Every fruit is weighed and graded before packing. Grades run from Small (150–180 g) through Medium (180–225 g), Extra Large (250–275 g) and Jumbo (275–300 g). An AI/ML-assisted scanner checks each mango for spongy tissue and surface deformities before it goes into the box. You get what you paid for — not a bin of mixed sizes.

Mango Delivery to Pune

Mango delivery Pune — Hapus Alphonso packed in foam-net sleeves in corrugated box

Orders placed before 12 noon IST (Monday to Saturday) are dispatched the same day. Delivery takes 1 to 3 days for most PIN codes and 1 to 2 days to most metros, depending on your PIN code. Fresh mangoes are delivered by Blue Dart to more than 4,700 PIN codes.

Fruit leaves the packhouse at 70–80% ripeness, firm enough for transit. It completes ripening within about three days of delivery. If you open the box and find damaged or quality-failed fruit, photograph or video it and send it on WhatsApp within 24 hours of delivery. No physical return is needed. We dispatch a fresh replacement or credit your account for the next order — whichever you prefer.

The box itself is a 5-ply corrugated fibreboard (CFB) carton, 130 gsm, with a 12-slot partition designed to carry transit pressure so the fruit does not. Every mango sits in a foam-net sleeve (flat width 50–55 mm) that prevents skin friction scars — Alphonso lenticels blacken when rubbed — and stops stem punctures from neighbouring fruit. Six air holes top and bottom keep the hay bed breathing.

Where Our Mangoes Come From

Hand harvesting Alphonso Hapus mango in Ratnagiri using Nutan pole with catching net

We source from 48 villages across Ratnagiri district (Ratnagiri taluka villages including Pawas, Golap, Nachane and Mirya; Rajapur and Lanja taluka villages including Jaitapur, Velas and Anjarle) and Sindhudurg district (Devgad taluka villages including Devgad, Dahibav, Kunkeshwar, Jamsande and Vijaydurg; Malvan and Vengurla talukas including Achara, Tondavali and Shiroda).

Our 100+ partner farmer families maintain orchards typically 12–25 years old, selected by Prashant Powle for Brix consistency, tree longevity and alternate-bearing management. Each orchard follows strict cultivation SOPs from flowering to harvest — covering which natural sprays and fertilisers are applied and when.

Fruit is never shaken from the tree. Harvesters use a Nutan/Zela pole with a catching net and cutting mechanism. For tall trees, we use an indigenously developed length-extending pole fitted with a camera. From tree to the Ratnagiri or Devgad packhouse takes about two hours. From there it travels in air-conditioned vehicles to the Mumbai packhouse — a 10–12 hour run. Total time from harvest to dispatch: 48–72 hours.

Lab Testing

Every season, fruit is tested weekly by Envirocare Labs Pvt. Ltd., Thane (NABL accredited, certificate TC-8284). The April 2025 report (01/ETHAP2500044, issued 5 April 2025) tested 28 pesticide residues. All 28 were within Codex maximum residue limits. Twenty-seven of 28 were below the limit of quantification (0.01 mg/kg). One residue — thiamethoxam — was detected at 0.013 mg/kg against a Codex limit of 0.20 mg/kg. We say independently tested and within limits, not "pesticide-free."

How We Ripen the Fruit

Alphonso you buy in many markets is ripened with calcium carbide — a shortcut that degrades flavour and raises health concerns. We do not use it. We do not use ethylene chambers either.

At our Mumbai packhouse, fruit rests on a hay bed (Aadi method) in temperature-controlled rooms for 24–48 hours. This is natural ripening, monitored by hand, not gas-triggered. The fruit is dispatched at 70–80% ripeness. It ripens fully in your home within about three days of delivery — which is why a box arriving slightly firm is not a problem.

Fruit is also put through a controlled hot-water treatment after harvest to reduce surface issues and extend shelf life, followed by post-harvest cooling before transport. These steps matter more than most buyers realise: skipping them is one reason market Hapus bruises fast.

Mango Season in Pune

The Alphonso season runs February to June, with peak supply in March, April and May. Devgad fruit tends to peak slightly later than Ratnagiri, often running strong into late May and early June. Outside this window — July through January — we do not sell fresh Alphonso, full stop. Any site claiming to sell "fresh Hapus" in August is not selling Hapus.

Is it worth ordering early-season or late-season?

Early-season fruit (February–March) is smaller and the Brix can sit at the lower end of the 18–24° range. By April the orchards at Pawas, Golap and Dahibav are producing the fruit most people picture when they think of Hapus — deep saffron, 20–22° Brix, 180–225 g. Late-season June fruit from Devgad is often the sweetest of the year, but supply is limited. The 2027 mango season starts on 1 February 2027, and fresh mangoes are out of stock until then.

Nutrition

Ripe Alphonso pulp contains roughly 30–36 mg vitamin C per 100 g. A 100 g serving meets about 40–45% of the ICMR-NIN 2020 RDA for adult men (80 mg/day) and about 50% for adult women (65 mg/day). Alphonso also contains mangiferin, a xanthonoid studied by Govindappa et al. (2011) for anti-inflammatory activity in cell studies. Eat the fruit; the research on isolated compounds is still early.

People Also Ask

Where can I find a mango shop in Pune?

Fresh GI-certified Alphonso mangoes from AlphonsoMango.in are out of stock until 1 February 2027; no shop visit is needed once the season starts. Physical mango markets like Pune's Shivajinagar and Mandai sell Hapus during the season, February to June, but quality and origin traceability vary widely from stall to stall.

Ordering direct from a GI-authorised source means every fruit is graded, lab-tested and hay-bed ripened before it reaches your door.

Is mango mastani famous in Pune?

Yes, mango mastani is one of Pune's most recognised drinks — a thick mango milkshake topped with ice cream and dry fruits, closely linked to the city's café culture. It is made during the Alphonso season, roughly March to June, when Hapus pulp is sweetest. The drink's richness depends entirely on the quality of the mango used.

Ripe Ratnagiri or Devgad Alphonso pulp, with Brix between 18 and 24°, gives a mastani its signature depth — thin, watery mango base will not do the same job.

Which is better, Alphonso or Kesar?

Alphonso from Ratnagiri or Devgad is widely regarded as India's finest eating mango — fibre-free, intensely aromatic, Brix of 18–24°, with a balance of sweetness and acidity that Kesar does not quite match. Kesar from Junagadh is excellent in its own right: fuller-bodied, more uniformly sweet, and better suited to large-volume cooking and aamras.

If you are eating the fruit fresh or gifting it, Alphonso wins. If you need bulk pulp for a function, Kesar makes practical sense.

Where are the best mango places in Maharashtra?

Ratnagiri and Devgad in Konkan are widely accepted as the two finest mango-producing areas in Maharashtra — and by most measures in India. Both carry GI Tag No. 139. Sea-facing laterite soil, coastal humidity and temperature swings across the Western Ghats footprint produce Alphonso flavour that cannot be replicated further inland.

Within Ratnagiri, villages like Pawas, Golap and Nachane are known for consistent quality; within Devgad taluka, Dahibav, Kunkeshwar and Jamsande orchards produce fruit that typically hits the upper end of the 18–24° Brix range.
