To order Alphonso mango online with confidence, look for ten things: a named origin, GI No. 139, natural ripening, a food licence, graded sizes, careful harvest, clear pricing, courier delivery, season honesty and a pulp option. AlphonsoMango.in offers all ten, from Rs 1,849 per dozen.
What you are ordering when you order Alphonso mango online
Alphonso, called Hapus in Maharashtra, is a small, saffron-fleshed mango. Fruits generally weigh 150 to 300 g, and the pulp is described as rich, creamy and non-fibrous. The variety is named after Afonso de Albuquerque, and mango grafting was introduced in Portuguese Goa by Jesuit missionaries. Because Indian-group mangoes are monoembryonic, a named variety such as Alphonso is propagated by grafting, not from seed.

We are Powle Home Foods in Mumbai, and we run AlphonsoMango.in. We have sold mangoes since 2019, online since 2020, and have served 47,000+ customers, including offline and marketplace sales. The ten reasons below are the points we would check ourselves if we were buying a perishable fruit from a website. Each one is something you can verify, not a slogan.
Reasons 1 to 5: origin, licence, ripening, size and harvest
- A named origin. Our Alphonso is sourced across 55 villages of the Ratnagiri and Devgad belt on the Konkan coast. Ratnagiri is a district; Devgad is a taluka in Sindhudurg district.
- A GI number you can look up. Alphonso from this belt is GI-tagged in India under GI No. 139, and we hold GI Authorised User certificate AU/5974/GI/139/260 (GI No. 139). The Alphonso GI tag guide explains what the number means.
- Natural ripening. We do not use carbide. Our Alphonso mangoes are ripened naturally on hay beds. Calcium carbide is prohibited for ripening fruit in India under Regulation 2.3.5 of the Food Safety and Standards (Prohibition and Restrictions on Sales) Regulations, 2011.
- A food licence. We are an FSSAI-licensed seller. Ask any seller the same question.
- Graded sizes. The dozen is sold by fruit weight, from 150 to 180 g up to 275 to 300 g each. A dozen weighs roughly 1.8 to 3.3 kg depending on grade.

The fifth point matters more than it sounds. Two boxes both called a dozen can differ by well over a kilo. When you compare sellers, compare the grade and the count, not the headline price. Ask how many fruits are in the box and what each weighs. Harvest is also part of quality: our fruit is hand-harvested with a zela pole fitted with a catching net, so it is not dropped, and harvest is done pre-dawn.
Reasons 6 to 10: pricing, delivery, season, pulp and choice
- Clear pricing. Ratnagiri and Devgad Alphonso start from Rs 1,849 per dozen. Larger grades cost more, and the largest listing on our order-online page is Rs 10,499 for five dozen. Check the product page for today's price.
- Courier delivery. We dispatch by Blue Dart, and about 65% of Indian PIN codes get next-day delivery. Orders received before 1 PM are dispatched the same day. Check your PIN code at checkout.
- Honesty about the season. Alphonso is harvested about February to June, with the best supply from March to May. The 2027 season opens on 1 February 2027.
- A year-round option. The Alphonso mango pulp tin (850 g and 3.1 kg, from Rs 590) is available all year.
- A choice of mangoes. Besides Alphonso we sell Kesar mango (half-dozen Rs 999, dozen Rs 1,699) and Pairi mango (from Rs 2,799 per dozen).
A word on price versus value. A dozen from the smallest grade is the usual first order, and it is enough to judge the fruit. Buying the largest grade or five dozen makes sense for gifting or a family gathering, but there is no need to start there. The number of fruits, not the size of the box, is what you are paying for.
Take the reasons as a checklist, not a sales pitch. A seller that scores well on five of the ten is better than one that scores on none. We would rather you check us against the list than take our word for it. If a seller cannot tell you the grade, the count, the origin and the ripening method in a few plain lines, you have learned what you needed to know before paying.
Why people pay for Alphonso: taste and nutrition

The case for Alphonso is mostly about flavour: a sweet, fruity scent, saffron-orange flesh and almost no fibre, which is why it is the mango of choice for aamras and for eating with a spoon, chilled but not cold. On nutrition, 100 g of raw mango provides about 36 mg of vitamin C, roughly 40% of the Daily Value, about 43 micrograms of folate, around 11% of the Daily Value, and about 168 mg of potassium, 6% of the Daily Value. These are figures for raw mango in general, not Alphonso-specific lab values; we do not have variety-level data and do not claim any.
Mango also carries natural sugars, so portion size matters if you are watching your intake. If you have a medical condition, ask your doctor or dietitian. We sell fruit, not health advice. Our pages on mango nutrition facts and mango and diabetes go through the numbers.
One practical note on spongy tissue. Alphonso can develop spongy tissue, an internal flesh disorder. ICAR-IIHR research traced it to the seed shifting into germination mode at about 60% fruit maturity. It is not visible from outside. If a fruit is affected, report it with the rest of any damage within 24 hours of delivery to support@alphonsomango.in or 8369048029.
How to order, step by step
The process is short. Choose Ratnagiri or Devgad on the Ratnagiri Alphonso page or the Devgad Alphonso page, pick the grade and number of dozens, then add to cart. Enter your PIN code, read the delivery message, and pay. We do not promise a delivery day for any named city.
When the box arrives, lay the mangoes in a single layer at room temperature, away from sun. Harvest to ripening of Alphonso takes about 15 days, so some fruit may still be firm. Do not refrigerate firm fruit. Our guide to ripening Alphonso at home has the full method. No home test proves authenticity; the bucket-of-water test is a rough clue, not proof.
