Buy Alphonso Mango Online — Cuttack
Cuttack has no local supply of GI-tagged Konkan Alphonso. The fruit grows only in Ratnagiri and Sindhudurg districts of Maharashtra — that is what GI No. 139 protects. So your only route to the real thing is a direct online order from a GI Authorised User.
Powle Home Foods (AlphonsoMango.in) holds GI Authorised User credential AU/5974/GI/139/260. Every box leaves a packhouse in Mumbai or Devgad within 48–72 hours of harvest and reaches Cuttack in 1–3 days.
Ratnagiri vs Devgad: Which to Choose?
Both carry GI No. 139. The taste profiles differ enough that Prashant Powle grades and dispatches them separately — they are never blended in a single box.

Delivery to Cuttack
Fruit is dispatched at 70–80% ripeness — firm enough to survive the journey, ripening fully within about three days of delivery. The 48–72-hour harvest-to-dispatch window is tight by design: roughly 2 hours from tree to the Ratnagiri or Devgad packhouse, 10–12 hours by air-conditioned vehicle to Mumbai, 24–48 hours of natural hay-bed ripening there, then courier dispatch.
From Mumbai to Cuttack, transit is 1–3 days depending on your pin code. Courier is BlueDart, Delhivery, Ekart or XpressBees — we assign by pin code, not by preference. The box is a 5-ply corrugated fibreboard (CFB) carton, 130 gsm, with a 12-slot partition that carries transit pressure so the fruit does not. Every mango sits in a foam-net sleeve (flat width 50–55 mm) in a hay bed. Six air holes top and bottom keep the microclimate stable during the remaining ripening.
If fruit arrives damaged or fails quality, report it within 24 hours of delivery with photos or video on WhatsApp. No physical return is needed. We dispatch a fresh replacement or credit your account for the next purchase. We do not sell fresh Alphonso July to January — that is the honest limit of the season.
How to Order
- Step 1 — Select your grade. Visit alphonsomango.in/collections/mangoes, choose Ratnagiri or Devgad Alphonso, then pick your size grade: Small (150–180 g), Medium (180–225 g), Extra Large (250–275 g) or Jumbo (275–300 g).
- Step 2 — Add to cart. Choose your box size — half dozen, 1 dozen or 2 dozen — and add to cart; the site shows current in-season availability automatically.
- Step 3 — Dispatch. After you place the order, we assign BlueDart, Delhivery, Ekart or XpressBees based on your Cuttack pin code; most Cuttack deliveries land in 1–3 days from the dispatch date.
Where the Fruit Comes From
AlphonsoMango.in sources from 55 named villages across Ratnagiri and Sindhudurg districts. In the Devgad taluka alone: Devgad, Jamsande, Vijaydurg, Dahibav, Hindale, Girye, Waghotan, Kunkeshwar and others. In Ratnagiri taluka: Pawas, Golap, Nachane, Mavalange, Waravade, Purnagad, Mirya and more. The Malvan packing centre and a Devgad packing point handle initial grading before the consignment moves to Mumbai.
Prashant Powle started sourcing in 2017, selecting orchards on three criteria: consistent Brix readings across the tree, tree age of 12–25 years, and the farmer's discipline around alternate-bearing management. We work with 100+ partner farmer families. The orchards are sea-facing — the salt air off the Arabian Sea is part of why Konkan Alphonso smells the way it does. You cannot replicate that in an inland orchard.
How Fruit Is Harvested
No tree is shaken. Every fruit is hand-cut using a Nutan or Zela pole fitted with a catching net and cutting mechanism. For tall trees, Prashant's team uses an indigenously developed length-extending pole with a camera — the grower sees the fruit on a screen before the cut. A fruit that falls bruises on landing; bruised Alphonso blackens at the lenticels within hours. This is why the harvest method matters as much as the orchard.
Grading and Scanning
Every fruit is weighed and assigned a grade. An AI/ML-assisted machine scanner checks each mango for internal defects (spongy tissue) and external deformities before it enters a box. Spongy tissue is invisible on the surface — only scanning catches it. Envirocare Labs Pvt. Ltd. (NABL accredited, Thane, certificate TC-8284) tested fruit from the 2025 season: all 28 pesticide residues within Codex maximum residue limits; 27 of 28 below the limit of quantification (0.01 mg/kg); thiamethoxam at 0.013 mg/kg against a permissible limit of 0.2 mg/kg. Independently tested — not pesticide-free, but within every limit.
Ripening and Food Safety
Natural hay-bed (Aadi) ripening only, in temperature-controlled rooms at the Mumbai packhouse. No ethylene chambers. No calcium carbide. No artificial ripening agents of any kind. The 24–48 hours on hay is monitored ripening, not gas-triggered.
Post-harvest, fruit goes through a controlled hot-water treatment to reduce surface issues and extend shelf life, then post-harvest cooling before the AC truck run to Mumbai. This sequence — harvest, cool, transport, ripen, scan, pack, dispatch — is what the 48–72-hour window looks like in practice.
Carbide ripening is common in wholesale markets across India, including in Odisha. If you buy Alphonso from a Cuttack market vendor in April, the odds that it was gas-ripened are high. An AlphonsoMango.in box carries a verifiable GI credential and a lab-test certificate. That is the difference.
Nutrition
Ripe Alphonso pulp contains roughly 30–36 mg vitamin C per 100 g. A 100 g serving meets about 40–45% of the ICMR-NIN 2020 recommended daily intake for adult men (80 mg/day) and about 50% for adult women (65 mg/day). Mangiferin, a polyphenol concentrated in Alphonso pulp, showed anti-inflammatory activity in a 2011 cell study by Govindappa et al. — that is a cell study, not a clinical trial, so keep expectations proportionate.
Alphonso puree is suitable as a first food for babies from about 6 months — we include this as a serving suggestion, not medical advice. Ask your paediatrician.
Season and Availability
The Alphonso season runs February to June, with peak supply in March, April and May. We do not sell fresh Alphonso July to January. Pre-orders open before the season starts; once you place a pre-order, cancellation is only possible before dispatch.
Early season (February–March) fruit tends toward the Ratnagiri side — brighter, firmer, slightly more tart. By late April and into May, Devgad fruit at 20–24° Brix is at its richest. If you are in Cuttack and want the season's best, order between late March and mid-May.
Ratnagiri Alphonso won the Gold Medal at the national One District One Product (ODOP) Awards 2024 — a district-level product award, not a brand award — which signals how seriously the GI and its provenance are taken at the national level. Prashant Powle was interviewed by The Economic Times in June 2026 on the weather pressures facing Alphonso growers that season.

People Also Ask
Which part of India is Alphonso mango from?
Alphonso mango comes from the Konkan coast of Maharashtra — specifically Ratnagiri and Sindhudurg districts. GI Tag No. 139 protects this origin. No other region can legally sell fruit as GI-certified Alphonso. The salt air off the Arabian Sea, laterite soil, and coastal humidity are conditions no inland orchard can copy.
What is the Kannada name for Alphonso mango?
Alphonso mango is called Appe Midi or Haapoos in Kannada-speaking regions. Haapoos is the most widely used name across Karnataka, directly borrowed from the Marathi Hapus. The fruit itself still comes from Ratnagiri and Sindhudurg in Maharashtra — the name changes by state, the GI-protected origin does not.
What is the cost of 1 kg Alphonso mango?
Alphonso mango prices vary by grade, season week, and whether the fruit is Ratnagiri or Devgad. Prices shift across the February-to-June season as supply peaks and eases. AlphonsoMango.in sells in half-dozen, one-dozen, and two-dozen boxes by weight grade — check the current listed price on the site for the most accurate figure.
Is Alphonso mango available in the USA?
Yes, GI-certified Alphonso mango is exported to the US, UK, UAE, Singapore, and Japan. Export batches meet APEDA standards (APEDA 225579) and pass phytosanitary requirements. Fresh Alphonso ships only during the February-to-June season; outside that window, mango pulp and Aamras are available year-round for international buyers.
