An online mango purchase works best when you know the variety, source and season before paying. We sell Alphonso from Ratnagiri and Devgad from Rs 1,849 per dozen and Kesar from Rs 999, delivered by Blue Dart. Check grade, certificate and contact.
Why buy mangoes online, and what can go wrong
Online buying brings the choice of variety, grade and source to your phone, and the box arrives at your address. It also removes the one thing a stall gives you, which is the chance to smell and press the fruit. A good online purchase replaces that with information you can read: where the fruit grew, how it was ripened, who delivers it and who answers when something is wrong.

We are Powle Home Foods in Mumbai, and we run AlphonsoMango.in. We have sold mangoes since 2019, online since 2020, and have served 47,000+ customers, including offline and marketplace sales. This guide is how I would explain the purchase to a friend.
The risks are real but manageable: fruit that arrives bruised, a variety that is not what the page said, ripening that does not match the photo, and a seller who is hard to reach. The sections that follow address each.
Which mango to buy: Alphonso, Kesar and others
Pick by what you want from the fruit. Alphonso (Hapus) is a small saffron-fleshed mango with soft, non-fibrous pulp, grown on the Konkan coast. Kesar is the mango of Junagadh and the Gir foothills in Gujarat; Wikipedia and Zee News report that the Nawab of Junagadh, Mahabat Khan III, named it Kesar around 1934 on seeing its orange pulp. They are different mangoes with different prices, and neither is a substitute for the other.

| Variety | Region | Sold as | Starting price |
|---|---|---|---|
| Alphonso, Ratnagiri | Konkan coast, Maharashtra | Dozen | from Rs 1,849 per dozen |
| Alphonso, Devgad | Konkan coast, Maharashtra | Dozen | from Rs 1,849 per dozen |
| Kesar | Gujarat | Half-dozen or dozen | Rs 999 and Rs 1,699 |
| Pairi | Maharashtra (Konkan) | Dozen | from Rs 2,799 per dozen |
Dasheri, Totapuri, Salem and Malgova have their own product pages in the mango collection. Prices change with grade, so check the product page for the current price. A dozen weighs roughly 1.8 to 3.3 kg depending on grade.
What to check when you buy Alphonso online
Alphonso from the Ratnagiri and Devgad belt is GI-tagged in India under GI number 139, and for Alphonso we hold GI Authorised User certificate AU/5974/GI/139/260 (GI No. 139). Ratnagiri is a district; Devgad is a taluka in Sindhudurg district. The same variety grows in both, and we do not rank one over the other. Our guide to the Alphonso GI tag explains the certificate.
- Source named? Ratnagiri, Devgad or Sindhudurg, not just "Konkan style".
- Certificate shown? Ask for the number and what it covers.
- Grade and count? The same dozen can be small or large fruit.
- Season sensible? Fresh Alphonso is a February to June fruit; best supply is March to May.
We do not use carbide. Our Alphonso mangoes are ripened naturally on hay beds. Calcium carbide is prohibited for ripening fruit in India under Regulation 2.3.5 of the Food Safety and Standards (Prohibition and Restrictions on Sales) Regulations, 2011. We are an FSSAI-licensed seller. No home test proves how a mango was ripened, so ask any seller directly.

Delivery, damage and what to do on arrival
We dispatch by Blue Dart, and about 65% of Indian PIN codes get next-day delivery. Orders received before 1 PM are dispatched the same day. Check your PIN code at checkout. We do not promise a day for any named city; the checkout message for your PIN code is the timing we stand behind. Shipping is shown at checkout; our shipping charges guide explains it.
- Choose an address where someone can receive a perishable box on a working day.
- Open the box on arrival and lay the fruit out at room temperature, away from sun.
- Do not refrigerate firm fruit. Ripening takes about 15 days from harvest, so some fruit may arrive firm.
- Report damage within 24 hours of delivery to support@alphonsomango.in or 8369048029.

Season, quantity and eating
The 2027 season opens on 1 February 2027. Fresh Alphonso is not sold outside the season, but the Alphonso mango pulp tin (850 g and 3.1 kg, from Rs 590) is available all year. For how much to buy, think of eating days: ripe Alphonso is best within a few days, so one dozen suits a small household for a week and two suit a festival table.
For eating, 100 g of raw mango provides about 36 mg of vitamin C, roughly 40% of the Daily Value (generic mango figure). Mango also carries natural sugars; people managing blood sugar should ask their doctor. We sell fruit, not medical advice. Our mango nutrition facts page lists the full table, and the aamras recipe uses soft fruit.
Mistakes to avoid on your first online mango purchase
- Buying the cheapest dozen. A lower price can mean a smaller grade, a different variety or fruit from outside the named belt. Compare grade and count first, then price.
- Treating every orange mango as Alphonso. Kesar, Pairi, Dasheri and others are good mangoes in their own right, but they have separate pages and prices. A page should name the variety plainly.
- Ordering outside the season. Fresh Alphonso is a February to June fruit. Out of season, buy the pulp tin rather than a doubtful fresh box.
- Ignoring the address. A box left at a locked door for a day or two loses its best days. Pick an address with someone present.
- Skipping the support check. Before you pay, find the seller's email and phone number on the site. Ours are support@alphonsomango.in and 8369048029.
- Believing a single home test. The bucket-of-water test is a rough clue, not proof, of how a mango was ripened. Ask the seller instead.
If you are still unsure which box to choose, read the online mango purchase note or write to us with your household size and the occasion.
