Delivery period for mangoes — Alphonso Hapus from Ratnagiri and Devgad dispatched across India

We source Alphonso mangoes from 55 named villages across Ratnagiri and Sindhudurg districts — places like Pawas, Golap and Nachane in Ratnagiri taluka, and Devgad, Jamsande and Vijaydurg in Devgad taluka. Every box is dispatched within 48–72 hours of harvest. No cold-store blending. No fruit sitting in a warehouse waiting for a consolidated shipment.

Order during the February–June season. We do not sell fresh Alphonso July to January — that is the honest limit, and any site claiming otherwise is not selling genuine GI-tagged Hapus.

Delivery Across India

Delivery time for mangoes across India — Alphonso Hapus dispatched by BlueDart, Delhivery, Ekart, XpressBees

We dispatch via BlueDart, Delhivery, Ekart or XpressBees — which courier depends on your pin code. We cover 15,000–17,000 serviceable pin codes across India.

Transit windows from date of dispatch:

  • Mumbai and MMR: 20–24 hours
  • Maharashtra (rest): 2–4 days
  • Western India: 3–4 days
  • North India: 2–3 days (metro cities); up to 4 days for Tier 2 and 3 cities
  • Eastern India (Kolkata hub onwards): 5–7 days
  • South India: 3–5 days

From harvest to your door, the chain looks like this: roughly 2 hours from the orchard to our Ratnagiri or Devgad packhouse; post-harvest cooling; 10–12 hours in an air-conditioned vehicle to our Mumbai packhouse; 24–48 hours of natural hay-bed ripening there; then dispatch. Total: 48–72 hours from harvest to courier handoff.

Fruit leaves us at 70–80% ripeness — firm enough for transit, ripe enough to finish perfectly within about three days of delivery. Do not refrigerate on arrival. Keep the box in a cool room, leave the mangoes on the hay, and let them finish naturally.

What is the packaging for transit?

Each box is a top-and-bottom 5-ply corrugated fibreboard (CFB) box, 130 gsm paper, alternate flute orientation, courier-grade. Reinforced corners. A 12-slot partition carries the transit pressure so the fruit does not. Every mango sits in a foam-net sleeve (flat width 50–55 mm, length 100–120 mm by fruit size) on a hay bed, with six air holes top and bottom to let condensation evaporate. The foam net prevents lenticel blackening from skin friction — a real risk with Alphonso, whose lenticels darken if rubbed during vibration.

If a mango arrives damaged, photograph it and contact us within 24 hours of delivery. We replace 100%.

Mango Season and Availability

Alphonso season runs February to June, with peak supply in March, April and May. The season is sharp — it does not drift into July. We do not sell fresh Alphonso between July and January. Kesar from the Gir region (GI Tag No. 185) is available through a slightly different window; check the collection page for current stock.

Why is the delivery period for mangoes so time-sensitive?

Alphonso is not a year-round commodity fruit. Each orchard in our 55-village network typically produces one crop per alternate year — that is how the trees are managed for Brix consistency. Prashant Powle and the team at Powle Home Foods select each orchard before flowering, not at harvest, which means if a village like Girye or Kunkeshwar in Devgad taluka has a weak year (as 2025 was, with unseasonal rain cutting yields sharply), allocations tighten fast. Ordering early in the season — March or early April — gives you the best choice of grade and the most reliable delivery slot.

How We Ripen and Pack

Tasty Alphonso mangoes ripened on hay beds — no carbide, no ethylene — delivery period mangoes

No ethylene chambers. No calcium carbide. No artificial ripening agents of any kind. The 24–48 hours at our Mumbai packhouse is natural ripening on hay — the traditional Aadi method — in temperature-controlled rooms. It is monitored, not gas-triggered.

Before packing, every mango is weighed and graded. AI/ML-assisted machine scanning checks each fruit for internal defects (spongy tissue is the main one) and external deformities. A mango that passes scanning but fails the manual weight check does not go in a box. This is why our Medium grade sits at 180–225 g and our Jumbo at 275–300 g — those are not marketing labels, they are post-scale cutoffs.

Fruit is harvested by hand using a Nutan or Zela pole fitted with a catching net and cutting mechanism. The tree is never shaken. Fruit never falls. For tall trees, we use an indigenously developed length-extending pole fitted with a camera so the harvester can see what they are cutting. Latex from the stem is managed at harvest to prevent cross-contamination during packing — another reason the foam-net sleeve matters.

In June 2026, Prashant Powle was quoted in The Economic Times on the weather-driven existential pressures on Alphonso yield — the kind of ground-level knowledge that comes from sourcing across 55 villages, not from a central cold store.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the price of Alphonso mangoes online?

Price varies by grade and season. Visit the mango collection for current season pricing. Jumbo and Extra Large grades are priced higher than Small and Medium due to strict post-scale grading at the Malvan and Devgad packing centres.

When is the Alphonso mango season?

Alphonso season runs February to June, peaking in March, April and May. We do not sell fresh Alphonso July to January. Orders placed in March or early April typically have the widest grade availability and most reliable delivery slots.

What is the delivery period for mangoes ordered online?

1–3 days to most Indian cities from the date of dispatch. Mumbai and MMR: 20–24 hours. Eastern India: up to 5–7 days. Courier is BlueDart, Delhivery, Ekart or XpressBees by pin code, across 15,000–17,000 serviceable pin codes.

People Also Ask

How long does mango take to deliver?

Alphonso mangoes from Ratnagiri and Devgad reach most Indian cities in 1–3 days from dispatch. Mumbai and MMR orders arrive in 20–24 hours. North India metros get 2–3 days. Eastern India takes 5–7 days. Dispatch itself happens within 48–72 hours of harvest, via BlueDart, Delhivery, Ekart or XpressBees depending on your pin code.

Fruit leaves at 70–80% ripeness and finishes naturally within about three days of delivery — keep it in the box on the hay, not in the fridge.

Is there a mango shortage right now?

Supply tightens most years in April and May when peak demand meets a naturally short season. Unseasonal rain — as in 2025 — can cut yields sharply across the Konkan. Allocations from individual villages are fixed before flowering, not at harvest, so once a grade sells out for a given week, it is gone until the next dispatch cycle.

Ordering in March or early April gives you the widest choice of grade and the most reliable slot across our 55-village Ratnagiri and Sindhudurg network.

What is the best month to buy mangoes?

March and April are the best months to buy Alphonso mangoes. Supply is at its highest, the fruit has reached peak Brix (18–24°), and you have the full range of grades — Small through Jumbo — available. May is excellent too but supply from individual orchards starts thinning. The season closes by June and does not extend into July.
