Borivali sits at the northern end of Mumbai's suburbs, beside Sanjay Gandhi National Park, and most families there have more than one way to buy fruit. There are carts and stalls outside the stations, local fruit shops, supermarkets, and the vendors who walk into housing societies in season. Each has a place. The question is which one suits the box you want.

Ways to buy Alphonso in Borivali
Option Good for Watch for
Station or street stall A few pieces to eat soon Mixed sizes; ask how it was ripened
Local fruit shop A familiar seller you can return to Origin and count per dozen are not always stated
Society vendor Convenience at your gate Quantity and grade vary by visit
Online order Gift boxes, a named origin, an even grade You choose from the product page, not the crate

We are Powle Home Foods in Mumbai, and AlphonsoMango.in is our online store. We do not run a stall in Borivali, so this page is for the buyer who wants to order from home.

Choosing a box for a Borivali household

Original Devgad Alphonso mango export quality Devgad Hapus order now

Ratnagiri and Devgad Alphonso are the same variety, also called Hapus. Ratnagiri is a district, and Devgad is a taluka in Sindhudurg district. We do not rank one above the other, and both of our listings start from Rs 1,849 per dozen. What changes the price is the grade, which is sized by fruit weight, and the number of dozens.

  • A flat with two to four people: one dozen, which weighs roughly 1.8 to 3.3 kg depending on grade, lasts a few days of eating.
  • A joint family or a function: two dozen or more, ordered together.
  • Aamras for the whole week: add our Alphonso Mango Pulp Tin, from Rs 590, which is sold all year.

Prefer another variety? Our Kesar mango starts from Rs 999 per box. Check each product page for the current price.

Ordering for a housing society or a tower

Many Borivali buildings have a security desk that takes parcels, a lift and a fixed delivery window. A few habits save trouble when fresh fruit is involved.

  • Give a phone number that will be answered. The courier will call before delivery.
  • Tell the security desk to expect a fruit box, and ask them to keep it out of the sun.
  • Open the box on arrival, and set the fruit out on a tray.
  • Report any damage within 24 hours of delivery.

If neighbours want to order together, one larger order is simpler than many small ones. Write to us through the contact page with the number of dozens, the grade, the building's PIN code and the dates you need. We will tell you what is possible. For gifts to several people, our corporate gifting guide lists what to ask any supplier.

Mango season in Mumbai

Alphonso is harvested about February to June, with the best supply from March to May. The 2027 season opens on 1 February 2027. Outside the season we do not sell fresh Alphonso, though Alphonso pulp tins are available all year. For a month-by-month view of the city, see our guide to the Alphonso mango season in Mumbai, and for events, the page on the mango festival in Mumbai.

The price on a fruit cart can change from one week to the next, and it depends on the grade and on how the seller counts. For a view across the city, read our Hapus mango price in Mumbai page.

Where our Alphonso comes from and how it is ripened

Harvesting Alphonso Hapus mango in Ratnagiri Konkan Maharashtra

Our fruit is sourced across 48 villages of the Ratnagiri and Devgad belt on the Konkan coast. It is hand-harvested with a zela pole fitted with a catching net, and the harvest is done at Brahma Muhurta, before sunrise. We hold GI Authorised User certificate AU/5974/GI/139/260 (GI No. 139); the details are on our Brand Facts page. We have served 47,000+ customers, including offline and marketplace sales.

Hapus Aam natural hay-ripened mango in Borivali Mumbai

Calcium carbide is prohibited for ripening fruit in India under Regulation 2.3.5 of the Food Safety and Standards (Prohibition and Restrictions on Sales) Regulations, 2011. We do not use carbide. Our Alphonso mangoes are ripened naturally on hay beds. No smell or colour check proves how a mango was ripened, and a bucket test is only a rough clue, not proof. If you want to learn what to look for, read how to identify carbide-ripened mangoes online.

After the box arrives: ripening, storage and eating

A box that arrives in Borivali is usually not all at the same stage. Some fruit will be soft and fragrant near the stalk, and some will need a few more days. Lay the fruit on a tray in a single layer and keep it at room temperature, away from sun and from a hot kitchen shelf. Eat the softest pieces first. Once a piece is ripe, the fridge will hold it for a few days, though the flavour is better if you bring it back to room temperature before eating.

Mumbai's humid months make fruit ripen quickly, so do not leave a box closed for a long stretch. Our guide on how to ripen Alphonso mango explains the stages. For a gift to a family in Borivali from another city, enter the recipient's address and PIN code at checkout, and let them know a box is on the way.
