What Alphonso is called in Telugu and Marathi
The Telugu word for mango is మామిడి (mamidi). Alphonso is the name of a particular variety, so it is generally referred to by that name rather than by a separate Telugu word. In Marathi and in the Konkan it is called Hapus, also written Hapoos or Hapus aam. All of these refer to the same fruit.

Brix range and quality testing
Brix range. Ripe Alphonso is typically in the Brix 18 to 24 range, with Devgad fruit typically at the upper end (range stated by Powle Home Foods; Brix varies by lot, fruit and ripeness, so ask for the figure on the lot you are considering).
Testing. Powle Home Foods schedules weekly carbide and pesticide-residue testing from the 2027 season. The one third-party report published so far is from Envirocare Labs (NABL accredited), dated 5 April 2025, on an Alphonso sample from an export consignment: all 28 residues tested were within Codex limits. That report applies to that sample only; it is not a guarantee for other batches. Ask on WhatsApp which test records exist for the lot you are considering.
