen?
Our Alphonso from Ratnagiri and Devgad is sold by the dozen from Rs 1,849, rising with fruit size to Rs 2,999 for the largest grade. Kesar is Rs 999 for a half-dozen and Rs 1,699 for a dozen. Shipping is shown at checkout. Check the product page for the current price.
Where can I buy mangoes in Pune?
Pune buyers have three routes: wholesale lots at Market Yard in Gultekdi, retail stalls in Mandai and the suburbs, or an online order delivered by courier. We deliver Ratnagiri and Devgad Alphonso to any Pune PIN code by Blue Dart, with the size grade and origin stated before you pay.
Is mango mastani famous in Pune?
Yes. Mango mastani is a thick mango milkshake topped with ice cream, nuts and sometimes fruit, and Pune is the city known for it. It tastes best with ripe Alphonso pulp. Outside the fresh season, an Alphonso pulp tin gives the same base for mastani at home.
Which is better for Pune, Devgad or Ratnagiri Alphonso?
Neither. Both are the same variety from the same GI belt: Ratnagiri is a district and Devgad is a taluka in Sindhudurg. We do not rank them or claim one ripens earlier. Order a dozen of each in the same week and keep the one your family prefers.
