How much Ratnagiri Hapus should you order

Alphonso is a fruit you finish in days, not weeks, so order for the days you will actually be eating it. A box does not ripen all at once; some fruit is ready within days and some later. These rules of thumb help:

Choosing a box by use
Use Grade to look at Box
Daily eating, children 150 to 180 g 1 dozen, from Rs 1,849
Family table, bigger slices 180 to 250 g 1 dozen, Rs 2,099 to Rs 2,499
Gift for one household 250 to 300 g 1 dozen, Rs 2,699 to Rs 2,999
Aamras for a gathering Any grade 2 dozen, Rs 3,499 to Rs 5,399

If you only need a few fruits, you can also look at the Kesar mango (half-dozen Rs 999). For a pantry that lasts beyond the season, the Alphonso pulp tin (850 g and 3.1 kg, from Rs 590) is available all year.

Delivery, PIN codes and being at home

We dispatch by Blue Dart, and about 65% of Indian PIN codes get next-day delivery. Orders received before 1 PM are dispatched the same day. Check your PIN code at checkout. We do not promise a delivery day for any named city, because the PIN code and the courier route decide it. Enter your PIN code before you pay and read the message the checkout shows; that message is the only timing we stand behind.

  • Be available. Give an address where a person will be present on a working day. A perishable box should not sit in a lobby or a hot vehicle.
  • Season. Alphonso is harvested about February to June, with the best supply from March to May. The 2027 season opens on 1 February 2027, and we do not sell fresh Alphonso outside it.
  • Charges. Shipping is shown at checkout; our shipping charges guide explains how it is worked out.

After the box arrives: a simple ripening plan

We do not use carbide. Our Alphonso mangoes are ripened naturally on hay beds. Calcium carbide is prohibited for ripening fruit in India under Regulation 2.3.5 of the Food Safety and Standards (Prohibition and Restrictions on Sales) Regulations, 2011; ethylene up to 100 ppm is the permitted alternative. We are an FSSAI-licensed seller. Fruit is hand-harvested with a zela pole fitted with a catching net, and harvest to ripening takes about 15 days, so some mangoes arrive firm.

What to do once the box is in your home
When What to do
On arrival Open the box, lay the fruit in a single layer at room temperature, away from sun, and set aside any damaged piece.
Each morning Smell the stalk end and press the shoulder gently. A sweet smell and a slight give mean ripe.
Ripe fruit Eat it that day, or chill it briefly. Do not chill firm fruit; cold stops ripening.
Surplus Make aamras and freeze it in small portions.

Alphonso can develop spongy tissue, an internal flesh disorder; ICAR-IIHR research traced it to the seed shifting into germination mode at about 60% fruit maturity. Report any damage within 24 hours of delivery. Our guide to ripening Alphonso at home has the full method.

Five questions to ask before you pay, to us or anyone

An online mango order is a trust purchase, because you cannot touch the fruit first. These questions are fair to put to any seller:

  1. Which district or village is the fruit from? "Konkan" alone is a region, not an origin.
  2. What size grade and what weight is a dozen? Grams per fruit and kilograms per box.
  3. How was it ripened? We answer that on every page: hay beds, no carbide.
  4. What does delivery cost, and to which PIN codes? It should be visible before payment.
  5. Who do I contact if something is wrong? We list support@alphonsomango.in and 8369048029, and ask that damage be reported within 24 hours of delivery.

Alphonso is a perishable gift, so the person who receives it matters as much as the grade you pick. Tell the recipient to expect a courier, and ask them to open the box on arrival. A gift that sits unopened in a warm hallway ripens too fast and may bruise.

Prices on the order-online page and on the Ratnagiri page match at the one-dozen grades; use whichever page suits you. See Order Alphonso Mango online for the full set of pack sizes.

Where the fruit comes from

We source across 55 villages of the Ratnagiri and Devgad belt on the Konkan coast. Ratnagiri is a district; Devgad is a taluka in Sindhudurg district. Both grow the same variety under the same GI, and we do not rank one above the other. Alphonso from this belt is GI-tagged in India under GI No. 139, and we hold GI Authorised User certificate AU/5974/GI/139/260 (GI No. 139).
