Devgad fruit typically registers at the upper end of the 18–24° Brix band. Pune buyers who want a slightly richer sweetness tend to go Devgad. Those who prefer a firmer texture and want the classic Hapus balance lean Ratnagiri. Both carry the same GI No. 139 and both come from our 55 sourcing villages across Ratnagiri and Sindhudurg.

Delivery to Pune

Alphonso mango rate in Pune — GI-tagged Hapus packed for delivery in 5-ply CFB box with foam net sleeves

Orders dispatch from our Mumbai packhouse by BlueDart, Delhivery, Ekart or XpressBees depending on your pin code. Pune is well within the 20–24 hour metro delivery band, though we quote 1–3 days to account for local hub routing.

Each box is a 5-ply corrugated fibreboard courier-grade carton — 130 gsm paper, alternate flute orientation, reinforced corners. Every fruit sits in a foam-net sleeve (flat width 50–55 mm) on a hay bed. The 12-slot partition absorbs transit pressure so the fruit does not. Six air holes top and bottom keep airflow steady during the final ripening stage at your end.

Fruit arrives at 70–80% ripeness, firm enough for transit. It finishes within about three days on your kitchen counter. If any piece arrives damaged, photograph it within 24 hours of delivery and we replace it — 100%.

What if the mango arrives unripe?

That is intentional. We dispatch at 70–80% ripeness so the fruit survives the courier journey without bruising. Leave it at room temperature for two to three days. If you have a Pune summer afternoon, it will ripen faster than you expect.

Alphonso Mango Rate in Pune — What Drives the Price

Alphonso mango rate in Pune varies by grade, season week and Ratnagiri or Devgad origin

Three things move the alphonso mango rate in Pune more than anything else: the week of the season, the grade, and the source.

Season week. February fruit — early-harvest — commands a premium because volume is thin. April and early May is when the market is fullest and prices soften slightly. By late May and June, supply tightens again as orchards finish bearing and the rate climbs back. Prashant Powle told The Economic Times in June 2026 that weather and yield pressure had put the Alphonso market under real stress that year — exactly the kind of volatility that makes per-kg market rates unreliable as a buying guide.

Grade. A Jumbo fruit (275–300 g) from Vijaydurg or Pawas orchards costs meaningfully more per kilogram than a Small (150–180 g) from the same tree because each fruit takes longer to develop and fewer fit per box. Our grading is done by weight on a calibrated scale — every mango, every time — then scanned by AI/ML-assisted machine for internal defects like spongy tissue before packing.

Source and certification. A box carrying GI Authorised User number AU/5974/GI/139/260 (Ratnagiri) or AU/6932 (Devgad) is not the same as unbranded market fruit labelled "Hapus." The GI certificate — Registry Certificate No. 4163, issued 16 October 2019 — is verifiable. Uncertified fruit labelled Alphonso at Pune's Marketyard or local vendors may look similar but carries no traceable origin guarantee.

Why market rates per kilogram mislead

A per-kg rate from a Pune wholesale market includes ungraded, ungassed and sometimes calcium carbide-ripened fruit mixed with genuine GI Alphonso. Our fruit is independently lab-tested at Envirocare Labs Pvt. Ltd., Thane (NABL accredited, certificate TC-8284) — all 28 residues within Codex maximum residue limits, 27 of 28 below the limit of quantification of 0.01 mg/kg. We will not call it pesticide-free because thiamethoxam was detected at 0.013 mg/kg against a Codex limit of 0.2 mg/kg. That transparency is the point. No carbide, no ethylene chambers, and a lab report to show for it.

Where the Mangoes Come From

We source from 55 named villages across Ratnagiri and Sindhudurg districts. In Devgad taluka: Devgad, Jamsande, Vijaydurg, Dahibav, Hindale and 19 more. In Ratnagiri taluka: Pawas, Golap, Nachane, Mavalange, Waravade, Purnagad and 8 more. In Rajapur, Lanja and Mandangad: Rajapur, Bankot, Jaitapur, Ansure and 9 others.

Our 100+ partner farmer families work orchards that are typically 12–25 years old, sea-facing, selected for Brix consistency and alternate-bearing discipline. Fruit is hand-harvested using a Nutan/Zela pole with a catching net — the tree is never shaken. For tall trees, an indigenously developed camera-equipped extending pole guides the cut. A mango that falls to the ground before it is caught does not go into the box.

From tree to our Ratnagiri or Devgad packhouse takes about 2 hours. Then post-harvest hot-water treatment and cooling, 10–12 hours in an air-conditioned vehicle to Mumbai, 24–48 hours of natural hay-bed ripening, then dispatch. Harvest to your Pune address: typically 48–72 hours from the orchard, plus 1–3 days courier transit.

How We Ripen the Fruit

Natural hay-bed (Aadi) ripening in temperature-controlled rooms — no ethylene chambers, no calcium carbide, no artificial ripening agents of any kind. The 24–48 hours at the Mumbai packhouse is monitored natural ripening on hay. It is not gas-triggered.

This matters for Pune buyers in particular. Pune's summer heat means a carbide-ripened mango that arrives already soft will turn overripe within 24 hours. Our fruit, dispatched at 70–80% ripeness and ripened naturally, holds its texture for the three days it needs to finish at your end — and the flavour compounds that develop during natural ripening, including the esters that give Alphonso its characteristic fragrance, do not develop the same way under carbide.

How to Order

  1. Select your grade and origin. Choose Ratnagiri (₹1,849–₹5,399) or Devgad (₹1,849–₹5,499), then pick Small, Medium, Extra Large or Jumbo grade on the product page. Boxes come in half dozen, one dozen or two dozen options.
  2. Add to cart and check out. Enter your Pune pin code at checkout — this confirms serviceability and assigns the right courier from BlueDart, Delhivery, Ekart or XpressBees.
  3. Dispatch and delivery. Your order moves from our Mumbai packhouse to Pune by the assigned courier. Most Pune pin codes receive the box in 1–3 days.

People Also Ask

How much is 1 kg of Alphonso mango?

GI-tagged Alphonso mango from AlphonsoMango.in is sold by the box, not by the kilogram. A half-dozen box starts at ₹1,849 and a two-dozen box runs up to ₹5,499, depending on grade and source — Ratnagiri or Devgad. Per-kg market rates from Pune's Marketyard include ungraded, often carbide-ripened fruit and are not a fair comparison.

If you want a per-kg approximation: a 2-dozen Jumbo box at roughly 5 kg works out to around ₹1,000–₹1,100 per kg for certified, lab-tested GI Hapus delivered to Pune.

How much do Alphonso mangoes cost?

Alphonso mangoes from AlphonsoMango.in cost ₹1,849 to ₹5,499 per box for GI-tagged Hapus delivered to Pune. Ratnagiri Alphonso runs ₹1,849–₹5,399 and Devgad Alphonso ₹1,849–₹5,499. Three things move the price: the week of the season, the grade — Small to Jumbo — and whether the fruit carries a verifiable GI Authorised User number.

Prices are for the March–June season only; no fresh Alphonso is dispatched July to January.

Which mango is best in Pune?

GI-tagged Alphonso — Hapus — from Ratnagiri or Devgad is the standard Pune buyers reach for first. Devgad fruit typically sits at the upper end of the 18–24° Brix range, giving a slightly richer sweetness. Ratnagiri Alphonso offers the classic Hapus balance of sweetness and firmer texture. Both carry GI No. 139 and are sourced from sea-facing orchards in Konkan.

Pune buyers who want traceability and lab-tested fruit — all 28 residues within Codex limits — tend to order directly from certified GI Authorised Users rather than relying on unbranded market stock.
