Mumbai is where we are based, so this is the number our own customers ask about first. The figures below are the "from" prices on our store, and they can change, so treat them as a guide and check the product page for the price before you order.

Pairi mango Rs 2,799 for 1 dozen Another variety, sold by the dozen.
Alphonso Mango Pulp Tin From Rs 590 850 g and 3.1 kg tins, available all year.

Fresh Alphonso is not sold outside the season. The 2027 season opens on 1 February 2027, and until then the fresh-mango listings show as unavailable, while Alphonso pulp tins stay available all year. A dozen weighs roughly 1.8 to 3.3 kg depending on grade, which is the single most important number to hold in mind when you compare prices.

What sets the price of a dozen

  • Grade and fruit size. Larger fruit makes a heavier dozen, and that is the main reason the same product page shows a wide price range.
  • Pack size. Some listings are single dozens and others are larger packs. Read the pack description before comparing.
  • Variety. Alphonso, Kesar and Pairi are priced differently. Do not compare an Alphonso dozen with a Kesar box as if they were the same product.
  • Hand harvesting and handling. Our fruit is hand-harvested with a zela pole fitted with a catching net, and all Alphonso is harvested at Brahma Muhurta, the pre-dawn hours.
  • A short season. Fresh Alphonso is harvested about February to June, with the best supply from March to May.

Ratnagiri and Devgad are both Alphonso from the Konkan coast. We do not rank one above the other and we do not price on a story about either. If you want the background, read why Alphonso mango is costly.

How to compare two quotes

Mumbai buyers hear many numbers during the season. Two quotes are only comparable if the fruit is. Ask every seller the same questions and write the answers side by side.

  1. What is the weight of the dozen? Since a dozen can weigh anywhere from roughly 1.8 to 3.3 kg depending on grade, a lower price may simply mean a lighter dozen.
  2. Which grade or fruit size is it? Ask for the grade by name.
  3. How was it ripened? Calcium carbide is prohibited for ripening fruit in India. A seller should answer plainly.
  4. Where is it from? Ask for the district or taluka, and for a GI Authorised User certificate number if they claim GI Alphonso.
  5. What does delivery cost, and who delivers? A low dozen price can hide a high delivery charge.

Here is why weight matters so much. A dozen at the light end of the range, roughly 1.8 kg, holds only a little more than half the fruit of a dozen at the heavy end, roughly 3.3 kg. Two sellers can both say "one dozen" and be selling very different amounts of mango, so the weight is the first thing to ask.

If you want to spend less

There are honest ways to bring the bill down without buying something you will regret. Choose a smaller grade within the dozen range, which starts from Rs 1,849. Pick the Kesar mango, which starts from Rs 999 per box and is a different variety with its own character. Or use the pulp tin for aamras and shakes, from Rs 590. Each of these is a different product, and we describe them as such.

When to buy Alphonso in Mumbai

Fresh Alphonso is harvested about February to June, with the best supply from March to May. We do not publish a price curve, because we do not hold a verified one, and we will not guess at one. What we can say is that choice is widest when supply is best, and that the product page always shows the current price.

Outside the season, the Alphonso Mango Pulp Tin gives you the flavour all year in 850 g and 3.1 kg tins, from Rs 590. Tinned pulp may contain added sugar, so check the label.

What your money should buy

People also ask

How much do Alphonso mangoes cost in Mumbai?

On AlphonsoMango.in, Alphonso starts from Rs 1,849 per dozen and goes up to Rs 5,399 for the largest Ratnagiri option. The price depends on grade and size, and a dozen weighs roughly 1.8 to 3.3 kg. Prices can change, so check the product page for the price.

Why are Alphonso mangoes so expensive?

Several things add up: a short harvest season of about February to June, hand harvesting, careful handling, and grade and size. A bigger dozen weighs more and costs more. Compare weight and grade rather than the headline price, and ask any seller how the fruit was ripened.

Is Alphonso mango cheaper in Mumbai?

We cannot say that honestly. We do not track other sellers or markets, and prices depend on grade, size and season. The fair way to compare is to ask each seller for the dozen weight, the grade, the origin and the delivery charge, then compare like with like.

What is the best time to buy Alphonso mangoes in Mumbai?

Fresh Alphonso is harvested about February to June, with the best supply from March to May, so choice is widest then. The 2027 season opens on 1 February 2027. If you want the flavour outside the season, Alphonso pulp tins are available all year.

Which mango is famous in Mumbai?

The Alphonso, called Hapus in Marathi, is the mango most associated with Mumbai and Maharashtra. It comes from the Konkan coast, in the Ratnagiri and Devgad belt. Mumbai families often buy it by the dozen and serve it fresh or as aamras with puri.
