Both varieties below are GI-tagged, carbide-free and dispatched at 70–80% ripeness so they travel without bruising and ripen fully within about three days of delivery.
Ratnagiri vs Devgad: Which to Order?
Both carry GI Tag No. 139. The difference is terroir. Devgad fruit, grown in Sindhudurg's sea-facing belt — villages like Devgad, Jamsande and Vijaydurg — tends to sit at the upper end of the 18–24° Brix range and attracts a small premium. Ratnagiri fruit, from orchards in Pawas, Golap, Nachane and Mirya, has a slightly leaner profile with the same saffron-yellow skin. Our repeat-order data shows north India customers lean Ratnagiri; Mumbai customers lean Devgad.

Delivery to Bangalore
From harvest in a Ratnagiri village like Golap or Pawas, fruit reaches us within about two hours. After post-harvest cooling and 10–12 hours in an air-conditioned vehicle to Mumbai, it spends 24–48 hours on a natural hay bed at the Mumbai packhouse. Total harvest-to-dispatch: 48–72 hours. Orders placed before 12 noon IST (Monday to Saturday) are dispatched the same day. Delivery takes 1 to 3 days for most PIN codes and 1 to 2 days to most metros, depending on your PIN code. Fresh mangoes are delivered by Blue Dart to more than 4,700 PIN codes.
Fruit arrives at 70–80% ripeness, firm enough to survive the transit without bruising. Leave it at room temperature for about three days and it ripens to full sweetness. If fruit arrives damaged, photograph it and contact us within 24 hours — we replace 100%.
We do not sell fresh Alphonso between July and January. The trees carry no fruit then, and we will not substitute with cold-stored or out-of-season stock.
How to Order
- Select your grade: Choose Ratnagiri Alphonso (₹1,849 to ₹5,399) or Devgad Alphonso (₹1,849 to ₹5,499) and pick the weight grade — Small, Medium, Extra Large or Jumbo — that suits your budget and preference.
- Add to cart: Choose half dozen, 1 dozen or 2 dozen; the 5-ply corrugated box with foam-net sleeves and a hay bed is included at no extra cost.
- Dispatch: Orders placed before 12 noon IST (Monday to Saturday) are dispatched the same day. Delivery takes 1 to 3 days for most PIN codes and 1 to 2 days to most metros, depending on your PIN code. Fresh mangoes are delivered by Blue Dart to more than 4,700 PIN codes.
Where These Mangoes Come From
We source from 48 coastal villages of Ratnagiri and Devgad. In Ratnagiri taluka: Pawas, Golap, Nachane, Mavalange, Waravade, Purnagad, Gaonkhadi, Ambeshet, Mirya, Kalbadevi, Majgaon, Kasheli and Adi, among others. In Devgad taluka: Devgad, Jamsande, Vijaydurg, Dahibav, Hindale and Kunkeshwar, among others. These are sea-facing orchards, typically 12–25 years old. Prashant Powle selects each farmer family on three criteria: Brix consistency season over season, tree age and how they manage the alternate-bearing cycle. We work with 100+ partner farmer families.
How Fruit Leaves the Tree
The tree is never shaken. Fruit never falls. Every mango is hand-harvested using a Nutan or Zela pole fitted with a catching net and cutting mechanism. For taller trees we use an indigenously developed length-extending pole with a camera so the harvester can see exactly what they are cutting. A mango that falls to the ground bruises at the stem — that bruise accelerates decay and ruins the eating experience within days.
Grading and Machine Scanning
Every fruit is weighed and assigned a grade — Small, Medium, Extra Large or Jumbo. Then AI/ML-assisted machine scanning checks each mango for internal defects (spongy tissue is the main one) and external deformities before it enters the packing line. We assumed visual sorting alone was enough in our early seasons — the scanner proved otherwise, catching spongy-tissue fruit that looked perfect outside.
How They Are Ripened
No calcium carbide. No ethylene chambers. The 24–48 hours at the Mumbai packhouse is natural ripening on a hay bed (Aadi) in a temperature-controlled room, monitored, not gas-triggered. Carbide ripening makes the skin yellow but leaves the pulp sharp and fibrous — experienced mango buyers in Bangalore know the difference the moment they bite in.
Residue testing is done weekly through the season by Envirocare Labs Pvt. Ltd., Thane — NABL accredited (certificate TC-8284). Their April 2025 report (01/ETHAP2500044, issued 5 April 2025) tested 28 residues: 27 of 28 were below the limit of quantification (0.01 mg/kg); thiamethoxam was detected at 0.013 mg/kg against a Codex limit of 0.2 mg/kg. All residues within Codex maximum residue limits.
Season and Availability
The season runs February to June, with peak quality and volume from March to May. Early-season fruit (February) is smaller and Brix tends to sit near the lower end. By April the fruit is heavier, Brix is higher and the saffron colour is more pronounced. June fruit is good but the season shortens sharply by late June. Between July and January there are no fresh Alphonso mangoes to sell — anyone offering them in that window is not selling genuine Konkan Hapus.
Price of Ratnagiri Alphonso Mango in Bangalore
Ratnagiri Alphonso starts at ₹1,849 and goes to ₹5,399 depending on grade and box size. Devgad Alphonso starts at ₹1,849 and reaches ₹5,499. The price difference between grades reflects fruit weight: Jumbo (275–300 g) fruit costs more per dozen than Small (150–180 g) fruit because yield per tree in the Jumbo grade is lower and post-harvest losses are higher for larger fruit. Prices on the site are final and include packaging.
Nutrition
Ripe Alphonso pulp contains roughly 30–36 mg of vitamin C per 100 g. A 100 g serving meets about 40–45% of the ICMR-NIN 2020 recommended daily intake for adult men (80 mg/day) and about 50% for adult women (65 mg/day). Mangiferin, the polyphenol that gives Alphonso its characteristic bitterness note on the finish, showed anti-inflammatory activity in a cell study (Govindappa et al., 2011). That is a cell study, not a clinical trial — we state it for what it is.
Alphonso pulp is also suitable as a first fruit for babies from around six months as a serving suggestion, not medical advice — check with your paediatrician.

People Also Ask
What is the price of 1 kg of Ratnagiri mangoes?

Pricing varies by weight grade — Small (150–180 g), Medium (180–225 g), Extra Large (250–275 g) or Jumbo (275–300 g) — and by box size. Per-kilogram cost depends on which grade you choose.
Which mango is best in Bangalore?
Ratnagiri Alphonso, GI Tag No. 139, is widely regarded as the benchmark for sweetness and aroma among Bangalore buyers. Brix at full ripeness runs 18–24°, the pulp is fibre-free, and the saffron-yellow skin is unmistakable. Devgad Alphonso, from Sindhudurg's sea-facing belt, typically sits at the upper end of that Brix range and carries a small premium.
Why are Ratnagiri mangoes so expensive?
Ratnagiri Alphonso costs more because almost everything about producing it is slow and manual. Fruit is hand-harvested with a pole-and-net so it never falls or bruises. Every mango is weighed, graded and scanned by AI/ML-assisted machines for internal defects like spongy tissue. Natural hay-bed ripening replaces carbide, adding 24–48 hours at a monitored Mumbai packhouse before dispatch.
