Alphonso mango in Mumbai is easy to find in season, at Crawford Market, Dadar and Vashi, or online from AlphonsoMango.in. We are a Mumbai company selling GI-certified Ratnagiri and Devgad Alphonso by the dozen, with boxes starting from Rs 1,849 per dozen.
Alphonso mango in Mumbai: where it comes from
Mumbai has no Alphonso orchards inside the city, but the Konkan coast that grows the fruit lies close by to the south. Ratnagiri is a district and Devgad is a taluka in Sindhudurg district, and both sit on that coast. Many Mumbai families buy Hapus every summer, and the fruit is part of how the city marks the start of the season.

We are Powle Home Foods, based in Kurla West, Mumbai, and we run AlphonsoMango.in. Our fruit is sourced across 48 villages of the Ratnagiri and Devgad belt. We started selling offline in 2019 and online in 2020, and we have served 47,000+ customers, including offline and marketplace sales. This page is written for people who live in Mumbai and want to choose well, whether they buy from us or from a stall.
Market stall or online order: how Mumbai buyers choose
In season, Mumbaikars shop for Hapus at well-known fruit markets such as Crawford Market and Dadar, and at the wholesale market in Vashi. Buying in person lets you see and smell the fruit, which is a real advantage. The trade-off is that the stall rarely tells you which orchard the fruit came from, or how it was ripened.
An online order gives you the opposite. You do not see the fruit before it arrives, but you can ask for the details first and read them on the product page. We think both ways are reasonable. What matters is that you ask the same questions of any seller.
- Where did it grow? Ratnagiri or Devgad is a better answer than "Konkan".
- How was it ripened? Carbide is prohibited in India, so ask for a plain answer.
- How many fruits, and what size? A dozen is 12 fruits, and the weight depends on grade.
- Is there a certificate? We hold GI Authorised User certificate AU/5974/GI/139/260 (GI No. 139), listed on our Brand Facts page.
Our guide to identifying Alphonso mango explains the clues in more detail. A bucket-of-water test is only a rough clue, not proof, and no home test shows how a mango was ripened.
What a dozen costs in Mumbai
Most Mumbai buyers think in dozens, and so do we. Our Alphonso boxes start from Rs 1,849 per dozen, and the largest Ratnagiri option goes up to Rs 5,399. A dozen weighs roughly 1.8 to 3.3 kg depending on grade, so comparing a box with a price quoted by weight needs care. We do not quote a per-kilogram price, and we do not give market rates, because those move through the season.
| Product | Starting price |
|---|---|
| Ratnagiri Alphonso | From Rs 1,849 per dozen, up to Rs 5,399 for the largest option |
| Devgad Alphonso | From Rs 1,849 per dozen |
| Kesar mango | Half dozen Rs 999, dozen Rs 1,699 |
| Pairi mango | From Rs 2,799 per dozen |
| Alphonso pulp tin | From Rs 590 (850 g and 3.1 kg tins) |
Check the product page for today's price before you order, because prices can change. Our longer guide to Hapus mango price in Mumbai explains how to read a price per dozen.
Ratnagiri or Devgad: choosing for a Mumbai table
Both are Alphonso, the same variety, and both are GI-certified Alphonso. We do not rank one above the other, and we do not say that one ripens earlier or tastes sweeter. The difference is the place on the coast where the orchard stands. Mumbai households often order a dozen of each and decide for themselves which they prefer.
If you want to try the second origin, the Devgad Alphonso page sells from the same starting price. Our article on Devgad Alphonso mangoes online in Mumbai gives the Devgad side in more detail.
Alphonso is not the only mango Mumbai families buy. Kesar from Gujarat is a different variety with orange pulp, and Pairi is often used for aamras. Both are sold on their own merits, and we make no GI claim for either.
Delivery in Mumbai, Navi Mumbai and Thane
We dispatch by Blue Dart, and about 65% of Indian PIN codes get next-day delivery. Check your PIN code at checkout. We do not promise a delivery day for any named area, so the PIN code check is the step to rely on. Mumbai, Navi Mumbai and Thane all have many PIN codes, and they can differ from one another.
- Choose the dozen option and add your PIN code at checkout.
- Keep someone at home when the box is due.
- Open the box on arrival and look at the fruit. If anything is damaged, report it to us within 24 hours of delivery.

Ripening a Mumbai box at home
Selling fruit ripened with calcium carbide gas is prohibited in India under Regulation 2.3.5 of the Food Safety and Standards (Prohibition and Restrictions on Sales) Regulations, 2011. We do not use carbide. Our Alphonso mangoes are ripened naturally on hay beds. We are an FSSAI-licensed seller.
Wikipedia notes that Alphonso takes about 15 days from harvest to ripening, so fruit may arrive firm. Mumbai is humid, and the fruit will soften faster here than in a cooler city.
- Keep firm fruit at room temperature, out of direct sun.
- Check near the stalk for a sweet smell and a slight give.
- Put only ripe or cut fruit in the fridge, and eat it within a few days.
For recipes, start with our aamras recipe, which works with fresh fruit or with pulp.
