A mango facial uses ripe Alphonso pulp — naturally rich in vitamin C and mangiferin — to hydrate, brighten and exfoliate skin. Apply 1–2 times a week during the March-to-June season (GI No. 139, Brix 18–24°) for best results.

The fruit you eat and the fruit you apply to your face are the same fruit. That is worth saying plainly, because the Alphonso pulp that delivers a Brix of 18–24° on the palate carries the same vitamin C and mangiferin concentration to your skin. Carbide-ripened mangoes do not give you the same pulp quality — the chemistry is different. Ours are ripened naturally on a hay bed (the traditional Aadi method) in temperature-controlled rooms at our Mumbai packhouse. No ethylene chambers, no calcium carbide.
Order directly from our mango collection — half-dozen, 1-dozen or 2-dozen boxes, dispatched 48–72 hours from harvest.

Devgad fruit from villages like Jamsande and Kunkeshwar tends to sit at the upper Brix range. That higher natural sugar level makes the pulp creamier — useful when you are making a massage cream where you want the mixture to sit on skin without running. For the scrub stage, Ratnagiri pulp from Pawas or Golap works equally well and is often more available early in the season.
Delivery Across India
Fruit travels from the orchard to our Ratnagiri or Devgad packhouse in about 2 hours. From there it moves to our Mumbai packhouse in air-conditioned vehicles (10–12 hours). After 24–48 hours of natural hay-bed ripening, it dispatches. Total harvest-to-dispatch: 48–72 hours.
Transit to metro cities runs 20–24 hours. Most other Indian cities receive their box in 1–3 days. We service 15,000–17,000 pin codes via BlueDart, Delhivery, Ekart or XpressBees depending on your pin code.
Packaging: a 5-ply corrugated fibreboard box with a 12-slot partition that absorbs transit pressure so the fruit does not. Every mango sits in a foam-net sleeve (flat width 50–55 mm) on a hay bed. The sleeve prevents the lenticel bruising that turns Alphonso skin black when fruit rubs together in transit. Six air holes top and bottom keep airflow going so condensation evaporates rather than triggering surface mould.
Honest limitation: fresh Alphonso is not available July to January. The season ends in June. If you are reading this outside that window, plan ahead and pre-order for the following March.
How to Order
- Step 1 — Select grade. Visit alphonsomango.in/collections/mangoes and choose Ratnagiri or Devgad Alphonso in the size that suits you: Small (150–180 g), Medium (180–225 g), Extra Large (250–275 g) or Jumbo (275–300 g). Half-dozen, 1-dozen and 2-dozen box options are available on the product page.
- Step 2 — Add to cart. Select your box size, confirm your delivery pin code, and place your order. For corporate or bulk orders of 5 dozen and above, use the HoReCa enquiry form on the site.
- Step 3 — Dispatch. Your order goes out via BlueDart, Delhivery, Ekart or XpressBees depending on your pin code and reaches most Indian cities in 1–3 days. Fruit arrives at 70–80% ripeness and finishes ripening naturally within about three days of delivery — ideal timing if you are planning a mango facial later that week.
Why Alphonso Pulp Works on Skin
Ripe Alphonso pulp contains roughly 30–36 mg of vitamin C per 100 g — about 40–45% of the ICMR-NIN 2020 RDA for adult men, and about 50% for adult women. When applied topically, vitamin C is a known collagen-support agent, though the absorption rate through skin differs from dietary intake. Do not expect overnight results; the benefit is cumulative with regular use.
Mangiferin, the xanthone C-glycoside found in mango pulp, showed anti-inflammatory activity in a 2011 cell study by Govindappa et al. That is a cell study, not a clinical trial on human skin, so keep the claim proportionate. What is observable from our end: customers who use fresh Alphonso pulp directly on skin consistently report reduced summer tanning, softer texture and less dullness after four to six weeks of weekly use.
Mango pulp also contains beta-carotene (provitamin A), which the skin uses for surface cell turnover. The Alphonso variety's deep saffron colour is a visible marker of that beta-carotene concentration — Devgad fruit at full Brix is visibly more golden than a mediocre Alphonso sold at a street stall.
One important note on carbide: calcium carbide-ripened mangoes have been shown to produce surface residues from the ripening gas. We test weekly at Envirocare Labs Pvt. Ltd., Thane (NABL-accredited, certificate TC-8284; report 01/ETHAP2500044 issued 5 April 2025 — all 28 residues within Codex maximum residue limits). We do not claim "carbide-free certified by lab" because the test panel does not include calcium carbide — but our ripening process uses only hay beds, monitored, no gas of any kind. That distinction matters when you are pressing pulp against your face.
Stage 1: Cleanser
Wash your face and neck first with plain water. Then take one tablespoon of fresh Alphonso pulp — Medium-grade fruit (180–225 g) gives enough pulp for a full face application without waste. Massage gently across your face and neck for two minutes. Leave for 5–10 minutes. Rinse with cold water, then wipe with cold milk on a cotton pad to remove any remaining residue.
The pulp enzymes begin softening surface dead-skin cells in that window. The natural AHA-like acids in ripe mango pulp (citric and malic acid) do some of the same work that expensive toners claim to do. You are using the same fruit Prashant Powle grades by weight and Brix at the Devgad packhouse — not a diluted extract in a plastic tube.
Stage 2: Scrub
Ingredients:
- 4 tablespoons Alphonso mango pulp
- 3 tablespoons rolled oats
- 2 tablespoons powdered almonds
- 1 tablespoon fresh cream
Mix thoroughly. Apply to face and neck, then rub gently in small circular movements for 60–90 seconds. Leave for 20 minutes. Rinse with cold water.
The oats provide physical exfoliation. The almonds add a second layer of mild abrasion and bring their own vitamin E. The cream softens the overall texture so the scrub does not drag on dry skin. This combination works particularly well on oily or combination skin where the mango's natural acids cut through sebum buildup without over-drying.
Stage 3: Massage Cream
Aam and banana massage cream ingredients:
- 2 tablespoons Alphonso mango pulp
- Half a ripe banana, mashed
- 1 tablespoon honey
- 1 teaspoon almond oil
Blend until smooth. Apply a thin layer to your face and neck. Massage with upward strokes for 3–5 minutes, then leave for 15 minutes. Rinse with lukewarm water followed by cold water to close pores.
Devgad Alphonso pulp at 22–24° Brix holds its consistency better in this blend — lower-Brix fruit can turn the mix too runny to massage effectively. The honey acts as a humectant, drawing moisture into the skin surface while you work the cream in. Banana contributes potassium and B6, which support skin elasticity.
Stage 4: Face Pack
Mango face pack ingredients:
- 3 tablespoons Alphonso mango pulp
- 1 tablespoon fuller's earth (multani mitti)
- 1 teaspoon rose water
- 1 teaspoon raw honey
Mix to a smooth paste. Apply evenly across your face and neck, avoiding the eye area. Leave for 20–25 minutes until the pack dries partially. Rinse with cool water and pat dry.
Fuller's earth draws out impurities and excess oil. The mango pulp counterbalances any over-drying effect, keeping the skin hydrated rather than taut. Rose water provides a mild toning action. Use this pack once a week for tanning and pigmentation; twice a week for oily skin prone to summer breakouts.
What skin types benefit most from a mango facial?
Oily and combination skin types benefit most, because the acids in mango pulp regulate sebum without stripping the skin. Dry skin types can use the massage cream step more liberally and reduce the face-pack drying time to 10 minutes. Sensitive skin: patch-test on your wrist 24 hours before a full application.
Can I use mango pulp on my face daily?
Daily use of the cleanser step is fine for most skin types. The scrub and face-pack steps, which include physical exfoliants and fuller's earth, should stay at 1–2 times a week. Over-exfoliation disrupts the skin barrier regardless of how natural the ingredients are.
Practical Tips Before You Start
Use ripe fruit, not fully soft fruit. Alphonso dispatched from our packhouse arrives at 70–80% ripeness and finishes within about three days at room temperature. That three-day window — when the fruit is fully yielding and aromatic — is the best time for facial use. Earlier, the pulp is too firm and acidic. Later, it can be over-fermented.
Do not refrigerate the pulp you intend to use topically. Cold pulp contracts on warm skin and does not spread evenly. Let it come to room temperature first.
Store unused pulp in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 24 hours. Beyond that, oxidation changes the chemistry and the colour. Fresh is always better for both eating and skin use.
Fresh Alphonso is only available February to June. If you want to do a mango facial outside that window, our mango puree guide explains how to preserve pulp correctly, and our Hapoos Aam guide covers seasonal buying strategy in detail.

People Also Ask
What are the side effects of mango peel?
Mango peel contains urushiol, the same compound found in poison ivy, which can trigger contact dermatitis in sensitive skin — redness, itching or small blisters around the mouth and cheeks. The reaction is more common with unripe or carbide-ripened fruit. For a mango facial, use only the pulp, not the peel.
What are the benefits of a mango spa treatment?
A mango spa treatment delivers vitamin C, beta-carotene and mangiferin to the skin in one session. Vitamin C supports collagen. Beta-carotene aids surface cell turnover. Mangiferin showed anti-inflammatory activity in a 2011 cell study by Govindappa et al. Regular weekly sessions through the March-to-June season suit Indian summer skin best.
Is mango good for your face skin?
Yes. Ripe Alphonso pulp contains roughly 30–36 mg of vitamin C per 100 g — about 40–45% of the ICMR-NIN 2020 RDA for adult men. Topical vitamin C supports collagen and brightness. Beta-carotene helps surface cell turnover. Results are cumulative; expect visible softening and less dullness after four to six weeks of weekly use.
Which facial is best for glow?
A fresh Alphonso pulp facial applied once a week during the March-to-June season works well for summer glow. The vitamin C in the pulp targets dullness, the beta-carotene supports cell turnover, and the natural sugars in high-Brix Devgad fruit help the face pack hold moisture. Four to six sessions show clear results.
