Prashant Powle sources Ratnagiri fruit from villages including Pawas, Golap, Nachane and Mirya in Ratnagiri taluka, and from Anjarle, Velas and Kelshi further south. Devgad fruit comes from villages such as Jamsande, Vijaydurg, Girye and Kunkeshwar in Sindhudurg. The sea-facing aspect of these orchards — many 12–25 years old — is why the Brix stays consistently in the upper half of that 18–24° range as the season peaks in April.

The 5-ply corrugated fibreboard box (130 gsm, alternate flute orientation) has 12 internal partitions that absorb transit pressure so the fruit does not. Every mango sits in a foam-net sleeve — flat width 50–55 mm — on a hay bed, with six air holes top and bottom to let the ripening continue safely inside the box. This matters for Alphonso specifically: the lenticels (those small dots on the skin) blacken when rubbed, so preventing skin friction during transit is not optional.

We work with 100+ partner farmer families across 48 villages in Ratnagiri and Sindhudurg districts. Cultivation follows strict SOPs covering which natural sprays and fertilisers are used from flowering to harvest. Orchards are sea-facing, typically 12–25 years old, selected by Prashant Powle on three criteria: Brix consistency across seasons, tree longevity, and how the farmers manage alternate-bearing years.

We have our packing centre in Malvan and a packing point in Devgad. That control over the post-harvest step — grading, cooling, boxing — is why we can hold the 48–72 hour harvest-to-dispatch window consistently. Third-party aggregators using middlemen cannot.

How We Ripen the Fruit

We use natural hay-bed (Aadi) ripening only, in temperature-controlled rooms. No ethylene chambers. No calcium carbide. No artificial ripening agents of any kind. The 24–48 hours the mangoes spend at the Mumbai packhouse are monitored ripening on hay — not gas-triggered acceleration.

Post-harvest, each fruit goes through a hot-water treatment that reduces surface issues and extends shelf life, followed by cooling before the Mumbai run. Every fruit is then weighed, graded, and passed through AI/ML-assisted machine scanning that checks for internal problems (including spongy tissue) and external deformities before it reaches a box.

Independently tested by Envirocare Labs Pvt. Ltd., Thane (NABL accredited, certificate TC-8284; report 01/ETHAP2500044, issued 5 April 2025): all 28 residues tested were within Codex maximum residue limits. We do not claim "pesticide-free" — one residue (thiamethoxam, 0.013 mg/kg against a limit of 0.2 mg/kg) was detected within safe limits. We test weekly through the season.

Nutrition in Every Fruit

Ripe Alphonso pulp contains roughly 30–36 mg of vitamin C per 100 g. A 100 g serving meets about 40–45% of the ICMR-NIN 2020 recommended daily intake for adult men (80 mg/day) and about 50% for adult women (65 mg/day). These figures apply to the pulp you eat, not to the whole fruit by weight.

Vitamin C and Immunity

Vitamin C at that concentration supports normal immune function. The fruit also contains mangiferin, a polyphenol studied by Govindappa et al. (2011) for anti-inflammatory activity in cell studies. We cite that research as background, not as a health claim for our product.

Alphonso contains B-group vitamins including B6, which the body uses in neurotransmitter synthesis. The evidence is from general nutritional science, not mango-specific trials — we will not overstate it.

Storage After Delivery
