Delivery Across India
Orders placed before 12:00 noon IST (Monday–Friday) dispatch the same day from our Mumbai or Pune depot. BlueDart air freight covers 2,800+ PIN codes. Transit time by zone:
- Mumbai, Pune, Nashik: next-day delivery
- Delhi, Bangalore, Chennai, Hyderabad, Kolkata: 1–2 days
- Chandigarh, Bhopal, Indore, Ahmedabad: 1–2 days
- Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities, including Bhopal district villages: 2–3 days
Fruit ships in grass-cushioned crates to replicate the traditional hay-bed method. The grass absorbs shock and keeps individual mangoes from bruising against each other — a detail that mattered to us when we were still selling wholesale off the farm and watching retailers mishandle crates.
We do not deliver outside the March–June season window. Ordering in July through January means a wait-list pre-order, not immediate dispatch. That is an honest limit worth knowing before you order.

Where These Mangoes Come From
We source from 48 villages spread across Ratnagiri and Devgad talukas in the Konkan coast belt of Maharashtra. The laterite soil, salt-laden sea breeze, and the specific micro-climate between the Western Ghats and the Arabian Sea are why Alphonso from this belt tastes different from mangoes grown 80 km inland. You cannot replicate it elsewhere — the GI registry (GI No. 139, Certificate No. 4163, issued 16 October 2019) exists specifically because this geography is the product.
Prashant Powle oversees farm selection and sourcing partnerships in these villages. When we expanded from a wholesale-only model — where Alphonso wholesalers collected fruit directly from the farm — to direct consumer delivery, the first decision was to keep sourcing within the same 48-village radius rather than aggregating from outside the GI zone to fill orders faster.
Which village produces the best Devgad Alphonso?
Devgad taluka as a whole holds GI protection, not individual villages within it. But orchards in coastal-facing slopes near the Devgad town belt consistently score Brix above 24 at peak ripeness, which is why we prioritise those farms for export boxes going to Japan and Singapore.
How We Harvest
Harvesting starts at Brahma Muhurta — 3:10 AM — and closes by sunrise, around 7:00 AM. This is not a marketing story. Fruit cut before the day heats up retains lower pulp temperature, which slows post-harvest respiration and gives the mango more shelf life when it reaches you. A mango harvested at 2 PM on the same day from the same tree loses 6–10 hours of shelf life before it even leaves the farm.
After cutting, the fruit goes into grass-filled crates. Grass absorbs ethylene and cushions the fruit. From the farm, crates travel to our Mumbai and Pune depots. There, a grading team sorts by weight, skin uniformity, and absence of sap burns or lenticel spots before packing into your order box.
What is the Brix level of Devgad Alphonso?
Devgad Alphonso measures 23–26 Brix at peak ripeness (late April through mid-June). Ratnagiri Alphonso runs 18 to 24 Brix. For context, most supermarket mangoes sold year-round in India test at 14–17 Brix because they are harvested green and ripened artificially.
Natural Ripening — No Carbide
We ripen using the traditional hay-bed method. Mangoes rest in dry hay at ambient temperature until the skin turns and the fruit yields slightly to thumb pressure. No calcium carbide, no ethylene injection chambers. Carbide-ripened mangoes develop colour but not flavour — the skin goes yellow while the pulp stays white and fibrous near the seed. You have almost certainly eaten one and wondered why Alphonso did not taste the way someone described it.
FSSAI regulations (licence 10020022011783) prohibit carbide ripening. We comply, but more practically, we sell to customers in Japan who run refractometer checks on delivery. A carbide-ripened Alphonso would not clear those buyers.
Nutrition
One 100 g serving of Alphonso mango provides approximately 60 kcal, 15 g carbohydrates, 1 g fibre, and 36 mg of Vitamin C (about 40% of the daily recommended intake for an adult). The fruit also contains beta-carotene — the pigment that makes the pulp saffron-coloured — which the body converts to Vitamin A. A single Alphonso mango eaten ripe provides roughly 25% of daily Vitamin A needs.
The high natural sugar content (Brix 18 to 24) means diabetics should eat in moderation. That is a factual limit, not a disclaimer inserted for legal cover.
Storage at Home
If the mangoes arrive firm and slightly green at the stem end, leave them at room temperature in a single layer — not stacked. They ripen in 2–4 days depending on ambient temperature. Once fully ripe (uniform golden skin, gentle give under thumb), refrigerate and consume within 3 days. Do not refrigerate unripe mangoes. The cold arrests ripening unevenly and leaves the pulp near the seed pale and tasteless.
Can I freeze Alphonso mango pulp?
Yes. Scoop ripe pulp into an airtight container, leave 2 cm headspace, and freeze at -18°C for up to 6 months. This is how we supply Alphonso mango pulp year-round through our mango pulp product — the pulp is frozen at peak Brix during the April–May harvest window.
Season Window
Ratnagiri Alphonso season opens mid-March and closes by late May in most years. Devgad Alphonso runs April through mid-June. By the first week of July, supply from both talukas effectively stops. We do not sell off-season Alphonso — there is no such product from the GI zone. Anything marketed as "Alphonso" in August is either cold-stored (texture degrades significantly) or mislabelled.
If you are reading this outside the March–June window, place a pre-season order now. We confirm dispatch dates as harvest begins.
We also carry Kesar mango from Saurashtra, which runs a slightly different season and ships in similar box formats. It is an option if Alphonso is out of stock or you want a lower Brix variety for cooking.
