Buy Alphonso Mango — Navi Mumbai
Every mango shipped to Navi Mumbai — Airoli, Vashi, Belapur, Kharghar, Panvel — starts from one of 55 villages across Ratnagiri and Sindhudurg districts. We've supplied fruit to APMC Vashi and Crawford Market in wholesale before moving fully online. The difference now: the fruit goes directly from our Devgad or Ratnagiri packhouse to your door, with no wholesale middleman adding days or handling.
Ratnagiri vs Devgad: Which to Order?
Both carry GI No. 139. Both come from sea-facing orchards, typically 12–25 years old, selected by Prashant Powle on Brix consistency and alternate-bearing management. The difference is flavour profile and Brix range — Devgad fruit tends to sit toward the upper end of 18–24° Brix at full ripeness, while Ratnagiri delivers a slightly sharper aromatic hit. Repeat-order data from 47,000+ customers shows Mumbai buyers lean Devgad; north India leans Ratnagiri.

Delivery to Navi Mumbai and Mumbai
Fruit leaves our Devgad or Ratnagiri packhouse within 48–72 hours of harvest. Air-conditioned vehicles bring it to our Mumbai packhouse in 10–12 hours. It rests there on a hay bed for 24–48 hours of natural ripening, then dispatches via BlueDart, Delhivery, Ekart or XpressBees depending on your pin code.
Navi Mumbai — including Airoli, Vashi, Belapur, Panvel, Kharghar and Nerul — typically receives fruit within 20–24 hours of dispatch. We cover 15,000–17,000 serviceable pin codes across India.
Fruit ships at 70–80% ripeness. It's firm enough for transit and fully ripe within about three days of delivery. If fruit arrives damaged, photograph it and contact us within 24 hours of delivery — we replace 100% with photo evidence.
What we do not do: we don't use ethylene gas chambers, calcium carbide or any artificial ripening agent. We don't sell fresh Alphonso from July to January. The season ends and the fruit stops — we won't ship off-season fruit just to fill an order.
Where Alphonso (Hapus) Actually Comes From
The name comes from Afonso de Albuquerque, the Portuguese general who captured Goa in 1510. Portuguese missionaries grafted mango varieties in Konkan — the Alphonso that emerged became known locally as Hapus (हापूस in Marathi, अल्फांसो आम in Hindi). It's not a generic mango variety that grows anywhere. The GI tag restricts the name "Alphonso" to fruit from Ratnagiri and Sindhudurg districts — which is why GI No. 139 matters when you're buying.
Our sourcing covers 55 villages. In Ratnagiri taluka: Pawas, Golap, Nachane, Mavalange, Waravade, Purnagad, Mirya and others. In Devgad taluka (Sindhudurg): Devgad, Jamsande, Vijaydurg, Dahibav, Kunkeshwar and 20 more. Every orchard is sea-facing, chosen by Prashant Powle on Brix consistency and how the farmer manages alternate-bearing years. We work with 100+ partner farmer families.
Why does the sea-facing location matter?
The coastal breeze and laterite soil in these talukas produce the sugar-acid balance — 18 to 24° Brix — that defines Hapus flavour. Inland Alphonso simply doesn't taste the same, and it cannot legally carry the GI tag.
How the Fruit Is Ripened
Every mango is hand-harvested using a Nutan or Zela pole fitted with a catching net. The tree is never shaken. Fruit never falls. For tall trees, we use a length-extending pole with a camera developed specifically for this purpose — so harvesters can see and cut without guessing.
After harvest, each fruit goes through a hot-water treatment to reduce surface issues and extend shelf life. Then post-harvest cooling at the packhouse. Then 10–12 hours of air-conditioned road transport to Mumbai.
At the Mumbai packhouse, mangoes rest on a hay bed — the traditional Aadi method — in temperature-controlled rooms. No ethylene chambers. No calcium carbide. No gas of any kind. The 24–48 hours there is monitored natural ripening, not chemically triggered.
Before packing, every fruit is weighed, graded by weight band (Small 150–180 g through Jumbo 275–300 g), and scanned by AI/ML-assisted machine vision that checks for internal defects like spongy tissue and external marks. Then each mango goes into a foam-net sleeve — flat width 50–55 mm — and into a 12-slot partition inside a 5-ply corrugated fibreboard box. The partition carries transit pressure, not the fruit.
Is the fruit tested for residues?
Yes. Envirocare Labs Pvt. Ltd., Thane (NABL accredited, certificate TC-8284) tests fruit weekly through the season. Certificate 01/ETHAP2500044, issued 5 April 2025: all 28 residues within Codex maximum residue limits; 27 of 28 below the limit of quantification (0.01 mg/kg). One residue — thiamethoxam at 0.013 mg/kg — was detected, against a Codex limit of 0.2 mg/kg. We say independently tested, all residues within Codex limits. We don't say pesticide-free.
Season and Availability
The Alphonso season runs February to June, with the main volume in March, April and May. Outside those months, we don't have fresh Alphonso. Full stop. If you're reading this in August, put a reminder in your calendar for March and come back.
18% of our orders are gifts — and most of those land in April and May when the fruit is at peak Brix. If you're planning a corporate gift or a bulk order, order by late April. The tail end of June can be inconsistent depending on the year's weather. Prashant Powle was quoted in The Economic Times in June 2026 on exactly this point — unseasonal weather in Konkan directly affects yield and timing.
Ratnagiri won the Gold Medal at the national One District One Product (ODOP) Awards 2024. That's a district-product recognition, not an award to our brand — but it tells you what the government's own graders think of Ratnagiri Alphonso.
How to Order in Three Steps
- Select your grade: Choose Ratnagiri or Devgad Alphonso, then the weight grade — Small (150–180 g), Medium (180–225 g), Extra Large (250–275 g) or Jumbo (275–300 g) — and your box size (half dozen, 1 dozen or 2 dozen).
- Add to cart: Confirm your Navi Mumbai pin code at checkout so the system assigns the right courier — BlueDart, Delhivery, Ekart or XpressBees depending on your area.
- Dispatch: We dispatch within the season (March–June); delivery reaches most Navi Mumbai pin codes in 1–3 days.

People Also Ask
What is the price of 1 kg of Alphonso mangoes in Mumbai?
GI-certified Alphonso mango from Ratnagiri or Devgad is sold by the box, not by the kilogram, because loose retail handling bruises the fruit. A half-dozen box of Medium-grade (180–225 g) Ratnagiri Alphonso from AlphonsoMango.in delivers to Mumbai and Navi Mumbai within 20–24 hours of dispatch.
Check current box prices directly on alphonsomango.in — prices shift through the March-to-June season based on grade and harvest yield.
Which city is famous for Alphonso Mango in India?
Ratnagiri is the city most associated with Alphonso mango in India. Along with Devgad in Sindhudurg district, it holds GI Tag No. 139 — the only regions legally permitted to sell fruit under the Alphonso name. Sea-facing laterite orchards in these two districts produce the 18–24° Brix flavour that defines Hapus.
Mumbai is the main distribution hub, which is why the mango is strongly linked to the city — but the fruit itself comes from Konkan.
Where can I buy an Alphonso mango?
You can buy GI-certified Alphonso mango directly at alphonsomango.in, sourced from 55 villages across Ratnagiri and Sindhudurg districts. Orders to Navi Mumbai — Airoli, Vashi, Belapur, Kharghar, Panvel — typically arrive within 20–24 hours of dispatch via BlueDart, Delhivery, Ekart or XpressBees depending on your pin code.
Buying online from an authorised GI user like Powle Home Foods (AU/5974/GI/139/260) is the most direct way to get fruit that has not sat in a wholesale mandi adding handling days.
Is Alphonso mango grown in Maharashtra?
Yes. Alphonso mango is grown exclusively in the Konkan belt of Maharashtra — specifically Ratnagiri and Sindhudurg districts. GI Tag No. 139 legally restricts the name to fruit from these two districts. The coastal laterite soil, sea breeze and 12-to-25-year-old orchards in villages like Devgad, Pawas and Golap produce the sugar-acid balance that defines Hapus.
No other state can legally label its mango as Alphonso — which is why the GI certificate number on any seller's listing is worth checking before you order.
