Prices on the open market move daily, so a number quoted in a video or a forum post is rarely the number you will pay. What stays useful is knowing what a fair listing contains. Here is what our own store lists. All figures are "from" prices for a dozen unless stated, and the product page always shows the price for the option you pick.

What moves the Alphonso price

Alphonso mango price in India factors affecting hapus aam rate

Two boxes labelled "1 dozen Alphonso" can cost very different amounts. Five things explain most of the gap.

  • Fruit size and grade. Alphonso generally weighs 150 to 300 g. A dozen of the larger fruit costs more than a dozen of the smaller grade because there is more fruit in it and fewer trees produce the biggest sizes.
  • Number of dozens. A two-dozen or five-dozen box costs more in total than a single dozen, though the box count is the same grade.
  • Origin. Alphonso grown in the Ratnagiri and Devgad belt of the Konkan coast carries a GI tag. We hold GI Authorised User certificate AU/5974/GI/139/260 (GI No. 139).
  • Handling and ripening. Hand-harvesting, careful packing and ripening time all add cost. We do not use carbide. Our Alphonso mangoes are ripened naturally on hay beds.
  • Timing. Alphonso is harvested about February to June, with supply best from March to May. Early and late supply is thinner, and prices can move with it.

Why we do not quote Alphonso price per kg

Many searches ask for the price of 1 kg of Alphonso. We sell by the dozen, so we do not publish a per-kg figure. A dozen weighs roughly 1.8 to 3.3 kg depending on grade, and the price changes with the grade you choose. A per-kg number only means something once you know the size of the fruit.

If any seller quotes per kg, ask three things: how many fruits make a kilo, which grade they are, and whether the weight includes packing. For a longer note on weights, see our guide to how much a mango weighs and our mango wholesale guide.

Planning a budget for your box

Start with the purpose, then the grade, then the quantity. A gift box for a client or an elder in the family usually justifies a larger grade, because even size and an unbroken look matter. A family that eats mangoes daily and makes aamras at home may prefer a smaller grade and more pieces for the same money. Someone who only needs flavour for desserts can skip fresh fruit and use pulp.

Count the people and the days. A dozen is plenty for a small household over a few days, since ripe Alphonso should be eaten soon after it softens. If you are buying for a festival or a wedding, a multi-dozen box is simpler than many single dozens, and you can write to us with your quantity, cities and dates before you order.

How to compare two sellers fairly

A lower price is only a better deal when everything else matches. Use this short checklist and put the answers side by side.

What to compare before judging a price
Question Why it matters
Fruits per dozen and grade A larger grade weighs more and costs more.
Origin Ratnagiri and Devgad are the Konkan places the GI tag covers.
Ripening method Carbide is prohibited in India for ripening fruit.
Papers An FSSAI licence number; for Alphonso, a GI Authorised User certificate.
Delivery and damage How the box travels and who to tell if it arrives damaged.

Calcium carbide is prohibited for ripening fruit under Regulation 2.3.5 of the Food Safety and Standards (Prohibition and Restrictions on Sales) Regulations, 2011. Price alone cannot tell you whether a box is genuine, so ask the questions above. Ratnagiri or Devgad: does origin change the price?

Ratnagiri is a district, and Devgad is a taluka in Sindhudurg district. Both grow the same variety, Alphonso, also called Hapus. We do not rank one above the other, and both of our listings start from Rs 1,849 per dozen. Choose by the grade and box size that suits your family or your gift. Our note on Ratnagiri and Devgad Hapus explains the two places.

Our fruit is sourced across 48 villages of the belt and hand-harvested with a zela pole fitted with a catching net. We have served 47,000+ customers, including offline and marketplace sales.

People also ask

What is the Alphonso mango price in India?

Our Ratnagiri and Devgad Alphonso start from Rs 1,849 per dozen, and the price rises with the grade and the number of dozens in the box. The largest listing on our order-online page goes up to Rs 10,499. Check the product page for the price of each option.

How much does 1 kg of Alphonso mango cost?

We sell by the dozen, not by the kilo, so we do not publish a per-kg figure. A dozen weighs roughly 1.8 to 3.3 kg depending on grade, and our dozens start from Rs 1,849. If a seller quotes per kg, ask the count and grade per kilo.

Why is Alphonso mango so expensive?

Several things add up: a short harvest from about February to June, hand-harvesting, careful packing, natural ripening that takes days and the Konkan origin that carries a GI tag. Larger fruit also costs more because fewer trees yield the biggest sizes. Grade and box size explain most of the difference.

Which is costlier, Ratnagiri or Devgad Alphonso?

We do not rank them. Both are the same variety, Alphonso, and both of our listings start from Rs 1,849 per dozen. What changes the price is the grade and the box size you choose, not the place, so compare options on the product pages.

When can I buy fresh Alphonso in India?

Alphonso is harvested about February to June, with the best supply from March to May. The 2027 season opens on 1 February 2027. Outside the season we do not sell fresh Alphonso, but Alphonso pulp tins are available all year.
