Order Alphonso Mango Online — Delivered to Bhopal

Bhopal has no Konkan coastline, which means every Alphonso mango sold in a local market has already passed through two or three hands after leaving the orchard. We cut that chain. Powle Home Foods dispatches directly from our Malvan packing centre or Devgad packing point to your door — usually within 48–72 hours of harvest.

Ratnagiri vs Devgad: Which Alphonso?

Both carry GI No. 139. Both come from the same Konkan latitude. The difference is subtle but consistent across our 47,000+ orders since 2020: north India customers — and Bhopal sits squarely in that pattern — tend to reorder Ratnagiri. Mumbai customers lean Devgad. Here is the full picture.

Delivery Across India

We ship to 15,000–17,000 serviceable pin codes. Bhopal falls within the central India zone — expect delivery in 1–3 days from dispatch. Fruit leaves our Mumbai packhouse at 70–80% ripeness, firm enough for transit. It finishes ripening naturally at your home within about three days of delivery.

The supply chain runs like this: harvest in the orchard by hand (the tree is never shaken), then roughly 2 hours to the Ratnagiri or Devgad packhouse. Post-harvest hot-water treatment and cooling follow. An air-conditioned vehicle covers the 10–12 hours to Mumbai. Then 24–48 hours of natural hay-bed ripening at our Mumbai packhouse — and dispatch.

Courier: BlueDart, Delhivery, Ekart or XpressBees depending on your pin code. Each mango ships in a foam-net sleeve inside a 12-slot corrugated partition that takes transit pressure so the fruit doesn't. Six air holes in the box keep condensation from building up. Packaging is 5-ply corrugated fibreboard, 130 gsm, courier-grade.

Damage policy: 100% replacement with photo evidence within 24 hours of delivery.

What we don't do: we don't dispatch fresh Alphonso between July and January. If you land on this page in September, the season is closed. Alphonso is a seasonal fruit — that scarcity is part of what makes March–May special.

How to Order

  1. Step 1 — Select Grade: Choose Devgad Alphonso (₹1,849–₹5,499) or Kesar Mango (₹999–₹1,699) on the product page; pick the weight grade — Small (150–180 g), Medium (180–225 g), Extra Large (250–275 g) or Jumbo (275–300 g) — that suits your household size or gifting need.
  2. Step 2 — Add to Cart: Select half dozen, one dozen or two dozen boxes and complete checkout; the site shows live availability for each grade.
  3. Step 3 — Dispatch: We pick, grade, pack and hand over to BlueDart, Delhivery, Ekart or XpressBees depending on your pin code; most Bhopal deliveries arrive within 1–3 days.

Where Genuine Alphonso Comes From

Premium Alphonso mango from Konkan — delivered to Bhopal by AlphonsoMango.in

GI Tag No. 139 covers Ratnagiri and Sindhudurg districts in coastal Maharashtra. Alphonso grown anywhere else — including parts of Madhya Pradesh or Gujarat — cannot legally carry that GI designation. Ratnagiri won the Gold Medal at the national ODOP Awards 2024 as a district product. That recognition belongs to the geography.

Our sourcing spans 55 named villages. In Sindhudurg: Devgad, Jamsande, Vijaydurg, Dahibav, Kunkeshwar, Mithbav and 18 others. In Ratnagiri taluka: Pawas, Golap, Nachane, Mavalange, Mirya, Kalbadevi and more. In Rajapur and Lanja talukas: Rajapur, Bankot, Jaitapur, Anjarle, Velneshwar and Velas, among others.

We work with 100+ partner farmer families. Their orchards are typically 12–25 years old, sea-facing, selected by Prashant Powle on three criteria: Brix consistency across the tree, tree longevity, and how well the farmer manages alternate-bearing years. Orchards that chase yield at the expense of Brix don't make our network.

How the Fruit Is Harvested

Every mango is hand-picked using a Nutan or Zela pole fitted with a catching net and a cutting mechanism. The tree is never shaken. Fruit never falls to the ground. For tall trees, we use an indigenously developed length-extending pole with a camera so the picker can see the stem clearly before cutting. A bruised shoulder from a single drop can trigger spongy tissue days later — which is why we built the pole system rather than accept it as unavoidable.

How to Spot Real Alphonso Mango

The most reliable test isn't colour — it's provenance. Ask for the GI Authorised User number. Ours is AU/5974/GI/139/260 (Ratnagiri) and AU/6932 (Devgad), both under GI Registry Certificate No. 4163, issued 16 October 2019.

On the fruit itself: genuine ripe Alphonso has a thin, smooth skin with clearly visible lenticels (small yellow-orange dots). The pulp is deep saffron, fibre-free, with a clean sweet finish — no astringency, no resin aftertaste. Brix at full ripeness runs 18–24°. Carbide-ripened fruit typically shows uneven softening, a powdery skin surface and a flat flavour profile.

What does independently tested mean for our mangoes?

Envirocare Labs Pvt. Ltd., Thane — NABL accredited, certificate TC-8284 — tested a sample from our 2025 season (certificate 01/ETHAP2500044, issued 5 April 2025). All 28 residues were within Codex maximum residue limits. Twenty-seven of the 28 were below the limit of quantification (0.01 mg/kg). One residue — thiamethoxam — was detected at 0.013 mg/kg against a Codex limit of 0.2 mg/kg. We say "all residues within Codex limits." We don't say "pesticide-free" because one residue was present within limits. We also don't claim "carbide-free certified by lab" — this panel doesn't test calcium carbide. What we can say is that no carbide is used at any stage — and our natural hay-bed ripening process is the structural reason why.

Ripening: What We Do and What We Don't

Natural hay-bed ripening only. At our Mumbai packhouse, fruit rests on hay (called Aadi ripening locally) in temperature-controlled rooms for 24–48 hours before dispatch. No ethylene chambers. No calcium carbide. No artificial ripening agents of any kind. The hay-bed is monitored — it's an active process, not passive storage.

Calcium carbide is banned under FSSAI regulations. Beyond legality, carbide-ripened fruit ripens from the outside in, leaving the core under-ripe while the skin yellows. Natural ripening moves uniformly through the pulp, which is why the texture and Brix are consistent from skin to seed in our fruit.

We hold FSSAI licence 10020022011783 and APEDA registration 225579. The fruit we export to the US, UK, UAE, Singapore and Japan must pass phytosanitary inspection at destination — that alone makes consistent natural ripening non-negotiable.

Season Window and Availability

Alphonso season runs February to June, with the peak concentrated in March to May. Outside those months — July to January — we don't sell fresh Alphonso. There is no off-season stock sitting in cold storage waiting to be passed off as current-season fruit.

The 2026 season has already attracted attention. Prashant Powle was interviewed by The Economic Times in June 2026 on weather stress and yield pressure on the Alphonso crop (read the article). If supply tightens, we prioritise existing customers and maintain quality over volume.

Practical advice for Bhopal buyers: order in April for the best combination of availability and fruit maturity. Early March fruit is often slightly lower Brix. Late May and June fruit is excellent but window is short and boxes sell out fast — 46% of our customers reorder within the same season.

Nutrition: What's in One Serving

Ripe Alphonso pulp contains roughly 30–36 mg vitamin C per 100 g. A 100 g serving meets about 40–45% of the ICMR-NIN 2020 RDA for adult men (80 mg/day) and about 50% for adult women (65 mg/day). That's one medium-sized mango slice, not a full fruit.

Mangiferin — a compound present in Alphonso pulp and peel — showed anti-inflammatory activity in a 2011 cell study by Govindappa et al. Cell studies are not clinical trials; we're not making a therapeutic claim. But the compound is real and the study exists.

Alphonso puree is commonly introduced to babies from about 6 months as a first fruit, given its fibre-free, low-acid pulp. Keep it as a serving suggestion and check with your paediatrician for your child's specific readiness.

Can I buy Alphonso mangoes in the USA?

Yes, GI-certified Alphonso mangoes are exported to the US, UK, UAE, Singapore and Japan by APEDA-registered exporters including Powle Home Foods (APEDA 225579). For orders within India, alphonsomango.in ships to 15,000–17,000 pin codes from March to June.

Which Alphonso mango is best in India?

GI-certified Alphonso from Ratnagiri and Devgad in coastal Maharashtra is widely regarded as the best in India. Both carry GI Tag No. 139 and reach 18–24° Brix at ripeness. Devgad fruit typically sits at the upper end of that Brix range, while Ratnagiri Alphonso earned a Gold Medal at the national ODOP Awards 2024 as a district product.

Among 47,000+ customers on alphonsomango.in, north India buyers — including those ordering to Bhopal — tend to reorder Ratnagiri, while Mumbai buyers lean Devgad.

Why is Alphonso mango costly?

Alphonso mango is costly because every step resists shortcuts. Orchards fruit reliably only from March to June; a single hailstorm or unseasonal rain can cut yield sharply. Each fruit is hand-harvested using a pole with a catching net — the tree is never shaken. Then every mango is weighed, graded and scanned by AI-assisted machines for internal defects before packing.

Natural hay-bed ripening in temperature-controlled rooms, air-conditioned transport from the Konkan coast, and 5-ply courier-grade packaging all add cost that carbide-ripened, ungraded fruit sold through middlemen simply doesn't carry.
