Indian Mango Buy Online: Great Deals Await You - AlphonsoMango.in

To buy Indian mango online, start with the variety, not the website: Alphonso from Ratnagiri and Devgad, Kesar from Gujarat, or Pairi. We sell all three by the dozen at AlphonsoMango.in, from Rs 999, and send them by Blue Dart across India.

India grows more mangoes than anyone

India produces roughly 43% of the world's mangoes, about 26 million tonnes in 2023, by FAO figures that also include mangosteens and guavas. The word "mango" itself comes from the languages of the subcontinent, and the fruit is India's national fruit. The practical result for a buyer is a very long list of varieties, each tied to a region and a short season.

That is why a search for Indian mango online is really a search for a variety. A seller who cannot tell you the variety, the region and the harvest window is selling a word, not a mango. We are Powle Home Foods in Mumbai, and we run AlphonsoMango.in. We have sold mangoes since 2019 offline and online since 2020, serving 47,000+ customers, including offline and marketplace sales.

The Indian mangoes we sell

The full list is on the mango collection. Prices change with grade, so check the product page for today's price.

Alphonso: GI and what it means for the buyer

Alphonso from the Ratnagiri and Devgad belt is GI-tagged in India under GI No. 139. For Alphonso, we hold GI Authorised User certificate AU/5974/GI/139/260 (GI No. 139). Ratnagiri is a district; Devgad is a taluka in Sindhudurg district. They grow the same Alphonso, and we sell both without ranking them. Our fruit is sourced across 55 villages of the belt. The Alphonso variety is named after Afonso de Albuquerque, and mango grafting was introduced in Portuguese Goa by Jesuit missionaries.

A dozen of Alphonso weighs roughly 1.8 to 3.3 kg depending on grade, and individual fruits generally weigh 150 to 300 g. Our guide to identifying Alphonso mango explains what to ask any seller.

Gir Kesar from Junagadh

Kesar is said to have been grown in 1931 by the Junagadh Wazir Sale Bhai, and is said to have been known as Kesar since 1934, when the Nawab of Junagadh remarked on its orange pulp. We sell it by the dozen and by the half-dozen. It is a separate fruit from Alphonso and is sold on its own merits; we make no GI claim for it.

If you are choosing between the two for the first time, a half-dozen of Kesar and a dozen of Alphonso side by side is the cheapest way to learn your own preference. Our Gir Kesar mango online article has more on Kesar.

Choosing a variety by what you plan to do with it

Start from the use, then the variety. For slicing and eating plain, buyers tend to choose Alphonso or Kesar for their pulp. For aamras, either works, and so does the pulp tin when the season is over. For a gift or a festival table, the dozen box of Alphonso is the usual choice. If you have never tried the others, a small first order of each variety teaches you more than any description.

  • Cooking and shakes: pulp or ripe fruit; size does not matter.
  • Eating fresh: pick the variety whose flavour you prefer and a grade you like to hold.
  • Sharing: order by the dozen so the fruit ripens across a few days, not an afternoon.

Whatever you choose, ask the seller for the variety by name, the region, and the ripening method, and keep the answer. Those three facts are what separate one Indian mango listing from another.

Ripening and the hay-bed method

We do not use carbide. Our Alphonso mangoes are ripened naturally on hay beds. Calcium carbide is prohibited for ripening fruit in India under Regulation 2.3.5 of the Food Safety and Standards (Prohibition and Restrictions on Sales) Regulations, 2011. We are an FSSAI-licensed seller. Harvest is done at Brahma Muhurta, before dawn, and fruit is hand-harvested with a zela pole fitted with a catching net.

Alphonso takes about 15 days from harvest to ripening, so a box can arrive with some fruit firm. Keep the mangoes at room temperature in a single layer, check daily, and do not refrigerate firm fruit. The bucket-of-water test is a rough clue, not proof. Our home ripening guide has the full method.

Season and delivery

Alphonso is harvested about February to June, with the best supply from March to May. The 2027 season opens on 1 February 2027. Fresh Alphonso is not sold outside the season; the Alphonso mango pulp tin (850 g and 3.1 kg, from Rs 590) is available all year. See Alphonso mango season for more.

We dispatch by Blue Dart, and about 65% of Indian PIN codes get next-day delivery. Orders received before 1 PM are dispatched the same day. Check your PIN code at checkout. We promise no day for a named city. If anything is damaged, report it within 24 hours of delivery to support@alphonsomango.in or 8369048029.

Beyond fresh mangoes: papad and a pantry staple

Not every mango product is fresh fruit. Aam papad, also called Amba Poli, is a sun-dried mango leather that keeps well, and ours has its own Amba Poli product page; our aam papad recipe shows how it is made at home.

We also sell quinoa seeds, a separate pantry product and not a mango, in case you are filling a basket. Check each product page for the current price and availability.

People also ask

What's the best Indian mango?

There is no single best; it depends on use. Alphonso is prized for creamy, non-fibrous saffron flesh and strong aroma, Kesar for its orange pulp and scent, and others for juice or pickling. Try a dozen of Alphonso from Rs 1,849 and a half-dozen of Kesar at Rs 999, and judge for yourself.

When is the Indian mango season for buying online?

Alphonso is harvested about February to June, with the best supply from March to May, and our 2027 season opens on 1 February 2027. Other varieties arrive on their own calendars. Outside the season we do not sell fresh Alphonso, but the Alphonso mango pulp tin from Rs 590 is available all year.

What does Indian mango do to your body?

Mango is food, not medicine. Raw mango provides about 36 mg of vitamin C per 100 g, roughly 40% of the Daily Value, plus folate and potassium, and it also carries natural sugars. People managing diabetes or other conditions should ask their doctor how much is suitable. These are generic mango figures, not variety-specific.

How long does delivery take when I buy Indian mangoes online?

We dispatch by Blue Dart, and about 65% of Indian PIN codes get next-day delivery. We do not promise a day for any named city, so enter your PIN code at checkout and read the message. Alphonso takes about 15 days from harvest to ripening, so some fruit may finish ripening at home.
