Both products carry GI No. 139. Prashant Powle personally selects sourcing orchards — from villages like Golap and Pawas in Ratnagiri, and Devgad and Jamsande in Sindhudurg — and every batch is tested by Envirocare Labs (NABL-accredited, certificate TC-8284) with all 28 residues within Codex maximum residue limits.

The size grades available are Small (150–180 g), Medium (180–225 g), Extra Large (250–275 g) and Jumbo (275–300 g). If you are sending mangoes as a gift, Extra Large or Jumbo boxes carry better visual impact. For daily eating, Medium grade gives you the best balance of flavour and quantity per box.

Delivery Across India

Fruit leaves our orchards within 48–72 hours of harvest. The route is fixed: roughly 2 hours from tree to the Ratnagiri or Devgad packhouse, post-harvest cooling, then 10–12 hours in air-conditioned transport to the Mumbai packhouse, followed by 24–48 hours of natural hay-bed ripening before dispatch. Mangoes are dispatched at 70–80% ripeness — firm enough for transit, fully ripe within about three days of delivery.

We ship via BlueDart, Delhivery, Ekart or XpressBees depending on your pin code. Orders placed before 12 noon IST (Monday to Saturday) are dispatched the same day. Delivery takes 1 to 3 days for most PIN codes and 1 to 2 days to most metros, depending on your PIN code. Fresh mangoes are delivered by Blue Dart to more than 4,700 PIN codes. Fresh Alphonso is not available July to January — that is an honest constraint of the season, not a logistics gap.

Every mango travels in a 5-ply corrugated fibreboard box with a 12-slot partition, foam-net sleeves and a hay/straw bed. The partition carries transit pressure so the fruit does not. Six air holes on the top and bottom allow airflow that evaporates condensation, which matters because Alphonso lenticels blacken when rubbed or kept damp.

How to Order in Three Steps

  1. Select Grade: Choose Ratnagiri Alphonso (₹1,849 to ₹5,399) or Devgad Alphonso (₹1,849 to ₹5,499) on the product page, then pick your weight grade — Small, Medium, Extra Large or Jumbo — and box size.
  2. Add to Cart: Add your chosen box (half dozen, one dozen or two dozen) to cart. For corporate or HoReCa orders of 5 dozen or more, use the bulk inquiry form on the site.
  3. Dispatch: Once your order is placed, we dispatch via BlueDart, Delhivery, Ekart or XpressBees depending on your pin code. You receive a tracking link by SMS or email.

Where These Mangoes Come From

Order premium Alphonso mangoes online from Ratnagiri and Devgad Konkan

Powle Home Foods sources from 48 coastal villages of Ratnagiri and Devgad. In Ratnagiri taluka: Pawas, Golap, Nachane, Mavalange, Waravade, Purnagad, Gaonkhadi, Ambeshet, Mirya and others. In Devgad taluka: Devgad, Jamsande, Vijaydurg, Dahibav, Hindale, Naringre and surrounding villages. Ratnagiri's ODOP Gold Medal (2024 national awards) is a district-level recognition — it reflects the region, not any single brand.

Partner orchards are typically 12–25 years old, sea-facing, chosen by Prashant Powle on three criteria: Brix consistency across the season, tree longevity, and alternate-bearing management. We work with 100+ farmer families. Cultivation follows strict SOPs from flowering to harvest — which natural sprays and fertilisers are used at each stage is documented, not assumed.

Harvest uses a Nutan/Zela pole fitted with a catching net and cutting mechanism. The tree is never shaken. Fruit never falls. For taller trees, an indigenously developed length-extending pole with a camera is used to locate and cut the stem cleanly. This matters because a bruise at harvest shows up as a dark patch five days later, after you have already paid for the box.

How to Verify Authenticity When You Order Mangoes Online

GI No. 139 covers Alphonso mangoes from Ratnagiri and Sindhudurg districts. Not every mango sold as "Alphonso" or "Hapus" online carries this certification. Powle Home Foods holds GI Authorised User number AU/5974/GI/139/260 (Registry Certificate No. 4163, issued 16 October 2019) for Ratnagiri, and AU/6932 for Devgad. These are verifiable at the IP India GI Registry.

Beyond the certificate, look for independent lab testing. Our fruit is tested weekly through the season by Envirocare Labs Pvt. Ltd., Thane (NABL-accredited, TC-8284). The April 2025 report (01/ETHAP2500044, issued 5 April 2025) checked 28 residues — 27 were below the limit of quantification (0.01 mg/kg); one (thiamethoxam, 0.013 mg/kg) was within the Codex limit of 0.2 mg/kg. We say independently tested, all residues within Codex limits. We do not say pesticide-free.

We also hold FSSAI licence 10020022011783 and APEDA registration 225579, which cover food safety standards and export eligibility respectively. These are not decorative — APEDA registration is mandatory for export to the US, UK, UAE, Singapore and Japan, all markets we supply.

What does the GI Tag actually guarantee?

The GI Tag confirms the mango was grown in the designated Konkan geography and meets the quality standards of that region. It does not guarantee any individual seller's practices. The authorised user number is the document that ties a specific business to that certification — ask for it before you buy from any seller claiming GI Alphonso.

Ripening and Storage After Your Mangoes Arrive

We ripen on hay — traditional Aadi ripening in temperature-controlled rooms, no ethylene chambers, no calcium carbide, no artificial ripening agents. The 24–48 hours at the Mumbai packhouse is monitored, not gas-triggered. This is not a marketing claim; it is verifiable by the absence of carbide residue and the distinct flavour development pattern that carbide-ripened fruit cannot replicate.

Your mangoes arrive at 70–80% ripeness. Leave them at room temperature for two to three days. Do not refrigerate unripe mangoes — cold storage stalls ripening and can cause the skin to discolour. Once ripe (yield slightly to thumb pressure, fragrant at the stem), refrigerate and consume within two to three days.

If fruit arrives transit-damaged or fails quality expectations, report within 24 hours of delivery with photos or video on WhatsApp. No physical return is required. We dispatch a fresh replacement or credit your account for the next purchase.

Nutrition: What 100 g of Alphonso Gives You

Ripe Alphonso pulp contains roughly 30–36 mg of vitamin C per 100 g. That is about 40–45% of the ICMR-NIN 2020 recommended daily allowance for adult men (80 mg/day) and around 50% for adult women (65 mg/day). Mangiferin, a polyphenol present in Alphonso pulp, showed anti-inflammatory activity in a cell study by Govindappa et al. (2011) — a cell study, not a clinical trial, so keep that in proportion.

Alphonso puree is suitable for babies from about 6 months as a first fruit — this is a serving suggestion, not medical advice. Confirm with your paediatrician if you have specific concerns.

Season and Availability: When to Order Mangoes

The Alphonso season runs February to June, with peak quality and volume from March to May. Outside this window, no fresh Alphonso is available from us. July to January, the product pages will show out of stock — that is accurate, not a glitch. The 2027 mango season starts on 1 February 2027, and fresh mangoes are out of stock until then.

The 2025 season was affected by unusual weather, as Prashant Powle described to the Economic Times in June 2026: "Famous Alphonso mango is facing existential crisis this year" (read the full article). Weather-driven yield variation is real, and it affects price bands season to season. The current price range on the product pages reflects grade and box size, not a promotional variable.

If you are buying mangoes as a corporate gift, plan orders for April — that is when availability is steadiest and lead time for multi-destination dispatch (we shipped to delegates across India for Messe Muenchen India in May 2026) is easiest to manage.

People Also Ask

Is it spelled mangoes or mangos?

Both spellings are correct. Mangoes is the standard plural in Indian and British English. Mangos is accepted in American English. If you are writing for an Indian audience — or ordering from an Indian season that runs February to June — mangoes is the form you will see on most labels, menus and government documents, including GI Registry filings.

What are the benefits of eating mangoes?

Ripe Alphonso pulp contains roughly 30–36 mg of vitamin C per 100 g, meeting about 40–45% of the ICMR-NIN 2020 daily requirement for men and about 50% for women. Mangoes also supply beta-carotene, folate, dietary fibre and mangiferin, a polyphenol studied for anti-inflammatory activity by Govindappa et al. in 2011.

Which is healthier, papaya or mango?

Neither fruit is categorically healthier — they offer different nutrient strengths. Papaya is higher in vitamin C per 100 g and contains the digestive enzyme papain. Mango delivers more beta-carotene, folate and mangiferin. If your goal is vitamin A precursors or natural sugars from a low-glycaemic-index diet, ripe Alphonso mango at 18–24° Brix is the denser choice.

Is it okay to eat mangoes every day?

For most healthy adults, one to two servings of mango a day during the February–June season is reasonable. A 100 g serving of Alphonso pulp gives roughly 30–36 mg of vitamin C and useful beta-carotene without excessive sugar load, provided the rest of your diet is balanced. People managing diabetes should check serving size with their doctor.
