Top Premium Mango Brands in Mumbai

Looking for top premium mango brands in Mumbai? Learn how to verify GI certification, natural ripening, and gram weight before buying authentic Alphonso online.

In Mumbai, a premium mango brand should show a verifiable GI authorisation, an FSSAI licence, weight grades in grams, a stated ripening method and a written claim policy. We do not rank rival brands. AlphonsoMango.in is based in Kurla West, offers Sunday delivery to Mumbai addresses and publishes its numbers for you to check.

What should premium actually mean?

The word is cheap to print and expensive to earn. A premium mango is not one with a gold sticker. It is one where the seller can show where it grew, how it was graded, how it was ripened and what happens if it arrives wrong, and then charges more because those things cost more.

Mumbai buyers are well placed to judge. Many have family in the Konkan, a favourite fruit stall, an opinion about Devgad versus Ratnagiri and a low tolerance for nonsense. Use that scepticism. It is the best tool you have.

Mumbai's mango landscape

Most buyers meet Alphonso through four routes: a street or market vendor, a neighbourhood fruit shop, a supermarket or quick-commerce shelf, and a direct seller that ships from the Konkan or from Mumbai. Each has strengths. A vendor lets you touch and smell. A shop gives you a relationship. A supermarket offers convenience. A direct seller offers named origin, grades and a written policy, at the cost of not seeing the fruit first.

The question for each is the same: what can they prove? We are one direct seller among several, and this article does not claim we are the best. It gives you the questions so that you can decide.

Six questions for any brand

Question A good answer sounds like
Are you a GI Authorised User? A number you can check at the GI Registry
Which district and villages? Names, not just "Konkan"
What grade is a dozen? Piece weight in grams
How is it ripened? Hay or controlled ethylene; no carbide
What if it arrives damaged? A written window and an evidence rule
Where are you based? A real address and a phone that answers

Ask them by message and keep the replies. A brand that answers all six clearly has done the work. One that avoids two has told you something. For the longer checklist, see our article on comparing GI-tagged sellers online.

What we offer a Mumbai buyer

  • Base: Powle Home Foods, Kurla West, Mumbai 400070. We are an online seller, not a walk-in shop.
  • Sunday delivery to Mumbai addresses, which is rare for fresh fruit. Dispatch otherwise runs Monday to Saturday, same day for orders before 1:00 PM IST.
  • Grades: small (150-180 g) ₹1,849, medium (180-220 g) ₹2,099, large (225-250 g) ₹2,499, extra large (250-275 g) ₹2,699 and jumbo (275-300 g) ₹2,999 per dozen. Two dozen costs ₹3,499 to ₹5,399.
  • Origin: Ratnagiri and Devgad Alphonso, from 48+ villages across Raigad, Ratnagiri and Sindhudurg.
  • Delivery: free on every order. BlueDart carries it; payment is prepaid only. PIN codes must be serviceable.
  • Gifts: boxes from ₹2,249; see the gifting page.

Per kg these come to roughly ₹800 to ₹1,030 (approximate). Fruit is harvested to order and shipped semi-ripe, so expect to ripen it for a few days at home. Check your PIN code on the Ratnagiri page or the Devgad page. If you need a larger quantity for a business, ask for a quote rather than assuming a discount.

Receiving a box in a Mumbai building

High-rises add their own friction. A courier cannot reach your floor if security keeps him at the gate.

  • Tell the building security in advance and give them your mobile number.
  • Put tower, wing, floor and flat number in the address, with a landmark.
  • Be present or name someone. A missed delivery hurts semi-ripe fruit.
  • Open the box the same day, sort by ripeness and spread the fruit in a dry, ventilated spot.

If something is wrong, photograph it and report within 24 hours to WhatsApp +91 70830 75556 or support@alphonsomango.in with the order number. Approved claims are replaced or refunded within 2 business days. A re-delivery fee applies only if the address or phone was wrong. Details are in the shipping policy and return policy.

Ripened naturally, no carbide

In a city that eats a great deal of mango, forced ripening is a real concern. We do not use carbide. Our Alphonso mangoes are ripened naturally (on hay beds, as our FAQ states).

Calcium carbide is prohibited for ripening fruit in India under Regulation 2.3.5 of the Food Safety and Standards (Prohibition and Restrictions on Sales) Regulations, 2011. It releases acetylene and may contain arsenic and phosphorus. FSSAI permits ethylene up to 100 ppm; see fssai.gov.in. Mumbai traders call carbide-treated fruit "masala" fruit. White or grey calcium hydroxide residue, uniformly bright yellow skin on hard flesh and a sour taste are red flags. A float test is a rough clue only; a lab test is the proof.
