A prevalent variety of north Goa Portuguese people named this fruit Malgesh because it was difficult for them to digest. Therefore, they used this fruit as a Table fruit.

There are two Variations of Malgesh Amo Goan's name or Malgesh Aam.

Akno Malgesh – High grade in Malgesh

Khand Malgesh: Lower grade comes with thick skin on them.

A synonym for Malgesh is Akno Malgesh, Malgess, Khand Malgesh, Malgessa, Malgeush, Malgueso, and Malgesta.

Culas Amo!

Well, a known variety of these fruits in Goa, grown at low heights and used generally as Table fruit, is not sweet but has a peculiar tangy flavour. 

They are Culas Amo, which is less preferred due to its tangy taste and lack of sweetness. It is available in variable variations.

(Bishop Amo)

Because they are limitedly cultivated in North Goa, they are typically consumed as home trees and are only available at very low rates.

They were harvested at the end of May and are of average quality. They are extensive and very susceptible to rotting inside. Because of their sour aftertaste, they are primarily used in pickles.

Synonyms for this are Bispo and Bisma. It was inspired by the size of the aam, which looks like the big belly of a Bishop!

Hilario Aam 

Hilario Aam is named after one farmer, Hilario Fernandes of Siolim village in the Bardez taluka of Goa. 

This tree was reported on the Hilario farm; hence, it is called Hilario. They arrive late in May and are available until July. As they are a bit sweeter than others, they fetch a reasonable price in the local market. Hence, Hilario (Mangilal) Amo is very much in demand in the market when no other suitable varieties are available in July.

A synonym for Hilario aam or Hilario Amo, which was slowly changed named in Konkani, is Mang Hilario, Mangilar, Manghilar, and Mangilal.

Mussarat Amo (Mussarat aamba) 

The Mussarat Amo Variety is used for sweet pickles. In Konkani, it is also known as Mangaad or Mangada (Goan aamba Jam) and is used in some processed food products.

It is North Goa produce, Mussarat aam, named after the Bardez taluka of Goa, where it originated or is found. It inhibits a bright red colour when the fruit is immature.

Fernandin aamba (Fernandin Amo) 

Fernandina is a variety that does not get spoiled due to fruit flies and heavy rains.

It originated from Bombay and was planted and cultivated there. They delayed flowering and fruiting them, during which harvesting season starts in June. Fernandina hapus is the only aam there that has more consistent pulp than others. Fernandina aam is mainly used as table fruit, yellow fruit with a tangy reddish shade on the shoulders.
