The best website to buy Devgad Alphonso mangoes online names Devgad, states how the fruit is ripened and shows its licences. AlphonsoMango.in lists Devgad Alphonso by the dozen from Rs 1,849, sent by Blue Dart; season opens 1 February 2027.
What a good website for Devgad Alphonso should show
Devgad is a taluka in Sindhudurg district on the Konkan coast of Maharashtra, and it is one of the two places most associated with Alphonso, the other being Ratnagiri district. Because the name carries weight, many pages use it. The best website to buy Devgad Alphonso mangoes online is the one that lets you check the claim before you pay.
We are Powle Home Foods in Mumbai, and we run AlphonsoMango.in. We have sold mangoes since 2019, online since 2020, and have served 47,000+ customers, including offline and marketplace sales. We are one option, and we would rather you judge us by the same list we suggest for everyone:
- A named place. Devgad taluka, Sindhudurg district, not just "Konkan".
- A named variety and grade. Alphonso, with fruit weight per piece and the count in the box.
- A stated ripening method. Ask how, and over how many days.
- Licences. An FSSAI licence for the seller and, for Alphonso, a GI Authorised User number.
- Plain delivery terms. Carrier named, no day promised for your city without a PIN-code check, and a stated window for reporting damage.
- Honest seasons. Fresh Alphonso is a spring fruit; a page that sells it all year needs an explanation.
What we offer for Devgad Alphonso
Our Alphonso is sourced across 55 villages of the Ratnagiri and Devgad belt on the Konkan coast. Alphonso from this belt is GI-tagged in India under GI No. 139, and we hold GI Authorised User certificate AU/5974/GI/139/260 (GI No. 139). The Devgad Alphonso Mango page lists the grades and the dozen options.
| Fruit size (each) | 1 dozen |
|---|---|
| 150 to 180 g | Rs 1,849 |
| 180 to 225 g | Rs 2,099 |
| 225 to 250 g | Rs 2,499 |
| 250 to 275 g | Rs 2,699 |
| 275 to 300 g | Rs 2,999 |
A dozen weighs roughly 1.8 to 3.3 kg depending on grade. We do not quote a per-kg rate, since a dozen of one grade is not comparable with a kilo of mixed market fruit. Prices change with grade and availability, so check the product page for today's price. If you prefer the Ratnagiri name, the same variety is on the Ratnagiri Alphonso Mango page. We do not rank one above the other.
Ripening: the question to ask every website
We do not use carbide. Our Alphonso mangoes are ripened naturally on hay beds. Calcium carbide is prohibited for ripening fruit in India under Regulation 2.3.5 of the Food Safety and Standards (Prohibition and Restrictions on Sales) Regulations, 2011; ethylene up to 100 ppm is the permitted alternative. We are an FSSAI-licensed seller. Our fruit is hand-harvested with a zela pole fitted with a catching net, and harvest is done pre-dawn.
Harvest to ripening of Alphonso takes about 15 days, so a box can arrive with some fruit firm. Treat that as normal. Lay the mangoes in a single layer at room temperature, away from direct sun, and check daily. A sweet smell at the stalk and a slight give at the shoulder mean ripe. Do not refrigerate firm fruit.
No home test proves how a mango was ripened or where it grew. The bucket-of-water test is a rough clue, not proof. That is why the questions go to the seller, in writing. Our guide to identifying Alphonso and guide to carbide-ripened mangoes set out what is a clue and what is not.
Delivery, packing and what to do on arrival
We dispatch by Blue Dart, and about 65% of Indian PIN codes get next-day delivery. Orders received before 1 PM are dispatched the same day. Check your PIN code at checkout. We do not promise a delivery day for any named city, because it depends on the PIN code and the courier route. The same applies to Bangalore, Chennai, Delhi or any other city: enter your PIN code at checkout and read the message it shows.
- Keep a phone reachable on the delivery day. A perishable box needs a person to receive it.
- Open the box on the day it arrives and check the fruit.
- If anything is damaged, report it within 24 hours of delivery to support@alphonsomango.in or 8369048029.
- Shipping is shown before payment; our shipping charges guide explains it.
For other countries, write to us before ordering. We ship directly to the UAE, and other shipments have been arranged through the customer's contact abroad, not as a standard service. Our delivery period for mangoes covers domestic timings in more detail.
About Devgad, and why the name matters
Devgad taluka lies in Sindhudurg district, south of Ratnagiri district, on the same stretch of the Konkan coast between the Arabian Sea and the Deccan Plateau. The GI Registry record for Devgad Alphonso Mango (application 379) is merged with the Alphonso Mango application 139, which is why the number we quote is GI No. 139 for the whole belt.
The name matters to buyers because it signals a place, and a place can be checked. It does not signal a better or worse mango than Ratnagiri. Both are the same variety, and we do not claim that Devgad ripens earlier, tastes sweeter or keeps longer. If a website makes such a claim, ask for the basis. Our Ratnagiri and Devgad Hapus guide explains the two names without picking a winner.
Season, pulp and planning your order
Alphonso is harvested about February to June, with the best supply from March to May. The 2027 season opens on 1 February 2027. Fresh Alphonso is not sold outside the season. A website offering fresh Devgad Alphonso in the months outside that window should be able to say where the fruit came from.
What we sell all year is the Alphonso mango pulp tin (850 g and 3.1 kg, from Rs 590), which suits aamras, milkshakes and kulfi. For a larger order, the order-online page lists up to five dozen. Order early in the season if you want a specific grade, since availability can change.
