We sell Alphonso from the Konkan coast and publish our GI certificate number. We are AlphonsoMango.in, run by Powle Home Foods in Mumbai. We made our first sales offline in 2019 and have sold online since 2020. Our customer count is 47,000+, including offline and marketplace sales.

The fruit comes from 48 villages across the Ratnagiri and Devgad belt. We hold a GI Authorised User certificate, AU/5974/GI/139/260, for Alphonso (GI No. 139, Ratnagiri). You can see the details on our Brand Facts page.

A practical note first. Outside the season we do not sell fresh Alphonso. The 2027 season opens on 1 February 2027. Alphonso is harvested from about February to June, and supply is best from March to May. Alphonso pulp tins are available all year if you want the taste before the season.

Devgad vs Ratnagiri Alphonso: which one for your family

Both carry the same GI claim and both are Alphonso. Devgad hapus is not a different mango from Ratnagiri. It is the same variety, grown in the Ratnagiri district and the Devgad taluka of Sindhudurg. Choose by grade, box size and taste.

If you have never ordered before, start with one dozen. If you buy for gifting in Koramangala, HSR Layout, Indiranagar or Whitefield, either works, so choose by grade and the size of box you need. A dozen weighs roughly 1.8 to 3.3 kg depending on grade.

Prefer another variety? Kesar mango starts from Rs 999 per box and Pairi is Rs 2,799 for a dozen. Neither of these carries the Alphonso GI claim.

When the box arrives

  • Open the box when it arrives and look at the fruit.
  • Keep the fruit at room temperature until it softens slightly. Do not refrigerate unripe mangoes; refrigerate once ripe.
  • Ripe fruit smells sweet at the stem end and gives slightly under your thumb. Once ripe, refrigerate and eat within a few days.

If something is damaged

If a box arrives damaged, write to us and we will look at it.

Buying Alphonso in Bangalore: what to check

Here is what to check on any seller, including us.

  • Ask for the GI Authorised User certificate number and look at the seller's own page for it. Ours is AU/5974/GI/139/260.
  • Look for an FSSAI licence on the seller's page. We are an FSSAI-licensed seller.
  • Ask how the fruit is ripened, and ask for a plain answer.
  • Ask what the seller does if a box arrives damaged, and get the answer before you pay.
  • Ask where the fruit was grown. We source from 48 villages in the Ratnagiri and Devgad belt.
  • Do not trust colour. A yellow skin can be misleading about how a mango was ripened.
  • The bucket and water test is a rough clue, not proof. No home test proves authenticity.
