Repeat-order data from 47,000+ customers shows north India (which includes Rajasthan) leans toward Ratnagiri Alphonso. Devgad fruit, sourced from villages like Devgad, Jamsande and Vijaydurg along the Sindhudurg coast, tends to register at the upper end of that 18–24° Brix band.
Delivery Across India
Every box leaves our Mumbai packhouse at 70–80% ripeness — firm enough to survive transit, fully ripe within about three days of reaching you. The supply chain runs like this: hand-harvested fruit in Ratnagiri or Devgad reaches our packhouse within roughly two hours of leaving the tree. After post-harvest cooling, air-conditioned vehicles carry it 10–12 hours to Mumbai. Then 24–48 hours of natural hay-bed ripening. Then dispatch.
Courier partners — BlueDart, Delhivery, Ekart or XpressBees depending on your Udaipur pin code — deliver to 15,000–17,000 serviceable pin codes across India. Orders placed before 12 noon IST (Monday to Saturday) are dispatched the same day. Delivery takes 1 to 3 days for most PIN codes and 1 to 2 days to most metros, depending on your PIN code. Fresh mangoes are delivered by Blue Dart to more than 4,700 PIN codes.
Packaging matters more than most buyers realise. Each fruit goes into a foam-net sleeve (flat width 50–55 mm, length 100–120 mm by fruit size) and sits in a 12-slot partition inside a 5-ply corrugated fibreboard box. The partition, not the fruit, takes the transit pressure. Six air holes on the top and bottom keep airflow going so the fruit continues to ripen naturally inside the box. The foam nets prevent the skin friction that blackens Alphonso lenticels during a long surface journey.
One honest limit: we do not ship fresh Alphonso or Kesar between July and January. If you are reading this outside the February to June season, the 2027 mango season starts on 1 February 2027, and fresh mangoes are out of stock until then. You can also browse our year-round catalogue (Aamras, mango pulp, cashews, dates, saffron).
Where These Mangoes Come From
Prashant Powle sources from 48 coastal villages across Ratnagiri and Devgad. On the Ratnagiri side, that includes Pawas, Golap, Nachane, Mirya and Kalbadevi, among others. On the Devgad side, villages like Girye, Waghotan and Kunkeshwar — most of them sea-facing, with orchards typically 12–25 years old.
We work with 100+ partner farmer families. Every family follows strict cultivation SOPs covering which natural sprays and fertilisers are applied from flowering to harvest. No family on our network uses calcium carbide. The fruit is independently tested through the season by Envirocare Labs Pvt. Ltd. (NABL accredited, Thane — certificate TC-8284). Their April 2025 report found all 28 residues within Codex maximum residue limits; 27 of 28 were below the limit of quantification (0.01 mg/kg). We say "independently tested, all residues within Codex limits" — not "pesticide-free," because one residue (thiamethoxam, 0.013 mg/kg against a limit of 0.2 mg/kg) was detected, well within limits.
Harvesting is done by hand using a Nutan/Zela pole fitted with a catching net and a cutting mechanism. The tree is never shaken. Fruit never falls. For taller trees, an indigenously developed length-extending pole with a camera is used.
What GI No. 139 actually means for a buyer in Udaipur
GI Tag No. 139 covers Alphonso mangoes grown in Ratnagiri and Sindhudurg districts. It is a geographical indication — meaning the name "Alphonso" on our boxes is legally tied to this specific geography. Powle Home Foods holds GI Authorised User status AU/5974/GI/139/260, Registry Certificate No. 4163, issued 16 October 2019. When you order from us, that certificate is the chain of custody between the Konkan coast and your doorstep in Udaipur.
How They Are Ripened
Every mango at our Mumbai packhouse is ripened on a hay bed — the traditional Aadi method — in temperature-controlled rooms. No ethylene chambers. No calcium carbide. No artificial ripening agents of any kind.
The 24–48 hours at the packhouse is monitored ripening, not gas-triggered softening. This is why the texture holds: the fruit arrives firm, finishes ripening on your counter over about three days, and the pulp stays fibre-free without going mealy. Carbide-ripened fruit skips the middle stage and collapses.
Before ripening, every fruit goes through AI/ML-assisted machine scanning for internal defects (spongy tissue) and external deformities. Each mango is weighed and graded: Small (150–180 g), Medium (180–225 g), Extra Large (250–275 g) or Jumbo (275–300 g). You get a consistent box, not a mixed bag.
How to Order
- Step 1 — Select your variety and grade. Kesar Mango is priced at ₹999 to ₹1,699 per box. Alphonso grades (Small through Jumbo, by fruit weight) are listed on the product pages with current seasonal pricing. Choose half dozen, 1 dozen or 2 dozen depending on how many you need.
- Step 2 — Add to cart and enter your Udaipur pin code. The checkout will confirm serviceability and assign the right courier for your area.
- Step 3 — Dispatch. Your order ships via BlueDart, Delhivery, Ekart or XpressBees depending on pin code.
If transit damages or quality fails any fruit, photograph or video it and send the evidence on WhatsApp within 24 hours of delivery. No physical return is needed. We replace with a fresh dispatch or credit your account for the next purchase.
Storage After Delivery
The box arrives with fruit at 70–80% ripeness. Leave it at room temperature — do not refrigerate immediately. Udaipur summers run hot; if your room exceeds 38–40°C, keep the box in a cooler room or in the lower shelf of the refrigerator after the fruit is 90% ripe. Cut fruit keeps in the refrigerator for a day. Whole ripe Alphonso can go into the fridge for 2–3 days without losing much flavour, though the skin sometimes darkens.
Once the fruit gives slightly to thumb pressure near the stem, it is ready. The smell tells you before the colour does — Alphonso at full ripeness has a fragrance that is not subtle.
Nutrition
Ripe Alphonso pulp contains roughly 30–36 mg of vitamin C per 100 g. That meets about 40–45% of the ICMR-NIN 2020 RDA for adult men (80 mg/day) and about 50% for adult women (65 mg/day) in a single 100 g serving. Mangiferin, a bioactive compound in Alphonso pulp, showed anti-inflammatory activity in a cell study (Govindappa et al., 2011).
Alphonso puree is suitable for babies from about 6 months as a serving suggestion — this is not medical advice; check with your paediatrician for your child's specific needs.
