Alphonso mango season runs February to June (peak March to May). GI-certified Ratnagiri and Devgad Hapus — GI No. 139 — are available online from ₹1,849 per box, with BlueDart air dispatch reaching most Indian cities in 1–3 days. Carbide-free, naturally ripened in hay beds.

We source directly from 48 villages across Ratnagiri and Devgad, Konkan, Maharashtra. No middlemen. Prashant Powle selects orchards village by village — Velvand, Rajapur, Vijaydurg — before the season opens. Both products below are GI-certified under GI No. 139 and dispatched by BlueDart air the same morning your order clears.

What is the Brix level of Devgad Alphonso?
Devgad Alphonso mangoes from our Vijaydurg-belt orchards test at 23–26°Brix when fully ripe on the tree. Ratnagiri fruit from villages like Velvand typically reads 18 to 24°Brix. Both exceed the 20°Brix threshold that most export protocols require.
Delivery Across India
Orders placed before 10 AM IST on weekdays ship the same morning from our Ratnagiri packing station via BlueDart air freight. Transit time by zone:
- Metro cities (Mumbai, Delhi, Bengaluru, Chennai, Hyderabad, Kolkata): 1 day
- Tier-2 cities (Pune, Ahmedabad, Jaipur, Lucknow, Kochi): 1–2 days
- Tier-3 and remote PIN codes: 2–3 days
Each box is packed with natural hay bedding — the same material the growers use at the orchard — which cushions the fruit and allows it to breathe during transit. We do not use chemical ripening agents or sealed plastic wraps that trap ethylene and accelerate bruising.
We do not ship outside India through this website. For export orders (US, UK, UAE, Singapore, Japan), use the export enquiry form.
Mango Delivery by Post Office
India Post has run a mango delivery programme in several states, partnering with bodies such as state Mango Development and Selling Corporations to move Hapus fruit through postal channels in insulated boxes to select PIN codes. The cost of that delivery varies by distance.
This works for buyers in PIN codes served by the partnership. It does not replace courier-speed air dispatch. The postal route typically adds 2–4 days over BlueDart air, which matters when you are handling a perishable that ripens continuously after harvest.
Can I get mango delivered by post to my home?
Yes — through either the India Post partnership programme (where available by PIN code) or directly from alphonsomango.in via BlueDart. The direct route is faster. Orders through our site arrive in 1–3 days from Ratnagiri; the postal programme timelines depend on your state's arrangement with the local mango corporation.
Which states offer mango delivery by post office?
Maharashtra was among the first states to pilot the scheme, with the Maharashtra State Mango Development and Marketing Federation coordinating with India Post. Other states have followed in limited trial zones. Check your local post office or the India Post website for current PIN code coverage each season.
How to Identify Genuine Hapus
Fake Alphonso is a real problem at market stalls and on several online platforms. Three things separate the real fruit from carbide-ripened imposters sold under the Hapus name.
Skin colour: Genuine Ratnagiri Hapus shows a natural yellow-green blush with a faint saffron tinge at the shoulders. Carbide-ripened fruit turns uniform bright yellow with no green base — the colour change is too even and too fast.
Aroma: Real Alphonso carries a strong, sweet, floral scent even before you cut it. If you have to cut before you smell anything, it was ripened artificially.
GI tag: Ask for the GI certificate. Authorised users under GI No. 139 must display their user number. Ours is AU/5974/GI/139/260, issued 16 October 2019 under registry certificate 4163. Any seller who cannot produce an authorised user number is selling unverified fruit under the Alphonso name.
Natural Ripening: No Carbide
Every mango we dispatch ripens in a hay bed — loose, dry straw spread across wooden crates at the orchard or packing station. The hay insulates the fruit, maintains consistent temperature, and lets it release natural ethylene at its own pace. This takes 2–4 days longer than calcium carbide, which is why we harvest at the mature-green stage and pack immediately.
Calcium carbide is banned under FSSAI rules (FSSAI licence 10020022011783). Beyond legality, it produces acetylene gas that triggers surface ripening while the core stays raw. You get yellow skin and white flesh — edible, but nowhere near the 18 to 24°Brix sweetness of a properly ripened Konkan Hapus.
Some sellers use approved ethylene gas chambers, which is legal and produces acceptable fruit. We prefer hay beds because they require no energy input and match how growers in Ratnagiri's 48 villages have ripened fruit for generations. The result is consistent: flesh that is deep orange, fibrous only at the seed, and sweet through to the skin.
Mango Season and Crop This Year
The Alphonso season opens in mid-March with small early batches from lower-altitude orchards near Rajapur. Peak supply — when all 48 villages are harvesting — runs April through May. By mid-June, the Devgad belt winds down. We carry no stock from July through February. If you see "Alphonso" sold in August, it is not Konkan Hapus.
This year's crop is significantly reduced. Poor flowering — driven by unseasonal rain in November and December — cut fruit set to roughly 5% of a normal year in the worst-affected orchards. Early rain in February damaged another portion of the set fruit. Prices will reflect scarcity; availability will be limited and windows will close faster than usual. Pre-registering on the product page is the only reliable way to secure a box.
When does Alphonso mango season start and end?
Mid-March to mid-June, with peak availability in April and May. Devgad Alphonso runs about two weeks later than Ratnagiri fruit. Outside this window, no genuine Konkan Alphonso mango exists.
Nutrition in One Alphonso Mango
A single medium Alphonso mango (approximately 200 g edible flesh) delivers roughly 150 kcal, 38 g of carbohydrates, and a measurable 57 mg of vitamin C — about 63% of the adult daily requirement. The deep orange flesh colour comes from beta-carotene, a precursor to vitamin A.
Alphonso also contains mangiferin, a xanthonoid polyphenol studied for antioxidant properties, and is one of the few mango varieties with a flesh-to-seed ratio above 80% — which is why it became India's primary export variety for pulp and Aamras production under APEDA (registration 225579).
One honest note: mango is high in natural sugar. Anyone managing blood sugar should treat it as a moderate-portion fruit, not a daily staple in large quantity.
