What we deliver to Aurangabad
We are Powle Home Foods, the family business behind AlphonsoMango.in. For Aurangabad (now officially Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar) we deliver the same boxes we send anywhere in India: Devgad Alphonso and Ratnagiri Alphonso by the dozen, Kesar mango by the box, and Pairi by the dozen. We also list Dasheri, Totapuri, Salem and Malgova pages.

Alphonso is our main fruit. It comes from 48 villages of the Ratnagiri and Devgad belt on the Konkan coast, and Alphonso from that belt is GI-tagged in India (GI No. 139). For Alphonso we hold GI Authorised User certificate AU/5974/GI/139/260 (GI No. 139); the details are on our Brand Facts page. Kesar is a Gujarat mango and carries no GI claim from us.

Every fresh mango we sell is hand-harvested with a zela pole fitted with a catching net, so the fruit is lifted from the tree rather than shaken down. That is the first step in a box reaching Aurangabad without bruises. The second is the ripening method, covered below. We also supply restaurants and hotels in general terms; if you run a kitchen in the city, write to us with your quantity and dates and we will answer for your case.
Alphonso or Kesar for an Aurangabad order
Aurangabad buyers often know Kesar well, because Kesar is also grown across the Marathwada region. Alphonso is the Konkan fruit, and most people order it when they want the fruit they cannot pick up at the corner stall. The table lists what differs on our pages; it does not rank one above the other.
| Point | Alphonso (Hapus) | Kesar |
|---|---|---|
| Where it grows | Ratnagiri and Devgad belt, Konkan coast | Gujarat |
| Sold as | Dozen, from Rs 1,849 | Half dozen Rs 999, dozen Rs 1,699 |
| Pulp | Rich, creamy and non-fibrous | Orange pulp, the reason for the name "Kesar" (saffron) |
| Ripening | Naturally on hay beds, no carbide | Naturally, no carbide |
| Typical use | Eating fresh, aamras, gifting | Eating fresh, shakes, larger family boxes |

Kesar is said to have been grown in 1931 by the Junagadh Wazir Sale Bhai, and is said to have been known as Kesar since 1934, when the Nawab of Junagadh remarked on its orange pulp. Prices are the listed figures on the day we wrote this; check the product page for today's price.
How delivery to Aurangabad works
We dispatch by Blue Dart, and about 65% of Indian PIN codes get next-day delivery. Check your PIN code at checkout. We do not promise a delivery day for Aurangabad or any other named city, because the courier route decides it. The checkout shows the delivery message for your PIN code before you pay, and that message is the one to trust.
- Enter the full address and a working phone number so the Blue Dart rider can call. A landmark helps in the older parts of the city.
- Ask someone to be home. A box of ripening fruit should not sit at a gate or a security desk through an Aurangabad afternoon.
- Open the box on the day it arrives and spread the fruit out. Damage should be reported within 24 hours of delivery, by writing to support@alphonsomango.in or calling 8369048029.
- Fresh mango is sold only in season. Outside it, Alphonso mango pulp tins (850 g and 3.1 kg, from Rs 590) are available all year.
Our note on delivery periods explains what the PIN code check means in more detail.
How the fruit is ripened before it reaches you

We do not use carbide. Our Alphonso mangoes are ripened naturally on hay beds. Hay-bed ripening is the traditional Konkan method: mature fruit is laid on hay and allowed to ripen by itself over several days. Selling fruit ripened with calcium carbide (acetylene) gas is prohibited under Regulation 2.3.5 of the Food Safety and Standards (Prohibition and Restrictions on Sales) Regulations, 2011.
No home test proves how a mango was ripened. The water or bucket test is a rough clue, not proof. The honest step is to ask any seller, in Aurangabad or online, how their fruit was ripened and where it grew. Our guide to identifying carbide-ripened mangoes lists the questions.
Fruit arrives firm rather than fully soft, so it survives the journey. Keep it at room temperature, away from direct sun, and do not refrigerate it until it gives slightly near the stalk and smells sweet. Our guide to ripening mangoes at home covers the steps.
Season and what to order when
Alphonso is harvested about February to June, with the best supply from March to May. The 2027 season opens on 1 February 2027. Fresh Alphonso is not sold outside the season, and we do not fill the gap with stored fruit. Kesar and Pairi follow their own windows inside the same summer, and each product page shows what is open for ordering.
A dozen Alphonso weighs roughly 1.8 to 3.3 kg depending on grade. Larger fruit costs more per dozen; the largest Ratnagiri option goes up to Rs 5,399. For a first order, one dozen of a mid-size grade is a sensible start. Gifting to a family in Aurangabad from another city works the same way: enter their address at checkout, not yours.
Alphonso fruits generally weigh 150 to 300 g each, and harvest to ripening takes about 15 days, which is why a box can hold fruit at slightly different stages. Eat the softest first.
If you are ordering for a festival, a wedding house or an office in Aurangabad, order a week ahead inside the season rather than on the day. Write to us with the quantity, address and date, and we will say what we can supply.
