Why we do not quote a 1 kg Alphonso mango price
A lot of people search for "1 kg Alphonso mango price". We understand why: that is how most fruit is sold. We still do not quote one, for a plain reason. A kilo of the smallest grade holds six or seven mangoes; a kilo of the largest grade holds three or four. The fruit, the eating and the price per piece are different, so one per-kg number hides more than it shows.

Grading by weight band and pricing by the dozen tells you exactly what is in the box, which a per-kg figure for mixed fruit never can. We do not publish per-kg figures, and we would treat any seller's single "per kg" Alphonso rate as a starting question rather than an answer: which grade, which belt, how ripened?
What moves the Alphonso mango price
- Grade. The biggest factor. Larger fruit takes longer to grow and fewer fit in a crate, so each dozen costs more.
- Point in the season. Alphonso is harvested about February to June, with the best supply from March to May. Early boxes are scarce; the full range of grades is usually listed from March.
- Origin and paperwork. Alphonso from the Ratnagiri and Devgad belt carries GI No. 139. We hold GI Authorised User certificate AU/5974/GI/139/260 (GI No. 139). Fruit sold under the name without the belt behind it has no reason to be priced the same.
- Ripening method. Natural ripening on hay beds takes days; forced ripening takes hours. Patience costs money, and it is the part of the price we will not cut.
- Packing and delivery. Each dozen is packed for courier transit and shipped by Blue Dart; the shipping charge appears separately at checkout.

The harvest itself is done by hand, pre-dawn, with a pole and net so the fruit is not dropped. From the orchard to a ripe mango on your table takes about two weeks. None of this shows in a per-kg quote, which is another reason we stopped using one.
How to compare Alphonso prices between sellers
Put the quotes on the same footing before you compare them. Ask each seller these questions and write the answers next to the price:
- Is the price per dozen of one grade, or per kg or per peti of mixed fruit?
- Which belt does the fruit come from, and do they hold a GI Authorised User certificate? Ours is published on the Brand Facts page.
- How was the fruit ripened, and are they FSSAI-licensed?
- Is shipping included, and to which PIN codes?
- What happens if a box arrives damaged, and by when must it be reported?

Ratnagiri is a district on the Konkan coast and Devgad is a taluka in Sindhudurg district; both grow the same variety under the same GI, and our price for a given grade is the same for both. We do not rank one above the other. Our Ratnagiri and Devgad Hapus guide explains the belts, and how to identify an Alphonso mango covers the fruit.
Ripening, carbide and the law
We do not use carbide. Our Alphonso mangoes are ripened naturally on hay beds. Calcium carbide is prohibited for ripening fruit in India under Regulation 2.3.5 of the Food Safety and Standards (Prohibition and Restrictions on Sales) Regulations, 2011. We are an FSSAI-licensed seller. No home test proves how a mango was ripened; the bucket-of-water test is a rough clue, not proof. Ask the seller and expect a straight answer.
When your box arrives, the fruit will be firm. Keep it in a single layer at room temperature away from sun for two or three days until it smells sweet at the stalk and gives slightly at the shoulder. Do not refrigerate unripe fruit. Our page on ripening Alphonso at home has the details.
Delivery, damage reports and the off-season
We dispatch by Blue Dart, and about 65% of Indian PIN codes get next-day delivery. Orders received before 1 PM are dispatched the same day. Check your PIN code at checkout. Damage should be reported within 24 hours of delivery to support@alphonsomango.in or 8369048029. Shipping charges by destination are explained in our shipping charges guide.
The 2027 season opens on 1 February 2027. Outside the season we do not sell fresh Alphonso, and the price you see on an off-season "Alphonso" elsewhere is not a price for Konkan Hapus. Alphonso pulp tins (850 g and 3.1 kg, from Rs 590) are available all year. We have sold mangoes since 2019, online since 2020, to 47,000+ customers including offline and marketplace sales, and the mango collection shows everything we list.
People also ask
What is the price of Alphonso mango per dozen?
At AlphonsoMango.in a dozen Ratnagiri or Devgad Alphonso starts from Rs 1,849 for the smallest grade and goes up to Rs 2,999 for the largest single dozen. Two-dozen boxes run from Rs 3,499 to Rs 5,399. Prices change with grade and availability, so check the product page for today's price.
What is the 1 kg Alphonso mango price?
We do not quote a per-kg price. A kilo of small Alphonso holds six or seven fruits while a kilo of the largest grade holds three or four, so one per-kg figure is misleading. We sell by the dozen of one grade; a dozen weighs roughly 1.8 to 3.3 kg depending on grade.
Why is Alphonso mango so expensive?
Grade is the main reason: larger fruit costs more per dozen. Supply is limited to one coast and one short season, about February to June. Natural ripening on hay beds takes days rather than hours, and each box is packed for courier transit. Together these set the price of a genuine Konkan Alphonso.
How much does Alphonso mango pulp cost?
Our Alphonso Mango Pulp Tin starts from Rs 590 for the 850 g tin, with a 3.1 kg tin also listed. Pulp is available all year, unlike fresh Alphonso, which is sold only during the season from 1 February 2027. Check the product page for today's price.
