To buy mango online in India, pick a seller who names the variety and the place, states how the fruit is ripened and delivers to your PIN code. AlphonsoMango.in sends fresh Ratnagiri and Devgad Alphonso across India by Blue Dart.
Buying mango online across India
India is a big country for a short-lived fruit. A box that leaves the Konkan coast has to reach a flat in Delhi, an office in Chennai or a home in Kolkata while it is still in good shape. Ordering online makes that possible, but only if you check the seller, the PIN code and the season before you pay.

We are Powle Home Foods, based in Mumbai, and we run AlphonsoMango.in. We have sold online since 2020, and we have served 47,000+ customers, including offline and marketplace sales. This page is a practical guide for anyone searching for mango online in India: how delivery works, what the season allows, how to tell a genuine Alphonso from guesswork, and how to place an order.
How delivery works across India
We dispatch by Blue Dart, and about 65% of Indian PIN codes get next-day delivery. Check your PIN code at checkout. We never promise next-day delivery for a named city, because coverage depends on the PIN code and not on the city name. Enter the PIN code at checkout before you pay, and the site will tell you whether we can deliver.
- Big cities: our city pages cover Delhi, Bangalore and Mumbai in more detail.
- Smaller towns: the PIN code check is the only reliable answer, so use it.
- Receiving the box: give a phone number that someone will answer, and open the box on the day it arrives.
- Problems: report damage within 24 hours of delivery.
Our shipping policy has the general terms. International orders are different: we ship directly to the UAE, and other countries are arranged only through your contact abroad, so write to us first.
Mango season in India
Alphonso is harvested about February to June, and the best supply is March to May. The 2027 season opens on 1 February 2027. Other varieties follow their own calendars, and harvests in the south and west generally begin earlier than in the north. Fresh Alphonso is not sold outside the season, so the product pages show as unavailable until it opens. Alphonso pulp tins, from Rs 590, are sold all year.
| Period | What to expect |
|---|---|
| February to March | First fruit of the season; quantities build. |
| March to May | Best supply and the widest choice of grade. |
| June | The tail of the season as stocks wind down. |
| July to January | No fresh Alphonso from us; pulp tins available. |
Our season guide covers the months in more detail.
Origin: the Ratnagiri and Devgad belt

Alphonso, called Hapus in Marathi, is a variety from the Konkan coast of Maharashtra. Ratnagiri is a district, and Devgad is a taluka in Sindhudurg district. Both grow the same variety, and we do not rank one above the other. We source across 48 villages of that belt, and our fruit is hand-harvested with a zela pole fitted with a catching net.

Alphonso from the belt carries a GI tag, GI No. 139, and we hold GI Authorised User certificate AU/5974/GI/139/260 (GI No. 139). Our guide to the GI tag explains what it means. Fresh Alphonso is sold from Rs 1,849 per dozen, and a dozen weighs roughly 1.8 to 3.3 kg depending on grade. Check the product page for today's price. Our Ratnagiri Alphonso and Devgad Alphonso pages list the options.
How to judge a genuine Alphonso listing
No single look, smell or home test proves a mango is genuine Alphonso or that it was ripened a certain way. A bucket-of-water test is only a rough clue, not proof. What helps is a short set of questions that any honest seller can answer.
- Is the variety named, and is the origin a place and not just "Konkan quality"?
- Does the seller show GI paperwork for Alphonso, and a food licence? Ours is FSSAI licence 10020022011783.
- Is the grade and count stated, with the weight of the dozen?
- Does the seller say plainly how the fruit is ripened?

The ripening question deserves a closer look, because rushed ripening is the shortcut buyers worry about most.
Hay-ripened vs carbide-ripened mangoes: what differs
| Point | Naturally ripened on hay beds | Ripened with calcium carbide |
|---|---|---|
| Ripening medium | Mature fruit is laid on hay beds and ripens by itself over several days. | Calcium carbide produces acetylene gas, which is used to force ripening. |
| Legality in India | Allowed. | Prohibited. Regulation 2.3.5 of the Food Safety and Standards (Prohibition and Restrictions on Sales) Regulations, 2011 bars selling fruit ripened with acetylene (carbide) gas. |
| Skin colour (rough clue, not proof) | Often uneven: green, gold and a blush can sit together on one fruit. | Colour alone cannot show how a fruit was ripened; an even bright yellow skin is only a rough clue. |
| Aroma (rough clue, not proof) | A sweet fruity smell, strongest near the stalk, builds as the fruit ripens. | Aroma can be weak when ripening is forced; this is a rough clue only. |
| Taste and health note | Sweet with a little acidity, soft flesh. | The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (PIB, 18 May 2024) lists dizziness, irritation, difficulty in swallowing and vomiting among effects linked to carbide residues. |
No home test, including the water or bucket test, proves how a mango was ripened. Ask any seller how the fruit was ripened.
We do not use carbide. Our Alphonso mangoes are ripened naturally on hay beds. Our guide to identifying carbide-ripened mangoes and the Alphonso identification guide go further.
