Alphonso mango in Faridabad

Faridabad is an industrial city in Haryana, part of the Delhi NCR, and most of its fruit comes through the big wholesale markets of the region. Alphonso, called Hapus in Maharashtra (हापुस आम in Hindi), does not grow here. It comes from the Konkan coast. We are Powle Home Foods in Mumbai, and we run AlphonsoMango.in. We sell Alphonso from the Ratnagiri and Devgad belt, and Kesar from Gujarat, and we send both to Faridabad PIN codes by courier.

Ratnagiri Alphonso mango box for delivery to Faridabad

Our fruit is sourced across 48 villages of the Ratnagiri and Devgad belt and hand-harvested with a zela pole fitted with a catching net. This page answers the questions Faridabad buyers ask most: what the rate is, how to order, how delivery works and how to ripen the fruit.

Alphonso mango rate in Faridabad: what we list and what changes it

People search for the "mango rate in Faridabad" and "mandi price" because wholesale rates move through the season. We do not publish mandi rates, and we do not quote a price per kilo. We sell by the dozen, and the dozen price depends on the grade of the fruit. These are the prices listed on our site.

Listed prices, by the dozen (check the product page for today's price)
Product Listed price
Ratnagiri Alphonso From Rs 1,849 per dozen, up to Rs 5,399 for the largest option
Devgad Alphonso From Rs 1,849 per dozen
Kesar Rs 999 for a half-dozen, Rs 1,699 for a dozen
Alphonso pulp tin From Rs 590 (850 g and 3.1 kg tins)

A dozen weighs roughly 1.8 to 3.3 kg depending on grade, which is why a larger grade costs more. Early and late weeks of the season, size, and how much fruit the trees gave in a year all affect what a seller charges. Compare two sellers by grade and weight, not by the headline number alone. Our Alphonso mango price guide explains the factors in more detail.

Alphonso or Kesar: which should you order?

Alphonso is a small, fragrant Konkan mango with rich, creamy, non-fibrous pulp. Kesar is a Gujarat mango from the Gir region, said to have been grown in 1931 by the Junagadh Wazir Sale Bhai and said to have been known as Kesar since 1934, when the Nawab of Junagadh remarked on its orange pulp. They are different fruits, and many families buy both.

Kesar mango box for delivery to Faridabad
  • Choose Alphonso for gifting, for aamras and for the classic Hapus aroma.
  • Choose Kesar if you want a lower entry price, since a half-dozen box is Rs 999.
  • Not sure? Order one dozen of one and a half-dozen of the other, and see which your family finishes first.

See the Ratnagiri Alphonso page and the Kesar mango page. Ratnagiri and Devgad are the same Alphonso variety, so we do not rank one above the other.

How to check an Alphonso before you pay

These checks apply to any seller, including us.

  • Variety and place: the listing should say Alphonso or Hapus and name Ratnagiri or Devgad.
  • GI paperwork: Alphonso from the Ratnagiri and Devgad belt is GI-tagged in India under GI No. 139. We hold GI Authorised User certificate AU/5974/GI/139/260 (GI No. 139). Our guide to the GI tag for Alphonso explains the record.
  • Food licence: look for an FSSAI licence number on the site or invoice.
  • Weight and grade: a dozen should come with a stated weight range.
  • Ripening: ask how the fruit was ripened.

We do not use carbide. Our Alphonso mangoes are ripened naturally on hay beds. Calcium carbide is prohibited for ripening fruit in India under Regulation 2.3.5 of the Food Safety and Standards (Prohibition and Restrictions on Sales) Regulations, 2011. No look or smell proves how a mango was ripened, and a bucket-of-water test is only a rough clue, not proof.

Ripening, storing and using the fruit

Keep the mangoes at room temperature, away from direct sun. Let them soften on their own and check them each day. A sweet fragrance near the stalk and a slight give near the shoulder mean the fruit is ready. Do not refrigerate unripe fruit, because cold slows ripening and can dull the flavour.

Our guide to how to ripen Alphonso mangoes at home covers timing in more detail. Ripe pulp also freezes well for later, as our note on keeping mango in the freezer explains.

Out of season, the Alphonso mango pulp tin is available all year. Faridabad buyers often use it for aamras. See our aamras recipe.
