Mango Delivery to Surat
We dispatch fruit at 70–80% ripeness — firm enough to survive the journey, fully ripe within about three days of delivery. Orders placed before 12 noon IST (Monday to Saturday) are dispatched the same day. Delivery takes 1 to 3 days for most PIN codes and 1 to 2 days to most metros, depending on your PIN code. Fresh mangoes are delivered by Blue Dart to more than 4,700 PIN codes.
From harvest in Devgad or Ratnagiri to your door: about two hours from tree to packhouse, post-harvest cooling, 10–12 hours by air-conditioned vehicle to our Mumbai packhouse, 24–48 hours of natural hay-bed ripening there, then courier dispatch. Total harvest-to-dispatch time is 48–72 hours.
Each box is a 5-ply corrugated fibreboard courier-grade carton (130 gsm, alternate flute, reinforced corners). Every mango sits in a foam-net sleeve to prevent skin friction — Alphonso lenticels blacken when rubbed, so this is not decorative. A 12-slot partition takes the transit pressure instead of the fruit.
If fruit arrives transit-damaged or fails quality, report it within 24 hours of delivery with photos or video on WhatsApp. We dispatch a fresh replacement or credit your account. No physical return required.
We do not deliver fresh Alphonso or Kesar mangoes from July to January. The fruit is not available in that window — the orchards in Devgad and Ratnagiri are resting. That is an honest limit, and it matters if you are planning a gift or event order outside the season.
How to Order
- Step 1 — Select variety and grade. Choose Devgad Alphonso (₹1,849 to ₹5,499) or Gir Kesar (₹999 to ₹1,699) from the product pages linked above. Grades range from Small (150–180 g) through Medium (180–225 g), Extra Large (250–275 g) and Jumbo (275–300 g) — pick the size that matches your use.
- Step 2 — Add to cart. Box options are half dozen, one dozen and two dozen. Corporate or HoReCa orders from five dozen upward can be placed directly.
- Step 3 — We dispatch. After your order is confirmed: Orders placed before 12 noon IST (Monday to Saturday) are dispatched the same day. Delivery takes 1 to 3 days for most PIN codes and 1 to 2 days to most metros, depending on your PIN code. Fresh mangoes are delivered by Blue Dart to more than 4,700 PIN codes.
Where These Mangoes Come From
Powle Home Foods sources from 48 coastal villages of Ratnagiri and Devgad. In Devgad taluka alone: Devgad, Jamsande, Vijaydurg, Dahibav, Hindale, Naringre, Kanyabag, Padel, Girye, Rameshwar, Waghotan, Kunkeshwar, Mithbav, Katwan, Aare, Shirgaon, Tambaldeg, Ilye, Munge, Khavane, Tiravade, Koregaon, Baparde and Mandivali. These are sea-facing orchards, typically 12–25 years old, selected by Prashant Powle for Brix consistency and alternate-bearing management.
Fruit is harvested by hand using a Nutan or Zela pole fitted with a catching net. The tree is never shaken. Fruit never falls. For tall trees, an indigenously developed length-extending pole with a camera is used. This matters because bruising at harvest — even a single impact — accelerates spongy tissue development inside the fruit, which no amount of careful packing can undo.
What is the GI Tag for Alphonso Mango?
Both Ratnagiri and Devgad Alphonso carry GI Tag No. 139. Powle Home Foods holds GI Authorised User credential AU/5974/GI/139/260, issued by GI Registry Certificate No. 4163 on 16 October 2019. Gir Kesar carries GI Tag No. 185, covering Junagadh and Gir regions.
Which Devgad villages produce the best Alphonso?
Sea-proximity is the key variable. Villages like Girye, Vijaydurg and Kunkeshwar sit close to the Arabian Sea coast. The salt-laden breeze and laterite soil combination in these locations consistently pushes Brix toward the upper end of the 18–24° range. We run grading tables every season — and the data from those tables, not assumptions, determine which orchards we renew contracts with.
How We Ripen the Fruit
Natural hay-bed ripening only — called Aadi ripening in the Konkan. Fruit rests on hay in temperature-controlled rooms at the Mumbai packhouse for 24–48 hours. No ethylene chambers, no calcium carbide, no artificial ripening agents of any kind.
We assumed early on that customers mainly cared about taste. What we found is that the ripening method also affects shelf life and the absence of chemical odour. Hay-ripened Alphonso smells of the fruit, nothing else. That's a first-hand observation from handling thousands of boxes across five seasons.
Every fruit is weighed, graded, and scanned by an AI/ML-assisted machine that checks for internal spongy tissue and external deformities before packing. A fruit that passes this check and the hay-bed phase is dispatched at 70–80% ripeness — firm on the outside, with the chemistry already running toward full sweetness.
Nutrition — What You Actually Get
Ripe Alphonso pulp contains roughly 30–36 mg of vitamin C per 100 g. A 100 g serving meets about 40–45% of the ICMR-NIN 2020 recommended daily intake for adult men (80 mg/day) and about 50% for adult women (65 mg/day).
Mangiferin, a xanthonoid found in mango pulp, showed anti-inflammatory activity in a cell study by Govindappa et al. (2011). That's a cell-study result — not a clinical claim — but it explains why mangiferin research has continued. The bigger practical point for most buyers is that Alphonso has no fibre, no aftertaste, and a Brix of 18–24° at full ripeness — it eats like dessert without being artificially sweetened.
Alphonso puree is suitable for babies from about six months as a first fruit. Keep this as a serving idea, not a medical recommendation — check with your paediatrician for your child's specific needs.
Season and Availability for Surat Orders
The Alphonso season runs February to June, with peak availability March through May. Kesar runs a similar window. Outside this range — July to January — no fresh mangoes are dispatched. The 2027 mango season starts on 1 February 2027, and fresh mangoes are out of stock until then.
The 2026 season was unusual. Prashant Powle spoke to The Economic Times in June 2026 about the impact of unseasonal rain and heat spikes on Alphonso yield across Ratnagiri — a season the paper described as an "existential crisis" for the variety. Yields were lower than normal. That context is relevant if you are comparing this season's pricing to previous years.
Ratnagiri Alphonso won the Gold Medal at the national One District One Product (ODOP) Awards 2024. That's a district-product recognition, not an award to AlphonsoMango.in specifically — but it reflects the standing of the region we source from.
We do not sell fresh Alphonso from July to January. If you see someone selling "fresh Alphonso" in August, ask where it came from — the Konkan trees do not produce in that window.

People Also Ask
Can I order mango from India to the USA?
Fresh Alphonso mangoes cannot be shipped from India to the USA as individual consumer orders — USDA phytosanitary rules require irradiation treatment, and that process is currently available only through registered commercial export channels. AlphonsoMango.in exports to the US through those channels, but does not ship fresh fruit direct to US home addresses.
If you have family in Surat or elsewhere in India during the February–June season, ordering to an Indian address is straightforward.
What is the rate of 1 kg of mango?
Gir Kesar mangoes from AlphonsoMango.in start at ₹999 for half a dozen, which works out to roughly ₹400–₹550 per kg depending on fruit size. GI-tagged Devgad Alphonso starts at ₹1,849 for half a dozen — a premium grade, so the per-kg rate is higher than commodity market fruit.
Both varieties are priced by box and grade, not by the kilogram, because Alphonso quality varies more by fruit size and Brix consistency than by weight alone.
What is the current price of mango in Surat?
For online delivery to Surat, GI-tagged Devgad Alphonso from AlphonsoMango.in is priced from ₹1,849 to ₹5,499 depending on grade and box size; Gir Kesar — a variety Surat households already know well, sourced from Junagadh and Gir — runs from ₹999 to ₹1,699.
