Alphonso mango in Prayagraj (Allahabad) comes from the Ratnagiri and Devgad belt of the Konkan coast, not from Uttar Pradesh. You order by the dozen on AlphonsoMango.in, from Rs 1,849 per dozen, and Blue Dart delivers to your PIN code.
Alphonso mango in Prayagraj: what you are buying

People in Prayagraj, still called Allahabad by many, search for Alphonso mango because they want the real Hapus from the Konkan and not a look-alike. Alphonso from the Ratnagiri and Devgad belt is GI-tagged in India (GI No. 139), and we hold the GI Authorised User certificate AU/5974/GI/139/260 (GI No. 139). This page explains how an order from us reaches Prayagraj and what to check at every step.
We are Powle Home Foods in Mumbai, and we run AlphonsoMango.in. We started selling offline in 2019 and online in 2020, and we have served 47,000+ customers, including offline and marketplace sales. Our fruit is sourced across 48 villages of the Ratnagiri and Devgad belt, and we are an FSSAI-licensed seller.
The fruit is sold by the dozen. Our Devgad Alphonso Mango page and Ratnagiri Alphonso Mango page both start from Rs 1,849 per dozen, and the price rises with the size of the fruit.
Why Prayagraj gets its Alphonso from the Konkan
Uttar Pradesh is one of the biggest mango-growing states in India, and the mangoes most people there grew up with are Dasheri, Langra and Chausa. Prayagraj itself is better known for its guavas than for Alphonso. Alphonso is a Konkan fruit. It grows on the western coast of Maharashtra, between the Arabian Sea and the Deccan Plateau, and the Ratnagiri and Sindhudurg districts are the places most buyers mean when they say Hapus.
That is why a Prayagraj family cannot walk to a local orchard for Alphonso. The fruit has to travel from the coast, and we send every box by Blue Dart. If you also enjoy the northern mangoes, our guide to Alphonso mango in Lucknow covers another Uttar Pradesh city, and our Patna delivery guide covers a neighbouring state.
- Alphonso (Hapus): Konkan coast, Maharashtra. Sold by us from Ratnagiri and Devgad.
- Dasheri, Langra, Chausa: the northern Indian mangoes. We do not sell these.
- Kesar: a Gujarat variety with orange pulp, which we sell separately.
Ratnagiri or Devgad for a Prayagraj order
Ratnagiri is a district and Devgad is a taluka in Sindhudurg district. Both grow Alphonso, the same variety, and we do not rank one above the other. We do not claim that either one is sweeter or ripens earlier. If you are curious, you can order a dozen of each and decide for yourself.

Our longer guide to Ratnagiri and Devgad Alphonso explains the two places. If you are unsure, start with one dozen of the size that suits your family and add a second dozen later.
Sizes, dozens and price from Rs 1,849
A dozen is twelve fruits, and a dozen weighs roughly 1.8 to 3.3 kg depending on grade. An Alphonso fruit generally weighs 150 to 300 g, so the grade you pick decides the box weight. Prices begin at Rs 1,849 per dozen and go up to Rs 5,399 for the largest Ratnagiri option. Check the product page for the current price, because prices can change.
| Your need | What to pick |
|---|---|
| Eating fresh at home | One dozen of a mid-size grade, so the fruit ripens together. |
| Gifting within Prayagraj | Larger grades look better in the box; write to us first with your date and quantity. |
| Aamras or milkshakes | Smaller grades cost less per dozen; the pulp tin is another route. |
| Trying both origins | One dozen each of Ratnagiri and Devgad. |
We do not quote a price per kilogram, because a dozen is the unit we sell. If you compare us with a local seller, compare the count and the fruit size as well as the rupee figure.
Delivery to Prayagraj and what to do when the box arrives
We dispatch by Blue Dart, and about 65% of Indian PIN codes get next-day delivery. Check your PIN code at checkout. We do not promise a delivery day for any named city, so the PIN code check at checkout is the step that matters for Prayagraj. Our delivery period guide explains how the timing works in general.
- Open the box on the day it arrives and lift the fruit out gently.
- Keep the fruit at room temperature, away from direct sun, until the aroma builds and the skin gives slightly near the stalk.
- Move only ripe fruit to the fridge, and eat it within a few days.
- If anything is damaged, report it to us within 24 hours of delivery.
Alphonso takes about 15 days from harvest to ripening, so a box that arrives firm is normal. Our guide to ripening Alphonso at home lists the signs of ripeness.
How the fruit is ripened

Our fruit is hand-harvested with a zela pole fitted with a catching net, at Brahma Muhurta, the pre-dawn hour. We do not use carbide. Our Alphonso mangoes are ripened naturally on hay beds. Selling fruit ripened with calcium carbide gas is prohibited under Regulation 2.3.5 of the Food Safety and Standards (Prohibition and Restrictions on Sales) Regulations, 2011, so ask any seller how the fruit was ripened and expect a plain answer.
A bucket-of-water test is only a rough clue, not proof. If you want to learn more, read our guide to identifying carbide-ripened mangoes online.
Season dates and what to order in the off-season
Alphonso is harvested about February to June, with the best supply from March to May. The 2027 season opens on 1 February 2027. Outside the season we do not sell fresh Alphonso, and the fresh mango listings stay closed until the new crop. Alphonso pulp tins are available all year, in 850 g and 3.1 kg sizes from Rs 590, on our Alphonso Mango Pulp page.

We also sell cashews, and you can browse the W320 cashew nuts if you want something to go with the mangoes. Check the product page of each item for its own price.
