Hapus aam price per kg: why we quote dozens instead
Many people search for a 1 kg Hapus aam price. We do not quote one, and here is the honest reason. Alphonso fruits generally weigh 150 to 300 g, so a kilo can be four large mangoes or six small ones. Hapus has always been traded by the dozen because the buyer wants to know the count and the size, and a dozen of one grade is a consistent thing. A dozen weighs roughly 1.8 to 3.3 kg depending on grade; dividing the price by that weight would average away the grade difference that is the whole point of the price.

If you need to compare our price with a per-kilo quote from a market stall, ask that seller how many fruit make a kilo and what each weighs, then compare like with like: a dozen of a given fruit weight. Our page on how many mangoes in 1 kg walks through the arithmetic, and aam ki peti price covers the traditional box.
What moves the Alphonso mango price
- Fruit grade. Our boxes are graded by fruit weight, from about 150 to 180 g per fruit up to 275 to 300 g. The count stays twelve; the box weight and the price rise with the grade. This is the biggest single factor on our pages.
- Box size. Two dozen in one box costs less per dozen than two separate dozens, and five dozen less again, partly because the courier charge is spread over more fruit.
- Origin. Ratnagiri is a district; Devgad is a taluka in Sindhudurg district. Both grow the same variety under GI No. 139, and we price both from Rs 1,849 per dozen. We do not rank one above the other.
- The season. Alphonso is harvested about February to June, with the best supply from March to May. Supply, and with it the market, shifts through those months; our product page shows the live price at any time.
- What is behind the fruit. Hand harvesting with a zela pole fitted with a catching net, grading, natural ripening and a courier box all sit inside the dozen price.
We do not use carbide. Our Alphonso mangoes are ripened naturally on hay beds. Calcium carbide is prohibited for ripening fruit in India under Regulation 2.3.5 of the Food Safety and Standards (Prohibition and Restrictions on Sales) Regulations, 2011; we are an FSSAI-licensed seller. When you compare prices, ask each seller how the fruit was ripened and whether they hold an Authorised User certificate under GI No. 139; a cheaper box without answers to those questions is not a bargain.
Which Alphonso box gives the best value
For eating out of hand, the smallest grade gives the same Alphonso flavour in more, smaller pieces, and it is the cheapest way to eat Hapus daily. For aamras, the pulp is what counts, so the smallest grade again. For gifting, most buyers pick the larger grades because each fruit looks generous. For a season of daily mangoes, the two-dozen and five-dozen boxes bring the per-dozen cost down; see season pass page for how repeat deliveries work.
Outside the season, the price question answers itself: we do not sell fresh Alphonso from July to January, and no genuine seller has Konkan Alphonso in those months. The Alphonso pulp tin, 850 g from Rs 590 and 3.1 kg at Rs 2,100, is the product to buy then; our mango pulp price page explains it. The 2027 season opens on 1 February 2027.

What is the 1 kg Hapus aam price?
We do not quote a per-kg price, because Alphonso fruits weigh 150 to 300 g and a kilo can be four large or six small mangoes. Hapus is sold by the dozen so you know the count and the grade. Our dozens start from Rs 1,849 and weigh roughly 1.8 to 3.3 kg depending on grade.
Why is Alphonso mango so expensive?
It is a short-season fruit from one coast, hand-harvested, graded by weight and ripened naturally over about 15 days from harvest. The dozen price covers that handling, the box and the courier. Larger grades cost more because each fruit is bigger; the smallest grade gives the same flavour at the lowest price.
Is Devgad Alphonso more expensive than Ratnagiri Alphonso?
Not with us. Both are the same variety, Alphonso, grown under GI No. 139 on the Konkan coast, and both start from Rs 1,849 per dozen with the same grade bands. Ratnagiri is a district and Devgad is a taluka in Sindhudurg district; we do not rank one above the other.
What is the price of Alphonso mango pulp?
Our Alphonso mango pulp tin is listed at Rs 590 for 850 g and Rs 2,100 for 3.1 kg, and it is available all year, unlike fresh Alphonso, which is sold only in the February to June season. It suits aamras, milkshakes and desserts when fresh fruit is not on sale.
