Delivery Across India
Fruit travels 2 hours from the orchard to our Ratnagiri or Devgad packhouse. Then it moves by air-conditioned vehicle — 10 to 12 hours — to the Mumbai packhouse, where 24 to 48 hours of natural hay-bed ripening happens before dispatch. Total harvest-to-dispatch: 48 to 72 hours.
Orders placed before 12 noon IST (Monday to Saturday) are dispatched the same day. Delivery takes 1 to 3 days for most PIN codes and 1 to 2 days to most metros, depending on your PIN code. Fresh mangoes are delivered by Blue Dart to more than 4,700 PIN codes.
Each box is a top-and-bottom 5-ply corrugated fibreboard (CFB) box, 130 gsm, with a 12-slot partition that bears transit pressure instead of the fruit. Every mango sits in a foam-net sleeve — flat width 50 to 55 mm — on a hay/straw bed. Six air holes top and bottom keep airflow going during the final stage of natural ripening inside the box.
Damage replacement: 100% with photo evidence within 24 hours of delivery.
How to Order
The 2027 mango season starts on 1 February 2027, and fresh mangoes are out of stock until then.
- Step 1 — Select Grade: Choose Ratnagiri Alphonso (₹1,849 to ₹5,399) or Devgad Alphonso (₹1,849 to ₹5,499); pick the weight grade — Small, Medium, Extra Large or Jumbo — that suits your budget and the number of pieces you want.
- Step 2 — Add to Cart: Box options are half dozen and full dozen (and 2 dozen where listed); if you need roughly 9 mangoes, a full dozen gives a small buffer for gifting or tasting.
- Step 3 — Dispatch: Orders placed before 12 noon IST (Monday to Saturday) are dispatched the same day. Delivery takes 1 to 3 days for most PIN codes and 1 to 2 days to most metros, depending on your PIN code. Fresh mangoes are delivered by Blue Dart to more than 4,700 PIN codes.
Where These Mangoes Come From
Prashant Powle built the sourcing network village by village. We now work with 100+ partner farmer families across 48 coastal villages of Ratnagiri and Devgad. The orchards are sea-facing, typically 12 to 25 years old, and selected on Brix consistency, tree longevity and alternate-bearing management.
In Ratnagiri taluka, that means villages like Pawas, Golap, Nachane, Mavalange and Mirya. In Devgad taluka, Jamsande, Vijaydurg, Dahibav, Hindale and Kunkeshwar are among the key sources. Packing happens at our Malvan packing centre and Devgad packing point before the consignment moves to Mumbai.
Harvest itself is careful: a Nutan/Zela pole with a catching net and cutting mechanism. The tree is never shaken. Fruit never falls. For tall trees, an indigenously developed length-extending pole fitted with a camera lets the harvester see and cut without climbing. This matters because Alphonso lenticels blacken when bruised — a fallen fruit is a damaged fruit.
Cultivation follows strict SOPs specifying which natural sprays and fertilisers are used from flowering to harvest. Carbide and pesticide-residue testing runs weekly through the season at Envirocare Labs Pvt. Ltd., Thane — NABL accredited, certificate TC-8284. The April 2025 report (01/ETHAP2500044, issued 5 April 2025) found all 28 tested residues within Codex maximum residue limits; 27 of 28 were below the limit of quantification at 0.01 mg/kg. One trace residue — thiamethoxam at 0.013 mg/kg against a Codex limit of 0.2 mg/kg — was detected and is well within the permitted level. We say independently tested, all residues within Codex limits. We do not say pesticide-free.
How We Ripen the Fruit
Natural hay-bed (Aadi) ripening only, in temperature-controlled rooms. No ethylene chambers. No calcium carbide. No artificial ripening agents of any kind. The 24 to 48 hours at the Mumbai packhouse is monitored ripening on hay — not gas-triggered.
Fruit leaves us at 70 to 80% ripeness, firm enough to survive the courier journey. It finishes ripening within about three days of delivery, at room temperature in your kitchen. That window is intentional, not a defect.
Before packing, every fruit passes through AI/ML-assisted machine scanning that checks for internal issues (spongy tissue) and external deformities. Every fruit is also weighed and graded. A hot-water treatment after harvest reduces surface issues and extends shelf life. Post-harvest cooling at the packhouse happens before the air-conditioned vehicle moves the consignment to Mumbai.
The foam-net sleeve is not just padding. It prevents latex cross-contamination between fruits, moisture build-up, condensation (which can trigger anthracnose), side bruising and stem punctures. The diamond mesh keeps airflow so any condensation evaporates. It is a small detail that changes how the fruit arrives.
Nutrition You Can Cite
Ripe Alphonso pulp contains roughly 30 to 36 mg of vitamin C per 100 g. A 100 g serving meets about 40 to 45% of the ICMR-NIN 2020 recommended daily allowance for adult men (80 mg/day) and about 50% for adult women (65 mg/day). These are ICMR-NIN 2020 figures — the older 40 mg/day figure from 2010 is superseded and we do not use it.
Mangiferin, a compound present in mango, showed anti-inflammatory activity in a cell study (Govindappa et al., 2011). That is one cell study, not a clinical recommendation. We state it as what it is.
A 100 g portion — roughly one medium Alphonso fruit — is a practical serving. Nine mangoes at Medium grade (180–225 g each) give you approximately 1.6 to 2 kg of fruit, useful if you are planning recipes or Aamras for a family meal.
Season, Availability and Honest Limits
The Alphonso season runs February to June (the 2027 season starts on 1 February 2027), with peak supply in March, April and May. Outside that window — July through January — we do not sell fresh Alphonso. The product pages will show out of stock. That is accurate, not a website error.
We export to the US, UK, UAE, Singapore and Japan during the season. Fresh mangoes are delivered by Blue Dart to more than 4,700 PIN codes. If your pin code is not serviceable, the checkout will say so.
HoReCa and corporate orders start from 5 dozen (about 15 to 20 kg) and can be dispatched to multiple addresses. In May 2026 we handled a multi-destination corporate dispatch across India. Enquire via the contact page for bulk and gift requirements above 5 dozen.
Ratnagiri Alphonso won the Gold Medal at the national One District One Product (ODOP) Awards 2024. That is a district-product award recognising Ratnagiri as a producing region — not an award to AlphonsoMango.in specifically, and we say so plainly.
Prashant Powle was interviewed by The Economic Times in June 2026 on weather, yield and the pressures facing GI-certified Alphonso growers (read the article). The season is genuinely volatile — weather in the Konkan belt can cut supply by 30 to 40% in a bad year. Ordering early in the season is not marketing advice; it is practical.

People Also Ask
How much is 1 mango?
A single GI-tagged Alphonso mango from Ratnagiri or Devgad costs roughly ₹154 to ₹450 per fruit, depending on grade and box size. A half-dozen box starts at ₹1,849 and a full dozen goes up to ₹5,499 for Jumbo-grade Devgad Alphonso during the February-to-June season.
If you want around 9 mangoes, a full-dozen box in Medium or XL grade gives a small buffer — every fruit is individually weighed and graded before it leaves our Malvan or Devgad packing centre.
Why not eat mango at night?
Eating mango at night is not harmful for most people, but the natural sugars — concentrated to 18–24° Brix in a ripe Alphonso — can raise blood glucose quickly, which some people find disruptive before sleep. Those managing diabetes or weight are often advised to eat fruit earlier in the day when activity helps metabolise the sugars.
A practical middle ground: eat one medium Alphonso as an afternoon snack rather than after dinner, so you still get the roughly 30–36 mg of vitamin C per 100 g without the late-evening sugar spike.
What is a group of mangoes called?
There is no single standard collective noun for a group of mangoes in English. Growers and traders in Konkan use practical count terms: a dozen, a half-dozen, or a peti (crate). In Hindi, a box of mangoes is commonly called a peti and a single fruit is referred to as one aam, never part of a named collective.
For gifting purposes, 9 mangoes is three-quarters of a dozen — not a standard trade unit, which is why a full-dozen box is the closest practical option when you want approximately that quantity.
Is it healthy to eat 2 mangoes a day?
Two medium Alphonso mangoes — around 200 g of pulp total — deliver roughly 60–72 mg of vitamin C, meeting most or all of the ICMR-NIN 2020 RDA in one sitting. That is a reasonable daily amount for a healthy adult during the short February-to-June season, provided overall sugar intake from other foods is not already high.
People managing diabetes, insulin resistance or high triglycerides should check with a doctor, since two ripe Alphonsos at 18–24° Brix add meaningful natural sugar to the day's total.
