Delivery Across India
We dispatch via BlueDart air cargo from Mumbai. Orders placed before 12:00 noon IST on a working day go out the same evening. Transit times by zone:
- NCR / Faridabad / Delhi: 1–2 days
- Punjab, Rajasthan, UP, Haryana: 1–2 days
- South India (Bengaluru, Chennai, Hyderabad): 1–2 days
- Northeast, remote hill stations: 2–3 days
Each box is packed with ventilated corrugated cardboard and a hay bed inside — the same natural ripening medium used in Konkan orchards since long before refrigerated trucks existed. The hay holds the fruit at the right angle, cushions impact, and lets ethylene breathe without building up. We do not use thermocol or plastic foam trays.
We do not ship internationally through the website. Export orders (US, UK, UAE, Singapore, Japan) are handled separately through our export enquiry page.

Where the Fruit Comes From
Our Alphonso fruit comes from villages spread across Ratnagiri and Devgad talukas in Konkan, Maharashtra. Devgad village produces fruit with a slightly thicker skin and a longer shelf life — useful when you're ordering from Faridabad and want 4–5 days of eating window after arrival. Ratnagiri fruit tends to ripen one to two days faster and carries the sharper saffron aroma that connoisseurs recognise immediately.
Prashant Powle selects source orchards personally each season. The lateral red-blush on a ripe Alphonso isn't cosmetic — it reflects the specific laterite soil and coastal humidity of the Konkan belt. Fruit grown 50 km inland, even in Maharashtra, doesn't develop it the same way.
What is the difference between Devgad and Ratnagiri Alphonso?
Both carry the same GI tag (GI No. 139). Devgad fruit averages slightly larger — 200–280 g per mango — and the skin stays firmer for an extra day. Ratnagiri fruit peaks at 20–23° Brix a day earlier and suits buyers who want to eat within 48 hours of delivery. Neither is "better"; they suit different eating schedules.
How to Spot a Real Alphonso
Faridabad's fruit markets sell mangoes labelled "Hapus" from April onward. Most aren't. Here's what separates real Konkan Alphonso from imitation:
- Skin colour: Uneven golden-yellow with a faint green shoulder, sometimes a pink-red blush on one cheek. Not uniform bright yellow — that's a carbide sign.
- Aroma: Floral and sharp even through the skin. If you can't smell it from 30 cm away, it wasn't allowed to ripen naturally.
- Texture at the stem end: Slightly soft when pressed at the neck. Firm everywhere else. Carbide-ripened fruit goes soft all over simultaneously.
- GI documentation: Ask the seller for GI authorisation. Ours is AU/5974/GI/139/260, issued 16 October 2019, Registry certificate 4163.
What is the Brix level of Devgad Alphonso mango?
A properly ripened Devgad Alphonso reads 18 to 24° Brix on a refractometer. Ratnagiri Alphonso at peak hits 21–23° Brix. Anything below 18° Brix is under-ripe or from a non-Konkan source. Kesar sits at 18–21° Brix — lower, but its distinct saffron character compensates for the reduced sugar intensity.
Natural Ripening — No Carbide
We ripen every box in hay beds. Mangoes are nested fruit-tip-down in dry paddy hay inside ventilated wooden crates. Ambient temperature does the rest over 36–48 hours. No calcium carbide, no ethylene injection chambers.
Carbide-ripened fruit arrives uniformly yellow and soft within 24 hours because the acetylene gas forces cell breakdown rather than natural sugar conversion. You can tell by the texture: the flesh turns fibrous and watery at the core while the skin looks perfect. Hay-ripened Alphonso stays firmer at the seed and converts starch to sugar evenly from the outside in.
FSSAI (licence 10020022011783) prohibits carbide ripening. We comply. We also go further — we don't use post-harvest wax coatings or fungicide dips, which is why our fruit must travel by air rather than surface freight.
Season, Storage and What Happens Off-Season
Alphonso season runs mid-March to late June. The first two weeks of April typically yield the best fruit — trees are fully loaded, weather hasn't yet turned humid, and Brix readings peak. By late June, the monsoon arrives and the remaining fruit softens too fast for reliable air dispatch.
We are honest about one thing: we do not sell fresh Alphonso mangoes between July and February. Anyone offering "fresh Hapus" in November is selling a different variety, possibly Totapuri or Banganapalli, under a misleading name. Year-round, we offer Alphonso mango pulp and Aamras, which are processed at peak season and sealed.
How long do Alphonso mangoes last after delivery?
Semi-ripe fruit (dispatched slightly firm) lasts 4–6 days at room temperature (22–28°C). If you refrigerate them before they're fully ripe, the ripening stalls and flavour suffers — keep them at room temperature until the neck softens, then eat within two days. Once cut, refrigerate and eat within 24 hours.
What is the current Alphonso mango price per dozen?
Our Ratnagiri Alphonso starts at ₹1,849 for a small box and goes to ₹5,399 for premium grade larger quantities. Kesar mangoes start at ₹999. Prices vary by grade, size band, and the week within the season — early April fruit commands a premium because supply is still building. We publish live prices on each product page.
