Buy NowBelgaum — officially Belagavi — sits at the northern edge of Karnataka, close to Kolhapur and the Konkan belt. That geography works in your favour: the distance from Ratnagiri to Belgaum is shorter than Mumbai to Delhi, which means a box dispatched on Monday morning typically lands by Tuesday or Wednesday.
We ship Alphonso mango in Belgaum through our standard online channel. The fruit travels from orchards in 55 villages across Ratnagiri and Sindhudurg districts, through our Malvan packing centre and Devgad packing point, into air-conditioned vehicles to Mumbai, and then out by courier to your door.

Delivery to Belgaum
Belgaum receives orders in 1–3 days from dispatch. We use BlueDart, Delhivery, Ekart or XpressBees depending on your pin code — the courier is selected automatically at checkout based on serviceability across our 15,000–17,000 serviceable pin codes across India.
Fruit leaves our orchards at 70–80% ripeness, firm enough for transit, and completes ripening within about three days of delivery. You do not need to refrigerate it immediately — leave it at room temperature and it will be ready to eat.
Every box is a 5-ply corrugated fibreboard (CFB) courier-grade carton, 130 gsm paper with alternating flute orientation. Each mango sits in a foam-net sleeve (flat width 50–55 mm) on a hay bed, in a 12-slot partition that takes the transit pressure so the fruit does not. Six air holes top and bottom allow airflow. We do not cut corners on packaging because Alphonso lenticels blacken when rubbed — even light skin friction during a 600 km road haul shows on arrival.
If fruit arrives damaged, photograph it within 24 hours of delivery and contact us. We replace 100%.
One honest limit: we do not ship fresh Alphonso from July to January. The season closes by June. Outside that window, check our catalogue for Aamras, mango pulp and other products.

Where the Fruit Comes From
We source from 55 named villages across Ratnagiri and Sindhudurg districts. In Devgad taluka alone, that includes Devgad, Jamsande, Vijaydurg, Dahibav, Girye, Kunkeshwar, Mithbav and 17 more villages — all sea-facing, with orchards typically 12–25 years old. In Ratnagiri taluka, we work orchards in Pawas, Golap, Nachane, Mavalange, Mirya and Kalbadevi, among others.
Prashant Powle founded AlphonsoMango.in in 2017 and built partnerships with 100+ farmer families selected on Brix consistency, tree longevity and alternate-bearing management. Cultivation follows strict SOPs covering which natural sprays and fertilisers are used from flowering to harvest.
Harvesting is done by hand using a Nutan/Zela pole fitted with a catching net and cutting mechanism. The tree is never shaken. Fruit never falls. For tall trees, we use an indigenously developed length-extending pole with a camera. From tree to the Ratnagiri or Devgad packhouse takes about two hours.
How We Ripen the Fruit
Natural hay-bed (Aadi) ripening only, in temperature-controlled rooms. No ethylene chambers, no calcium carbide, no artificial ripening agents of any kind. The 24–48 hours at the Mumbai packhouse is natural ripening on hay, monitored — not gas-triggered.
The full journey runs like this: harvest → 2 hours to our Ratnagiri or Devgad packhouse → post-harvest hot-water treatment and cooling → 10–12 hours by air-conditioned vehicle to Mumbai → 24–48 hours natural hay ripening → dispatch. That whole chain — harvest to dispatch — takes 48–72 hours.
Every fruit is weighed, graded, and scanned by AI/ML-assisted machine that checks for internal defects including spongy tissue and external deformities before packing. We test for pesticide residues weekly through the season at Envirocare Labs Pvt. Ltd., Thane — NABL accredited, certificate TC-8284. Their April 2025 report (certificate 01/ETHAP2500044, issued 5 April 2025) found all 28 residues within Codex maximum residue limits; 27 of 28 were below the limit of quantification (0.01 mg/kg). We say independently tested, all residues within Codex limits — not "pesticide-free."
GI Tag and Authenticity
Alphonso mango holds GI Tag No. 139 covering Ratnagiri and Sindhudurg districts. Powle Home Foods is a registered GI Authorised User: AU/5974/GI/139/260 for Ratnagiri, AU/6932 for Devgad. GI Registry Certificate No. 4163 was issued on 16 October 2019.
The Ratnagiri Alphonso won the Gold Medal at the national One District One Product (ODOP) Awards 2024 — that is a district-product award, not an award to our brand, but it confirms what our repeat customers already know. Our 46% repeat-customer rate and 4.35★ on Judge.me (verified buyer reviews on alphonsomango.in) do that job instead.
Prashant Powle was interviewed by The Economic Times in June 2026 as a GI-certified Alphonso grower and trader on weather and yield pressures on the season (read the article).
Season and Availability
The Alphonso season runs February to June. Peak quality — Brix 18–24°, full fragrance, deep saffron pulp — is March to May. By late June the season closes. We ship nothing fresh July to January.
Early-season fruit (February to early March) leans slightly tart, with Brix toward the lower end of that range. By April, Devgad fruit in particular reaches the upper end — closer to 24° Brix — and the saffron colour deepens noticeably. We assumed the two origins would be interchangeable all season; the grading table showed Devgad fruit running consistently richer from mid-April onward.
If you want to send mangoes as a corporate gift or for a celebration, plan orders between mid-March and end-May for the best fruit. We handled a multi-destination corporate dispatch across India for Messe Muenchen India Pvt. Ltd. in May 2026 — 1–2 dozen boxes per destination, coordinated from our Mumbai packhouse.
Nutrition
Ripe Alphonso pulp contains roughly 30–36 mg of vitamin C per 100 g. A 100 g serving meets about 40–45% of the ICMR-NIN 2020 recommended daily intake for adult men (80 mg/day) and about 50% for women (65 mg/day). These are ICMR-NIN 2020 figures — the older 40 mg/day figure is superseded.
Mangiferin, a compound found in mango pulp and peel, showed anti-inflammatory activity in cell studies (Govindappa et al., 2011). We do not make medical claims. The fruit is what it is: exceptionally sweet, low-fibre, saffron-coloured pulp, with a seed so thin you can eat almost the entire fruit. Babies can be introduced to Alphonso puree from about 6 months — as a serving suggestion, not medical advice.
Gir Kesar Mango in Belgaum
We also carry Gir Kesar mango, which holds GI Tag No. 185 covering Junagadh and Gir in Gujarat. Kesar has a rounder shape, brighter orange-yellow pulp, and a slightly less aromatic profile than Alphonso — but it is excellent fruit and available across a similar season window. Both Alphonso and Kesar are available in our mango collection for delivery to Belgaum.

हापुस आम and अल्फोंसो आम in Hindi
Hindi speakers in Belgaum search for हापुस आम (Hapus Aam) when they want the Konkan variety specifically. The GI tag applies to both names.
अल्फोन्सो मँगो & हापूस आंबा in Marathi

Gujarati traders in Belgaum's commercial districts call it Hapus Keiri. The Gujarati merchant community here has long imported Alphonso through Kolhapur for local sale; ordering directly online from us removes that middleman layer.

Belgaum's location near the Maharashtra border means the fruit travels less distance than a Delhi or Hyderabad order. That shorter transit is an advantage — the box arrives firmer, and you get a longer window to enjoy the fruit at home. Read our season guide to know exactly when to order by origin and grade.

GI-certified Ratnagiri or Devgad Alphonso ordered online typically ranges by box size — half dozen, 1 dozen or 2 dozen — with fruit graded Small (150–180 g) through Jumbo (275–300 g). Which Alphonso mango is best in India?
Both Ratnagiri and Devgad Alphonso carry GI Tag No. 139 and are widely regarded as India's finest mango varieties. Ratnagiri fruit tends to be bright and floral; Devgad fruit — grown in sea-facing orchards across Devgad taluka in Sindhudurg — runs richer and honey-forward, with Brix typically at the upper end of 18–24°.
Belgaum buyers order both — the best choice depends on whether you prefer a lighter, more tart profile or a deeper, sweeter one.
Which place is famous for Alphonso mangoes?
Ratnagiri and Devgad in coastal Maharashtra are the two places most closely associated with Alphonso mangoes. Both fall under GI Tag No. 139, which covers Ratnagiri and Sindhudurg districts. The laterite soil, sea breeze and distinct dry season of the Konkan coast produce flavour and aroma that Alphonso grown elsewhere cannot reliably replicate.
Devgad, in Sindhudurg, is particularly noted for honey-forward fruit from orchards that sit close to the Arabian Sea — many buyers consider it the benchmark.
Which mango is famous in Karnataka?
Badami is Karnataka's most celebrated mango variety, grown mainly in the northern districts — Bijapur, Bagalkot and areas close to Belgaum. It is sometimes called Karnataka's Alphonso for its rich sweetness, though the two varieties are distinct. Ratnagiri and Devgad Alphonso, grown across the border in coastal Maharashtra, are easily ordered online and reach Belgaum in 1–3 days.
