Order Alphonso Mango Online — Jodhpur

Jodhpur sits roughly 1,600 km from the Konkan coast, yet fruit harvested in Pawas or Devgad can be delivered to a Sun City address. That gap closed only when cold-chain courier networks reached Rajasthan's tier-1 cities — and we've been dispatching to Jodhpur pin codes every season since 2020.

Our own repeat-order data from 47,000+ customers confirms that north Indian cities — Jodhpur included — lean toward Ratnagiri fruit. Both carry the same GI No. 139 and the same ripening process. The difference is terroir: Devgad orchards sit close to the Arabian Sea on basalt-heavy laterite, which tends to push sugar accumulation slightly higher. If you want the sweeter-edged option, choose Devgad. If you want the classic Hapus balance with a little brightness, Ratnagiri.

Delivery to Jodhpur

Fruit is dispatched at 70–80% ripeness — firm enough to survive transit, and ripe enough to eat within three days of arrival. The harvest-to-dispatch chain runs like this: about 2 hours from the orchard to our Ratnagiri or Devgad packhouse, post-harvest cooling, then 10–12 hours in an air-conditioned vehicle to our Mumbai packhouse, where fruit rests on a hay bed for 24–48 hours before dispatch.

From Mumbai, courier partners carry the box to Jodhpur. Orders placed before 12 noon IST (Monday to Saturday) are dispatched the same day. Delivery takes 1 to 3 days for most PIN codes and 1 to 2 days to most metros, depending on your PIN code. Fresh mangoes are delivered by Blue Dart to more than 4,700 PIN codes.

Each box is a 5-ply corrugated fibreboard (CFB) carton, 130 gsm, courier-grade, with a 12-slot partition that takes the transit pressure instead of the fruit. Every mango sits in a foam-net sleeve (flat width 50–55 mm) on a hay bed. Six air holes top and bottom keep airflow going so the natural ripening continues evenly and condensation doesn't build up. No styrofoam. No ice packs that create condensation-driven anthracnose.

One honest limit: we do not ship fresh Alphonso from July to January. The season ends in June. The 2027 mango season starts on 1 February 2027, and fresh mangoes are out of stock until then.

How to Order

  1. Select your grade and origin. Visit our mango collection, choose Ratnagiri or Devgad Alphonso, then pick your grade — Small (150–180 g), Medium (180–225 g), Extra Large (250–275 g) or Jumbo (275–300 g) — and your box size: half dozen, one dozen or two dozen.
  2. Add to cart and check out. Enter your Jodhpur delivery address; the site will confirm your pin code is serviceable and assign the right courier partner automatically.
  3. We dispatch within 48–72 hours of harvest. Tracked end to end.

Where Your Mango Comes From

Prashant Powle founded AlphonsoMango.in in 2017 and built sourcing relationships across 48 coastal villages of Ratnagiri and Devgad. For Jodhpur orders, fruit typically comes from Ratnagiri taluka villages — Pawas, Golap, Nachane, Mavalange, Waravade — and from Devgad taluka villages including Jamsande, Vijaydurg, Dahibav and Girye. Orchards are 12–25 years old, sea-facing, selected on Brix consistency and long-term alternate-bearing management.

100+ partner farmer families supply us. Every family follows cultivation SOPs that specify which natural sprays and fertilisers are used from flowering through harvest. We test residues weekly through the season at Envirocare Labs Pvt. Ltd., Thane — NABL accredited, certificate TC-8284. The April 2025 report (01/ETHAP2500044, issued 5 April 2025) found all 28 residues within Codex maximum residue limits; 27 of 28 were below the limit of quantification (0.01 mg/kg). We say "independently tested, all residues within Codex limits" — not "pesticide-free."

How the Fruit Is Harvested

The tree is never shaken. Fruit is hand-picked using a Nutan/Zela pole fitted with a catching net and a cutting mechanism. For tall trees, Prashant's team uses an indigenously developed length-extending pole with a camera. The mango is cut, caught in the net and lowered — it never falls to the ground. A single impact bruise at harvest can turn into a dark spongy patch by the time the fruit reaches Jodhpur. Preventing that bruise at the source matters more than any amount of packaging downstream.

Grading Before Dispatch

Every fruit is weighed and graded individually. AI/ML-assisted machine scanning then checks each mango for internal defects — spongy tissue — and external deformities before packing. A fruit that fails either check does not go into a box. This is the step that separates a consistent online order from the random-quality experience at a local market.

Ripening and Safety

Our ripening method is natural hay-bed (Aadi) ripening in temperature-controlled rooms. No ethylene chambers. No calcium carbide. No artificial ripening agents of any kind. The 24–48 hours at our Mumbai packhouse is monitored natural ripening on hay — not gas-triggered. Fruit dispatched to Jodhpur arrives at 70–80% ripeness and finishes ripening within about three days of delivery. Keep it at room temperature after delivery; do not refrigerate until fully ripe.

Jodhpur summers are hot. If your home is above 35°C, move the box to a cooler room (not the refrigerator) and check the fruit daily from day two of arrival. The foam-net sleeves and partitioned box hold the fruit safely through the transit heat, but ambient storage post-delivery is your side of the deal.

Nutrition

Ripe Alphonso pulp contains roughly 30–36 mg of vitamin C per 100 g. A 100 g serving meets about 40–45% of the ICMR-NIN 2020 recommended daily allowance for adult men (80 mg/day) and about 50% for adult women (65 mg/day). Mangiferin, a polyphenol found in Alphonso pulp, showed anti-inflammatory activity in a cell study (Govindappa et al., 2011). We won't overstate what a fruit can do — eat it because it tastes extraordinary, not as a supplement.

How Does Alphonso Compare to Mangoes Available Locally in Jodhpur?

Rajasthan has its own mango tradition — Langda and Dashehari arrive from UP, and local varieties from Bharatpur and Sikar reach Jodhpur markets. Those are good table mangoes. Alphonso is different in one specific way: the Brix at full ripeness runs 18–24°, the fibre is almost absent, and the pulp-to-seed ratio is high. The GI tag (No. 139) means the name "Alphonso" or "Hapus" can only be used for fruit from Ratnagiri and Sindhudurg districts. What is sold as "Alphonso" at local Jodhpur markets often is not — it may be a similar-looking variety from another region. Ordering directly from a GI-authorised source removes that uncertainty.
