Mango fruit online shopping in India: the short version
Shopping for mango fruit online is a different habit from picking one at a stall. You cannot smell the fruit before paying, so you depend on the seller's description, on paperwork and on how the fruit is packed. That is not a reason to avoid it. It is a reason to know what to look for. This guide covers the varieties you can order, what to check, how delivery works across India, and how to handle the box when it arrives.

We are Powle Home Foods, based in Kurla West, Mumbai, and we run AlphonsoMango.in. First sales were offline in 2019, and we have sold online since 2020. We have served 47,000+ customers, including offline and marketplace sales. Everything below reflects what we sell and how we do it, and where a point applies to any seller we say so.
Which mango to order
India grows an enormous range of mangoes. According to Wikipedia, India produces roughly 43% of the world's mangoes (the FAO figure also includes mangosteens and guavas), about 26 million tonnes in 2023. Most of them never travel far from where they grow, so online shopping is how a buyer in one city tastes a variety from another. We sell these:
| Product | Starting price | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Ratnagiri Alphonso | from Rs 1,849 per dozen | Alphonso, called Hapus in Maharashtra |
| Devgad Alphonso | from Rs 1,849 per dozen | The same variety, grown in Devgad taluka |
| Gir Kesar | Half dozen Rs 999, dozen Rs 1,699 | The Gujarat mango with orange pulp |
| Pairi | from Rs 2,799 per dozen | A separate variety, also called Payari |
| Alphonso pulp tin | from Rs 590 | 850 g and 3.1 kg tins, sold all year |
We also list pages for Dasheri, Totapuri and Salem. Availability follows each variety's season, so check the product page. A dozen weighs roughly 1.8 to 3.3 kg depending on grade. Check the product page for today's price.

According to Wikipedia, Gir Kesar was said to have been known as Kesar since 1934, when the Nawab of Junagadh remarked on its orange pulp. Our guide to Gir Kesar has more on that variety.
What to check before you order mangoes online
| Check | What to look for |
|---|---|
| Variety | The product name should say Alphonso, Kesar, Dasheri and so on, not a vague "premium mango". |
| Origin | A named place. For Alphonso, ask for GI details, because the GI tag, GI No. 139, covers the Ratnagiri and Devgad belt. |
| Ripening method | A stated method. Calcium carbide is prohibited in India for ripening fruit. |
| Licence | An FSSAI licence number the seller is willing to show. |
| Weight and count | Dozen, weight band and grade, so you compare like with like. |
| Delivery and damage | The courier, how PIN codes are checked, and a clear window for reporting damage. |
Our own answers: we hold GI Authorised User certificate AU/5974/GI/139/260 (GI No. 139). We are an FSSAI-licensed seller. We dispatch by Blue Dart. Damage should be reported within 24 hours of delivery. You can read our details on the Brand Facts page.
How delivery works across India
We dispatch by Blue Dart, and about 65% of Indian PIN codes get next-day delivery. Check your PIN code at checkout, because the page shows what is on offer for your address and we do not name a day for a city in advance. Fruit is sent firm and softens at your home. That is why the box matters: it protects the fruit on the road, and you finish the ripening yourself.

- Give a reachable phone number. The courier calls if the address is hard to find.
- Open the box on arrival. Report damaged fruit within 24 hours of delivery.
- Check city guides. We have pages for Mumbai, Delhi, Bangalore and Hyderabad.
Ripening, hay beds and carbide
We do not use carbide. Our Alphonso mangoes are ripened naturally on hay beds. Selling fruit ripened with calcium carbide is prohibited in India under Regulation 2.3.5 of the Food Safety and Standards (Prohibition and Restrictions on Sales) Regulations, 2011. Ethylene up to 100 ppm is the permitted alternative. No look or smell proves how a mango was ripened, and a bucket-of-water test is only a rough clue, not proof, so ask the seller and read their answer.

Once the box arrives, keep the mangoes at room temperature and away from direct sun. Do not refrigerate unripe fruit. A ripe mango smells sweet near the stalk and gives slightly under the thumb. Our guide on ripening Alphonso at home explains the timing.
Where our Alphonso comes from
We source across 48 villages of the Ratnagiri and Devgad belt on the Konkan coast. Our fruit is hand-harvested with a zela pole fitted with a catching net, and harvest is done at Brahma Muhurta, before dawn. Ratnagiri is a district and Devgad is a taluka in Sindhudurg district, and both grow the same Alphonso variety. The Alphonso season runs about February to June, with the best supply from March to May. The 2027 season opens on 1 February 2027, and fresh mango shows as unavailable until then. Alphonso pulp tins are available all year.
GST, gifts and sending mangoes abroad
There is no GST on fresh mangoes, and the invoice shows it. GST applies on shipping for corporate gifting orders. For gifts within India, see our gifting page or the corporate gifting guide.
International orders are different. We ship directly to the UAE. For other countries, such as the UK, Singapore, Malaysia and Saudi Arabia, shipments have been arranged through the customer's contact abroad. That is not a standard service. Import rules differ by country and change, so check current rules with your importer or customs agent, and write to us first.
