Kesar mango deals: what the prices are
We are Powle Home Foods in Mumbai, and we run AlphonsoMango.in. We have sold mangoes since 2019, online since 2020, and have served 47,000+ customers, including offline and marketplace sales. We use the word deal in a plain sense: a fair listed price, shown openly, with no coupon games.

| Pack | Price |
|---|---|
| Half-dozen | Rs 999 |
| 1 dozen | Rs 1,699 |
Both are on the Kesar Mango product page. The listed price is the same in every city; only shipping, shown at checkout, depends on your PIN code. Prices can change, so check the product page for the current price and for availability, which changes through the year.
Kesar or Alphonso: which should you buy
Kesar is a Gujarat mango with an orange pulp, and it costs less than Alphonso. It is said to have been grown in 1931 by the Junagadh Wazir Sale Bhai, and is said to have been known as Kesar since 1934, when the Nawab of Junagadh remarked on its orange pulp. Alphonso is a Konkan fruit named after Afonso de Albuquerque, generally 150 to 300 g, with soft, non-fibrous saffron flesh. Alphonso carries a GI tag, and we make no such claim for Kesar.

- Choose Kesar for everyday eating, for aamras in quantity and for a lower spend.
- Choose Alphonso for the strong aroma, for gifts and for the fruit many families wait for each year. See Ratnagiri Alphonso Mango and Devgad Alphonso Mango, both from Rs 1,849 per dozen.
- Choose both if you cannot decide; the half-dozen Kesar box makes that cheap to try.
Neither is better in every use. Our longer Kesar mango guide and Gir Kesar mango page go into the variety.
Kesar and Alphonso side by side
| Point | Kesar | Alphonso |
|---|---|---|
| Home region | Gujarat | Ratnagiri and Devgad belt, Konkan coast |
| Pulp | Orange | Saffron, soft, non-fibrous |
| Packs we list | Half-dozen, dozen | Dozen, two-dozen and larger packs |
| Starting price | Rs 999 (half-dozen) | Rs 1,849 (dozen) |
| Best use | Everyday eating, aamras in quantity | Gifts, special meals, cut fruit |
The table compares what we list, not a ranking. If your family prefers a milder, less fragrant mango, Kesar may please you more. If you grew up on Hapus, you will probably go for Alphonso. Try the half-dozen Kesar box first if you have never bought it online; it is the smaller commitment, and you can add Alphonso later in the season.
When Kesar is available
Wikipedia describes Gir Kesar as reaching the market around April and May. We do not publish a fixed Kesar supply window of our own; the product page shows whether a pack can be bought. Alphonso, by comparison, is harvested about February to June, with the best supply from March to May, and the 2027 season opens on 1 February 2027. Fresh mangoes are not sold outside their seasons. If the Kesar pack shows as unavailable, the Alphonso pulp tin (850 g and 3.1 kg, from Rs 590) is available all year.
Besides Kesar, we list Pairi mango from Rs 2,799 per dozen, and Dasheri, Totapuri, Salem and Malgova on their own product pages. Each page shows its own pack and price. The whole range is on the mango collection.
How to order Kesar and how delivery works
- Open the Kesar Mango page and choose the half-dozen or the dozen.
- Add to cart, enter your address and PIN code, and check the shipping shown.
- We dispatch by Blue Dart, and about 65% of Indian PIN codes get next-day delivery. Orders received before 1 PM are dispatched the same day. Check your PIN code at checkout.
- Open the box on the day it arrives. If anything is damaged, report it within 24 hours of delivery to support@alphonsomango.in or 8369048029.

We do not promise a delivery day for a named city, because the PIN code and courier route decide it. A perishable box needs someone to receive it, so give an address where a person will be present.
How to use Kesar: aamras, lassi and milkshake
Kesar pulp is orange and works in most recipes that call for mango. The three we reach for are simple:
- Aamras: scoop the pulp, blend briefly with a little milk or nothing at all, and chill. Serve with puri or chapati. See our aamras recipe.
- Lassi: blend ripe pulp with chilled curd and a little cardamom. Our mango lassi recipe gives quantities.
- Milkshake: blend pulp with cold milk and a few ice cubes. See the mango milkshake recipe.
On nutrition, 100 g of raw mango provides about 36 mg of vitamin C, roughly 40% of the Daily Value. That is a generic mango figure, not a Kesar-specific one. Mango also carries natural sugars; if a medical condition affects your sugar intake, ask your doctor or dietitian how much fruit suits you.
Ripening, storage and what to ask any seller
Keep the mangoes at room temperature in a single layer, away from sun, and check them daily. A sweet smell at the stalk and a slight give at the shoulder mean ripe. Do not chill firm fruit; cold stops ripening. Chill ripe fruit briefly if you cannot eat it that day. Surplus pulp freezes well in small portions.
We do not use carbide. Our Alphonso mangoes are ripened naturally on hay beds. Calcium carbide is prohibited for ripening any fruit in India under Regulation 2.3.5 of the Food Safety and Standards (Prohibition and Restrictions on Sales) Regulations, 2011; ethylene up to 100 ppm is the permitted alternative. We are an FSSAI-licensed seller. Whatever mango you buy, ask the seller how it was ripened. No home test proves it; the bucket-of-water test is a rough clue, not proof.
