Delivery to Pali, Rajasthan

Fruit leaves the Mumbai packhouse 48–72 hours after harvest. It is dispatched at 70–80% ripeness — firm enough to survive the courier journey, ripening fully within about three days of delivery.

Courier is BlueDart, Delhivery, Ekart or XpressBees depending on your Pali pin code. Orders placed before 12 noon IST (Monday to Saturday) are dispatched the same day. Delivery takes 1 to 3 days for most PIN codes and 1 to 2 days to most metros, depending on your PIN code. Fresh mangoes are delivered by Blue Dart to more than 4,700 PIN codes. We cover 15,000–17,000 serviceable pin codes across India.

Every mango travels in a 5-ply corrugated fibreboard box (130 gsm, alternate flute orientation) with a 12-slot partition, six air holes for airflow and a hay-straw bed. Each fruit sits in a foam-net sleeve (flat width 50–55 mm) that prevents skin friction, stem punctures and latex cross-contamination during transit.

If fruit arrives transit-damaged or fails quality on delivery, report within 24 hours with photos or video on WhatsApp. No physical return is needed. We send a fresh replacement dispatch or credit your account for the next purchase. We do not replace fruit reported after 24 hours — so open and check the box the day it arrives.

Where These Mangoes Come From

Hapus aam in Pali — sourced from Ratnagiri and Devgad Konkan orchards

Powle Home Foods sources from 48 villages across Ratnagiri and Sindhudurg districts. In Devgad taluka alone, the sourcing network spans Devgad, Jamsande, Vijaydurg, Dahibav, Girye, Kunkeshwar and 18 other villages. In Ratnagiri taluka, Pawas, Golap, Nachane and Mavalange are among the primary supply points.

Prashant Powle founded AlphonsoMango.in in 2017, selecting orchards on three criteria: consistent Brix readings season to season, tree age (typically 12–25 years), and how the farmer manages alternate-bearing years. The orchards sit close to the Arabian Sea. That sea proximity — the salt air, the laterite soil, the specific rainfall pattern — is what makes Konkan Alphonso taste different from fruit grown inland.

Fruit is hand-harvested using a Nutan/Zela pole with a catching net. The tree is never shaken. Fruit never falls. For tall trees, an indigenously developed length-extending pole with a camera guides the cut. From tree to the Ratnagiri or Devgad packhouse takes about 2 hours. Air-conditioned vehicles carry the fruit to Mumbai, a 10–12 hour run, where it enters 24–48 hours of natural hay-bed ripening before dispatch.

What is the harvest-to-dispatch window?

48–72 hours from harvest to dispatch.

GI Tag and Certification

GI Tag No. 139 covers Alphonso mango from Ratnagiri and Sindhudurg districts. Powle Home Foods holds GI Authorised User number AU/5974/GI/139/260, issued under GI Registry Certificate No. 4163 on 16 October 2019. This is not a self-declared label — it is issued by the GI Registry of India after verification of sourcing origin.

APEDA registration 225579 covers export compliance. Ratnagiri Alphonso won the Gold Medal at the national One District One Product (ODOP) Awards 2024 — a recognition of the district's product, not a private brand award.

Is the mango pesticide-free?

We do not claim pesticide-free. Envirocare Labs Pvt. Ltd. (NABL accredited, certificate TC-8284) tested our fruit in April 2025. All 28 residues were within Codex maximum residue limits; 27 of 28 were below the limit of quantification (0.01 mg/kg). One residue — thiamethoxam — was detected at 0.013 mg/kg against a Codex limit of 0.2 mg/kg. The fruit is independently tested and within legal limits. Carbide use is separately absent from our process, but that specific panel does not test calcium carbide.

How We Ripen the Fruit

No ethylene chambers. No calcium carbide. No artificial ripening agents of any kind. The 24–48 hours at the Mumbai packhouse is natural hay-bed (Aadi) ripening in temperature-controlled rooms, monitored by the team. This is the same method Konkan farmers have used for generations — the hay absorbs moisture, regulates micro-temperature around each fruit and allows the natural ethylene the mango itself produces to do the work.

We also apply a controlled hot-water treatment after harvest to reduce surface issues and extend shelf life. Post-harvest cooling at the packhouse follows before the fruit enters the ripening room.

When your box arrives in Pali, the mangoes will be firm to slightly yielding. Leave them at room temperature for two to three days if you prefer a softer set. Do not refrigerate an unripe Alphonso — it stalls the process and causes skin discolouration.

Nutrition — What You Actually Get

Ripe Alphonso pulp contains roughly 30–36 mg of vitamin C per 100 g. A 100 g serving meets about 40–45% of the ICMR-NIN 2020 recommended daily allowance for adult men (80 mg/day) and about 50% for adult women (65 mg/day). Those figures are per 100 g — not per fruit, not per box.

Govindappa et al. (2011) identified anti-inflammatory activity from mangiferin, a compound present in mango, in cell studies. The fruit also contains vitamin A, vitamin K and naturally occurring sugars. People managing blood sugar should speak with their doctor about portion size — mango is not a low-glycaemic fruit.

Alphonso puree is suitable as a first food for babies from about 6 months. That is a serving suggestion, not medical advice.

Ratnagiri Alphonso won the Gold Medal at the ODOP Awards 2024 partly because of this nutritional density alongside its flavour profile. The Brix range of 18–24° means you are eating a fruit with significant natural sugar — which is exactly why Pali, a city with deep roots in sweet foods, tends to love it.

People Also Ask

Which Alphonso mango is the best?

Ratnagiri and Devgad Alphonso are both GI-tagged under GI No. 139, and both score 18–24° Brix at full ripeness — so "best" depends on what you want. Devgad fruit typically sits at the upper end of that Brix range, giving a richer sweetness. Ratnagiri is the consistent choice for first-time buyers across north India.

Repeat-order data from 47,000+ customers shows north India leans Ratnagiri; Mumbai leans Devgad — a useful guide if you are ordering for the first time from Pali.

Can I buy Alphonso mangoes in the USA?

Yes. GI-certified Alphonso mangoes from Ratnagiri and Sindhudurg are exported to the US, UK, UAE, Singapore and Japan. APEDA registration 225579 covers export compliance, and the fruit meets Codex residue standards confirmed by NABL-accredited Envirocare Labs. Availability depends on the season, which runs February to June each year.

AlphonsoMango.in ships internationally — check the site for current export availability and pin codes before ordering outside India.

Why is Alphonso mango expensive?

Alphonso mango from Konkan costs more because the yield is low, the season runs only February to June, and the fruit must travel by air-conditioned vehicle and courier within 48–72 hours of harvest. GI Tag No. 139 restricts the name to Ratnagiri and Sindhudurg — fruit grown anywhere else cannot legally carry it.

Hand harvesting with a Nutan/Zela pole, foam-net sleeves, 5-ply corrugated boxes and weekly pesticide testing by an NABL-accredited lab add real cost before the box reaches your door in Pali.

How much does an Alphonso mango cost?

Pricing changes each season based on yield, weather and grade. Alphonso mangoes are sold in half-dozen, 1-dozen and 2-dozen boxes, with four weight grades from Small (150–180 g) up to Jumbo (275–300 g). Heavier grades and smaller box sizes cost more per fruit. The season runs February to June, and prices typically shift as supply peaks in April and May.
