Why Alphonso Mangos

It is grown only in Sthe Indhudurga (Devgad), Ratnagiri, Thane, Raigad, and Palghar districts. It is known for its peculiar, mesmerizing, sweet, tangy, and delicious taste. Our hapus are naturally ripened without any chemicals, such as Calcium carbide.

Know more about artificially ripened Alphonso Mangoes Hapus Mango Fruit cultivation, which is very susceptible to mother nature. In the current scenario, there were multiple storms, rains, and differences in the climate at various stages.

This changed the cycle of Hapus earlier. We used to deliver our first box on Diwali in November.

But for many years, the harvesting has been delayed. Many natural problems impact it.

Our website helps you to choose online from the range of mangoes like:

Due to our stringent policies, we harvest mangoes only on Brahma Muhurta, which starts at 3.10. We stop before sunrise, which generally happens between 6:30 and 6:30 a.m.

We only harvest hand-picked mangoes that are about 70% to 75% ripe. These mangoes are mature but not fully ripe when picked. During harvesting, we carefully sort the mangoes according to strict standards. This means we reject about 25% to 30% of the mangoes that go to canning.

The remaining mangoes, which are well-shaped and the right size and weight, are sorted and graded. They are then packed into crates and arranged like grass haystacks.

We transport our fruits in a special refrigerated van to our hubs in Mumbai and Pune. This ensures their quality and keeps them safe from heat and damage during transport.

They are about 3 to 6 inches in size and even shape. The skin of ripe Hafoos turns yellow. They are a beautiful golden-yellow colour with a hint of red on the side that gets sunlight in the morning.

At first, Sunrise lights fall on this Hapus, giving the fruits facing the east side of our farms a red hue. Multiple reasons, like a short season or natural calamities, impact the higher prices of Alphonso Mangoes

Generally, as a thumb rule, mangoes are cheaper in April and May. Hafoos farmers in Ratnagiri, Devgad, and other regions of Konkan produce our mangoes.

It is also known as Famous HAPUS and has a government-recognized Geographical Indication (GI) tag. This includes the Devgad hapus, Ratnagiri hapus, Sindhudurga Hapus, and other nearby areas. These GI tags help you identify the authenticity and origin of the Hapus.

  • Delicate Handling:  Alphonso mangoes are fragile and require careful handling during harvesting, sorting, and transportation. This labour-intensive process increases their cost.
  • High Demand:  Alphonso mangoes are highly sought after both domestically and internationally. The high demand, coupled with limited supply, drives up their price.
  • Labour-Intensive Cultivation:  The cultivation of these mangoes requires careful attention and labour from planting and maintenance to harvesting. This increases production costs.
  • Quality Control and Certification:  Maintaining the high quality of Alphonso mangoes involves strict quality control measures and certifications, which also contribute to the final price.
  • Export demands:  The alphonso mango is a very popular fruit in many countries, and exporting it adds further costs due to shipping and quality control.
