Best Website to Buy Alphonso Mangoes Online - AlphonsoMango.in

The best website to buy Alphonso mangoes online names its sourcing belt, shows a verifiable GI credential, states how the fruit is ripened, and prices by the dozen. AlphonsoMango.in meets each test: Ratnagiri and Devgad Alphonso from Rs 1,849 per dozen, sent by Blue Dart.

Seven checks before you pay any Alphonso website

I run AlphonsoMango.in with Powle Home Foods in Mumbai, so I am not neutral. What I can do is give you the checklist I would use if I were buying from somebody else. Alphonso is the most copied name in Indian fruit, and a website can look polished while saying very little. Seven checks separate the specific from the vague.

What to check on an Alphonso website, and where to verify it
Check What a good answer looks like How to verify
Origin Ratnagiri or Devgad named on the product page, not just "Konkan" or "Maharashtra" Read the product title and description
GI credential A certificate number, not only the words "GI tagged" Alphonso is registered as GI No. 139; the public GI Registry lists it
Ripening method A plain statement: hay beds, ethylene or something else Ask by email; carbide is prohibited under FSSAI Regulation 2.3.5
Price format Per dozen with the grade or size shown Compare dozens of the same grade only
Season honesty Says when fruit is not available Be wary of fresh Alphonso offered in October
Delivery A named courier and a PIN code check Enter your PIN code before paying
A human to ask Email and phone that answer, and a stated damage-reporting window Write one question before ordering

No single check proves anything on its own. Together they tell you whether a seller has thought about the product or only about the sale.

What AlphonsoMango.in sells

We have sold mangoes since 2019 offline and online since 2020, and have served 47,000+ customers, including offline and marketplace sales. Our fruit comes from 55 villages of the Ratnagiri and Devgad belt on the Konkan coast. The range is deliberately short:

Prices move with grade and size, so check the product page for today's price. Everything sits together on the mango collection.

Ratnagiri and Devgad: two names, one variety

Ratnagiri is a district on the Konkan coast; Devgad is a taluka in neighbouring Sindhudurg district. Both grow Alphonso, the same variety, and both fall under the same GI. We sell both and do not rank one above the other. If a website tells you one name is always superior, ask it for the evidence.

What changes between orders is grade and availability, not the variety. Our Ratnagiri and Devgad Hapus guide explains both names without picking a winner. The Wikipedia pages on Devgad taluka and the Konkan give neutral background.

Reading price and weight honestly

Alphonso is sold by the dozen, and a dozen is not a fixed weight. Ours weighs roughly 1.8 to 3.3 kg depending on grade. Individual fruits generally weigh 150 to 300 g, so a dozen of small fruit and a dozen of large fruit are different purchases at different prices. That is why the price range on our pages runs from Rs 1,849 to Rs 5,399 or more.

  • Compare dozens of the same grade across sellers, not headline prices.
  • Be careful with any site that shows a very low price and no grade.
  • Check what the price includes; shipping appears at checkout, and our shipping charges guide explains it.

Season, delivery and damage

Alphonso is harvested about February to June, with the best supply from March to May. The 2027 season opens on 1 February 2027. Outside the season fresh Alphonso is not sold; the pulp tin is available all year. We dispatch by Blue Dart, and about 65% of Indian PIN codes get next-day delivery. Orders received before 1 PM are dispatched the same day. Check your PIN code at checkout. We do not promise a day for any named city.

Open the box on the day it arrives. If anything is damaged, report it within 24 hours of delivery to support@alphonsomango.in or 8369048029. Harvest to ripening takes about 15 days, so some fruit may be firm on arrival; our delivery period guide covers timing in detail.

How to tell a genuine Alphonso seller

We do not use carbide. Our Alphonso mangoes are ripened naturally on hay beds. Calcium carbide is prohibited for ripening fruit in India under Regulation 2.3.5 of the Food Safety and Standards (Prohibition and Restrictions on Sales) Regulations, 2011. We are an FSSAI-licensed seller, and we hold GI Authorised User certificate AU/5974/GI/139/260 (GI No. 139). Our fruit is hand-harvested with a zela pole fitted with a catching net.

No home test proves authenticity. The bucket-of-water test is a rough clue, not proof, and the smell, colour and shape vary with grade. Use the seller's answers instead. Ask four questions: which belt, which certificate number, how it was ripened, and who to write to if the box is wrong. Our how to identify Alphonso mango guide goes further, and the GI tag article explains the credential.

After delivery: storage and the pulp option

Lay the mangoes in a single layer at room temperature, away from sun, and check them each day. A sweet smell at the stalk and a slight give at the shoulder mean ripe. Do not refrigerate firm fruit; cold stops ripening. Once soft, eat the fruit that day or chill it briefly. Our ripening guide has the method.

If the box ripens all at once, scoop the flesh and freeze it in small portions, which is what the pulp tin does at scale. Raw mango provides about 36 mg of vitamin C per 100 g, roughly 40% of the Daily Value; that is a generic mango figure, not an Alphonso-specific one. See mango nutrition facts for the table.

People also ask

Which is the original Alphonso mango?

The original Alphonso is the variety named after Afonso de Albuquerque, grown for generations on the Konkan coast of Maharashtra. Fruit from the Ratnagiri and Devgad belt is registered in India as GI No. 139. A seller should be able to name the belt and show a certificate number, not only say "original".

What country is Alphonso mango from?

Alphonso is an Indian mango, grown mainly in Maharashtra on the Konkan coast, in Ratnagiri, Sindhudurg and nearby areas, and also in Karnataka and Gujarat. The name honours Afonso de Albuquerque, and mango grafting was introduced in Portuguese Goa by Jesuit missionaries. The fruit we sell comes from the Ratnagiri and Devgad belt.

How do I know if an online seller's Alphonso is genuine?

Ask four things: the sourcing belt, the GI certificate number, how the fruit is ripened, and how to reach a person if the box is wrong. A seller that answers specifically is more trustworthy than one that repeats "authentic". No home test proves origin; the water test is a rough clue only.

When is the Alphonso mango season?

Alphonso is harvested about February to June, with the best supply from March to May. Our 2027 season opens on 1 February 2027. Fresh Alphonso is not sold outside the season, so be cautious of any website offering it in October. Alphonso pulp tins are available all year if you want the flavour out of season.
